Douluo Continent Chat Group: Building My Academy

Chapter 62, I am Sirius Black, your godfather

Vernon is undoubtedly an ordinary person with certain abilities, who dotes on all his family members, strives for respectability, and is both hypocritical and authoritarian.

He may have many bad qualities, but his love for his family is genuine.

When Penny accepted his confession, she nervously told him that her sister was a witch. Vernon was shocked and swore to God that he would not discriminate against her because of this and would continue to love her.

Unfortunately, when Vernon and Penny met with James Lily, things still went wrong.

Vernon showed off his car, James talked about his broom, Vernon said wizards need government assistance, and James said he had a stash of gold in Gringotts.

This made Vernon feel slighted and deceived, and he eventually stormed out. When they met again, he maliciously mocked James as a magician.

There is no doubt that Vernon was unwilling to accept anything new, and anyone or anything that did not conform to his expectations was heretical in his eyes.

Therefore, when Dumbledore and his party entered his house, Vernon's hostility was almost palpable on his face.

"Oh, hello." Sirius quickly approached Vernon. Although he found it unbelievable that this fat man, whose neck was almost invisible, was James's brother-in-law, he still showed his friendship first.

"You must be Harry's uncle? I'm Sirius Black, James is my best friend, and I'm also Harry's godfather."

"godfather!?"

Vernon snorted those two words through his nostrils, and before he could say anything, he was as angry as a bulldog.

Sirius was puzzled and was about to introduce himself again when he was stopped by the experienced Lupin.

Lupin realized that the couple was hostile towards them, just like the wizards who discovered he was a werewolf.

"It's been a long time, Miss Petunia. Perhaps I should now address you as Mrs. Dursley."

Dumbledore smiled calmly at the uneasy Petunia.

"I think you know who we're here for. Could you please call Harry out? We'd like to see him."

Penny nervously clutched the hem of her clothes, glancing at Vernon, whose breathing was growing heavier, and couldn't understand why she had let these guys in.

But in the end she nodded, and Vernon remained silent, trying to maintain his composure.

"Harry, come out, someone wants to see you."

"Yes."

Harry had heard the commotion long ago. The people living in this house were more perceptive than anyone else. His heart had almost jumped out of his chest the moment he heard Sirius call himself his godfather.

His dream has come true? His real family will find him and take him away from here!?

Harry tried hard to clean his hands, wanting to make a good impression on his godfather. What if the godfather disliked him? Would he even like him?

Excited and nervous, Harry jogged out, feeling a little pleased that his skillful work had left him completely dry.

The moment Harry stepped out of the kitchen, three pairs of eyes seemed glued to him.

Sirius Black froze, staring at Harry's face, and muttered to himself.

"Like, seems like, James, no, Harry, oh, the eyes are more like Lily's."

Lupin was momentarily lost in thought, then his gaze fell on Harry's clothes—old, tattered, baggy, ill-fitting, without any patches, even worse than his own. Could it be…?

For a fleeting moment, Dumbledore's pupils dilated, and what he saw was not just Harry, but also a seven-year adventure filled with love and friendship.

A forced savior...

After a moment of stunned disbelief, as if they were experiencing presbyopia, Sirius was the first to regain his senses.

A big smile spread across Sirius's face. He wanted to call Harry's name, to have him come over, sit on his lap, and have a good chat.

But as Sirius's gaze shifted downwards, the instant he saw Harry's clothes and thin frame, anger flared in his eyes, and his brows furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly.

"Harry, you're too thin."

"what?"

Was this someone showing concern for him? Harry pursed his lips, a hope rising in his heart.

Sirius wanted to get angry, but since they were in front of the children, and Lupin immediately pulled him back, Sirius could only give Harry a forced smile.

He's a terrible godfather; he messed things up on our very first meeting.

"Come here, Harry, I'm Sirius Black, James is my best friend, and I'm your godfather. Come here, let me see you."

James, is that his father's name?

Harry blinked, then ran over as fast as he could, as if trying to catch a ray of light.

When Harry stood in front of Sirius, he realized how thin his godfather was. Although he was handsome, he was so thin.

Was he not doing well either? Is that why he's only coming to see him now? In that case, shouldn't he have avoided causing trouble for the Godfather?

"godfather?"

"Yes, that's me."

"I'm just as thin as you, that's healthy," Harry said, making excuses. He had always been a very opinionated boy.

Sirius was speechless. He was thin because he had been staying in Azkaban. Why was Harry thin? Could it be that the Dursleys were comparable to Azkaban?

Sirius gave Harry a tight hug, saying nothing more, his mind already racing with images of snacks he was about to feed Harry.

"This is Lupin, also James's good friend, my friend."

"Uncle Lupin," Harry greeted politely, and seeing Lupin's clothes, he became even more certain that his father's friend was also not doing well.

"Harry." Lupin nodded, a gentle smile appearing on his face, but the question lingered in his mind.

"This is Headmaster Dumbledore, the headmaster of the school you'll be attending soon, Hogwarts, the best magic school in all of Britain."

"Hello, Harry."

The first time Dumbledore spoke to Harry, or perhaps the second, he was waiting for Harry and Sirius to spend time together; they were family.

"Headmaster Dumbledore?"

Harry's eyes lit up. Hogwarts? What's that? Can he go to other schools?

"Wait, what? Hogwarts? What do you want to do?"

Vernon, suppressing his nausea, watched the father-son reunion that seemed utterly inexplicable to him. What was that? Could it be something from those wizards again?

"Mr. Vernon," Dumbledore said, putting aside Sirius Black, the "warrior," and offering a polite greeting first.

"You know, Harry's parents are wizards, so he is naturally a little wizard and has to go to Hogwarts to study. Otherwise, you will not be able to control the magic in his body and cause all sorts of phenomena."

"Think back, haven't there been many unusual things happening around Harry over the years?"

Dumbledore spoke calmly, and with a single sentence, Vernon's face turned even more like a liver.

He thought about how Harry's hair would always grow back into a mess the next day no matter how he cut it, how he inexplicably ran onto the roof at school once, and how Dudley somehow ran into the python exhibit at the zoo.

A monster! He was a monster! He couldn't let a monster stay in his house any longer!

"Go, take him away! Never let him come back and disturb my life again!"

Vernon issued the ultimatum, and Harry and Sirius's eyes lit up at the same time.
