Conan: What alias? That's my struggle!
12: The Deal with Sydney
The white light illuminated every corner, leaving nothing hidden.
Lin Ye stood beside the coffee table, holding the transfer document about "Shirley" in his hand, and the more he looked at it, the more his head ached.
The document was filled with various precautions—security levels during the transfer process, handover procedures at the destination, and even clauses such as "in case of unforeseen circumstances, priority should be given to ensuring the survival of the target, but if the target attempts to escape, they may be shot on the spot."
If I really did that, the main characters would be killed off prematurely, the world's will would intervene, and Conan would have to investigate me for over a thousand episodes.
"hateful!"
Lin Ye put down the documents and rubbed his temples.
Damn it. All he wanted was to live peacefully in this world, find a chance to get enough money, buy the Twilight Mansion, and run away with the gold, far away from all the main storylines. Now, not only is his identity as a winery worker in the first week, but it's also a disaster!
Her first task was to transfer Sherry—Shiho Miyano, the future Ai Haibara, one of the most central characters in the entire Detective Conan world.
How can he escape if he gets involved with this kind of person?
The main storyline is like a giant whirlpool; once you get close, you'll be sucked in, sinking deeper and deeper until you're left with nothing but bones—either a traitor or ashes.
The more Lin Ye thought about it, the more her expression changed.
"..." Shiho Miyano sat on the sofa, looking at his expression, a chill ran down her spine, her mind filled with the information about Lin Ye killing everyone without warning.
Shiho Miyano unconsciously clenched her skirt.
She is not afraid of death.
Having been in the organization for so many years, she was prepared to die at any moment. But she didn't want to die here, in this underground laboratory, at Madeira's hands.
She hasn't seen her sister yet.
She can't die.
"that……"
Shiho Miyano spoke, her voice much softer than she had expected. She cleared her throat and raised her voice: "Mr. Madeira."
Lin Ye didn't hear him. He was still thinking about his own things—the main storyline, his escape plan, the gold at the Twilight Villa, and the identity the system would refresh next week. These things were swirling in his mind, making his temples throb.
"Mr. Madeira!"
Shiho Miyano's voice rose a little higher, with a hint of urgency in her tone that she herself didn't realize.
Lin Ye snapped out of her daze and turned to look at her.
His brow was still furrowed.
Shiho Miyano's heart clenched suddenly.
That expression is still there. He's still agitated.
"You..." Shiho Miyano took a deep breath, trying to make her voice sound calm, "Calm down first."
The moment she said those words, she regretted them.
Tell Madeira to calm down? What right does she have to say such things to him? What if he feels offended?
But the words have already been spoken, and there's no going back.
Shiho Miyano quickly stood up from the sofa, walked to the coffee table, and picked up the thermos. Her hands were trembling slightly, but her movements were still quite nimble—she unscrewed the lid, poured a glass of water, and presented it to Lin Ye with both hands.
"Have some water," Shiho Miyano said, trying to keep her voice steady.
Lin Ye was stunned for a moment.
He glanced down at the glass of water, then at Shiho Miyano's face. Her expression was calm, but he noticed her fingers were trembling slightly.
Is she nervous?
Why?
Lin Ye took the water glass and took a sip.
The water temperature was just right, neither too hot nor too cold, and it felt very pleasant to drink.
Perhaps it was the saliva that worked, or perhaps the outburst just now had released most of the pent-up frustration in his heart, but Lin Ye's mind suddenly cleared up a bit.
He began to re-examine his earlier thoughts.
What does the plot that Madera touches have to do with Lin Ye?
Madeira was the identity the system gave him; he was a clerk at the distillery and an assassin under Gin's command. These labels were attached to him, but essentially, he was still that college student who had transmigrated from another world. He didn't need to live according to Madeira's persona.
He doesn't need to be tied to any plot.
They'll run away eventually, and even Jesus couldn't stop them.
No, in this world, neither Shinichi Kudo nor the Black Organization can stop them.
"System, I understand now, you can't control me!"
At this moment, Lin Ye's brows relaxed, his tightly pursed lips loosened, and his entire demeanor instantly transformed from gloomy to relaxed.
He put down his water glass and looked at Shiho Miyano.
Shiho Miyano stared at him nervously, her beautiful eyes filled with unease. She didn't know what he was thinking, or what his next move would be.
But she kept observing every tiny change in his expression.
Lin Ye noticed her gaze.
He thought she was looking at the water glass in his hand.
"Is the water temperature a bit too high?"
Lin Ye asked, his tone much gentler than before.
Shiho Miyano paused for a moment.
Water temperature?
She didn't pay attention to the water temperature at all.
