Chapter 59 I am the First Officer of Flight 6533
The tablet itself is certainly not worth 10,000 yuan, especially since it's not a new product; it's been used for a while.
However, this involved a lot of documents and materials, which the airlines had paid for, which is why the fine was increased to 10,000.
Ten thousand! If he were really fined ten thousand yuan because of his carelessness, Xu Xian would even consider ending his own life.
After much deliberation, Xu Xian deduced logically that the tablet was most likely not lost in the flight preparation room or at the security checkpoint, as that didn't make sense. So where could it be? Aside from those two times, the data package hadn't been opened again, had it?
Xu Xian's mind was a bit of a mess. He casually stuffed the mission briefing into a file bag and hurriedly grabbed his flight case and data bag to board the plane. The only thing he could do now was to ask Zhu Jia for his opinion.
Fortunately, after Xu Xian went up the boarding bridge, he found that Zhu Jia had not yet entered the cockpit, but was talking to the flight attendant at the cockpit door.
Thank goodness, otherwise, if Zhu Jia had entered the cockpit, it would have taken some effort to call him out. At least until things became clear, Fang Ying couldn't be allowed to know about this.
Xu Xian placed the flight case on the adjacent walkway at the cabin door. At this moment, Zhu Jia noticed that Xu Xian looked rather unwell.
Xu Xian gestured to Zhu Jia, indicating that he had something to discuss. Xu Xian needed to find a secluded place to discuss countermeasures with Zhu Jia.
"What did you say? A tablet is missing?" Even with Zhu Jia's composure, she was caught off guard by the news that a tablet was missing. "When did you find it? Do you know where it fell?"
"I just discovered it when I was putting things into the document bag." Seeing that Zhu Jia was a little flustered, Xu Xian became even more anxious. "This bag was opened in the preparation room and at the security checkpoint. I've thought about it, and it shouldn't have fallen out of those two places."
Zhu Jia understood Xu Xian's meaning after a moment's thought. There was nowhere to hide anything on the table in the preparation room, and with so many people watching while someone was searching their bag at the security checkpoint, it was impossible for no one to notice.
Where did the tablet go?
"Preparation room, security checkpoint..." Xu Xian wasn't lying to him. Throughout the entire entry process, Xu Xian kept his bag with him at all times. He sat next to Xu Xian and saw everything he did. From beginning to end, he never saw Xu Xian open the briefcase.
The problem must lie in the flight preparation room and security checkpoint, but that doesn't make sense!
Suddenly, Zhu Jia remembered something and said to Xu Xian, "You go down and keep an eye on things! I'll handle this."
"Brother, have you figured something out?" Xu Xian was overjoyed; Zhu Jia's expression clearly showed that he had discovered something.
"Don't worry about it. Just make sure you don't get caught and there's no one supervising you. Good luck!" Zhu Jia seemed a little more relaxed, which reassured Xu Xian somewhat.
"Brother, I'll go down first." Xu Xian didn't insist and obediently listened to Zhu Jia and went down to supervise and cheer.
Zhu Jia smiled and said, "Go ahead, it's nothing."
After watching Xu Xian leave, Zhu Jia dialed the information desk.
The call was quickly connected, and a woman's voice came through: "Hello, this is Xingyou Data Center."
"Hello, I am the co-pilot of flight 6533."
Data clerk: "Excuse me, is there anything I can help you with?"
"It's like this, about twenty minutes ago, when we entered, we think we left a tablet on table number four. Could you please check it out?" Zhu Jia said, her tone very polite.
Table number four wasn't actually the table they had just prepared; it was the table next door.
"You mean you left a tablet in the preparation room? Table number four, right?" The data clerk stood up, glanced around, and, not seeing it, said, "Please wait a moment, I'll go check."
The data clerk didn't hang up the phone; instead, he put the receiver aside and went straight to table number four to check.
Less than a minute later, there was another sound on the other end of the phone: "Found it, there is a tablet on table number four."
Zhu Jia breathed a sigh of relief; the ten thousand yuan was saved.
"Could you please make a note for us? We're handing in two tablets when we go back today," Zhu Jia said.
Each time the data package is returned, the data clerk checks for any missing tablets, which is why Zhu Jia asked them to make a note of it, so as not to forget later and cause any misunderstandings.
"No problem!" the data clerk readily agreed.
Seeing that the matter was resolved, Zhu Jia thanked the data clerk repeatedly.
However, things took a turn for the worse than Zhu Jia expected; the call did not end.
"Flight 6533, right? Is there a second officer?" The data clerk suddenly changed the subject, asking about the second officer for some reason.
Zhu Jia didn't answer immediately, but sensed something was wrong: "What do you mean? Are you going to hold someone accountable?"
"It's not about assigning blame, just reporting the incident. The crew should have reported leaving the tablet behind," the data clerk said calmly.
Zhu Jia panicked: "Wasn't it not lost?"
"It's not lost! But it's also a fact that you left it in the preparation room. I will report the recovery situation as well. As for what the fleet says, that's up to the fleet to decide."
Zhu Jia was quite annoyed by these people who made a mountain out of a molehill. Was leaving the tablets in the preparation room considered an incident? You could argue it was. After all, if you really wanted to drag it into it, you could say it was a problem with the crew's work attitude.
But are the consequences serious?
The entire incident took less than a minute for the data clerk to get up and check table number four. It's absurd that this was reported to the fleet.
Zhu Jia knew exactly what kind of people in the fleet were like. They could create problems where none existed, otherwise they wouldn't be able to show they were working hard. Even this seemingly insignificant issue could be used to issue a reprimand to the fleet in nine out of ten cases.
A public reprimand can affect a student's chances of promotion, and students who receive a public reprimand will be at a significant disadvantage.
"Are you going to report the second mate?" Zhu Jia asked.
The data clerk, however, felt this was standard procedure: "Isn't this the second mate's job? Whoever's responsibility it is, that's how it is, isn't it?"
Zhu Jia's face turned ashen. He didn't know what the company's senior management was like, but there were plenty of low-level thugs.
The data clerk had already taken out paper and pen to record the information when a firm voice came from the other end of the phone: "No need to report the second officer, report me! I am Zhu Jia, the first officer of flight 6533!"