"No..." she said instinctively.
"It's okay."
Lin Ye tilted his head, looked at her expression, and suddenly found it a little funny.
This woman isn't as aloof as others say. The Shiho Miyano who was known for her calm and wisdom in the original work now looks like a nervous, tense little animal.
"Are you all packed?" Lin Ye put down her water glass, stood up, and asked, "Can we go now?"
Shiho Miyano nodded quickly: "That's fine."
"Is there any information about the organization missing?" Lin Ye glanced at the coffee table and sofa to make sure nothing was left behind.
"Please rest assured," Shiho Miyano replied succinctly and confidently.
Lin Ye nodded and turned to walk towards the door.
Outside the door, four men in black were already fully prepared. Upon seeing Lin Ye emerge, they immediately straightened up and lowered their eyes respectfully.
"Let's go," Lin Ye said, uttering only one word.
The group walked through the corridor, entered the elevator, and arrived at the ground floor. A black sedan was already waiting at the door. There were two cars; the first car carried three men in black, and the second car was reserved for Lin Ye and Miyano Shiho.
Shiho Miyano sat in the back seat, her hands on her knees, the red light from the handcuffs dancing between her pale fingers.
Lin Ye sat next to her, looking at the night view outside the car window without saying a word.
The car drove across the Rainbow Bridge, through Odaiba, and finally stopped in an inconspicuous industrial area on the shore of Tokyo Bay.
It was a pharmaceutical factory.
In the original story, the pharmaceutical factory was eventually burned down. He couldn't quite remember when or why it burned down, but he remembered the scene—raging fire engulfing everything, thick smoke obscuring the sky over Tokyo Bay. Of course, this pharmaceutical factory still looked rather grand and impressive.
The handover procedures went very smoothly.
The person in charge at the pharmaceutical company had obviously also received the notification about "Madera," and remained extremely respectful throughout, not daring to exchange any unnecessary pleasantries.
It's clear that even the veteran employees at the winery are terrified of Madeira.
Shiho Miyano was taken into the underground laboratory.
Lin Ye stood on the ground, watching the metal door leading underground slowly close, and breathed a sigh of relief.
The mission is complete.
The money is in hand.
He turned to leave.
"Mr. Madeira."
Shiho Miyano's voice came from behind me.
Lin Ye stopped and turned around.
Shiho Miyano stood beside the metal door, two guards standing not too far behind her. Her expression remained calm, but he noticed her fingers were slightly clenching the hem of her skirt.
"What is it?" Lin Ye asked.
Shiho Miyano took a deep breath.
She knew what she was doing. She knew the man in front of her was one of the organization's most dangerous assassins, that he killed without blinking an eye, and that his classic line was "Kill them all." She knew how foolish and dangerous it was to ask this kind of person for help.
But she still wanted to give it a try.
For my sister.
"Can you do me a favor?" Shiho Miyano's voice was soft, but every word was spoken clearly.
Lin Ye frowned slightly.
Shiho Miyano's heart skipped a beat, but she did not back down.
"I want to see my sister," she said hesitantly. "The organization forbids us from meeting, but if you're willing to help..."
She paused for a moment, as if gathering her last bit of courage.
"I can give you payment. My entire savings."
She could only hope that the rumor was true—that Madeira would take on any task as long as there was payment.
Lin Ye looked at her face and remained silent for a few seconds.
"Savings?" He repeated the word, his gaze shifting from her face to the limited-edition Fussau bag on her wrist—a designer brand, the very expensive kind. He then looked at the necklace around her neck, the earrings on her earlobes, and the ring on her finger.
Every single item is genuine. Every single item is quite valuable.
Shiho Miyano clearly noticed his gaze, but she didn't look away; she simply stood quietly, waiting for his reply.
Lin Ye's mind was racing.
He wanted to see her older sister—Akami Miyano, the poor woman who was killed by Gin in the original story. If he could help the sisters meet, or even help them escape the organization's control…
This is indeed getting involved in the main storyline.
But looking at it from another angle, leaving a good impression on the Red Team would make it easier for her to escape later. Shiho Miyano is a key figure; she owes him a favor, which might be more valuable than gold when he needs help in the future.
And there's also a reward.
He glanced at the designer clothes on Shiho Miyano and did some mental calculations.
"make a deal."
Lin Ye nodded.
Shiho Miyano paused for a moment.
She didn't expect him to agree so readily.
"real?"
The girl's voice carried a hint of disbelief.
"Give me the money, and I'll agree to anything."
Lin Ye demonstrated his professional ethics, showing no personal emotions whatsoever. He was preparing to escape; the system wouldn't allow him to obediently work for the dark organization.
