One Piece: Starting from Awakening the Cosmo at Marineford

Chapter 83 Fossa's Defeat: He Still Has to Do the Killing Himself

Lafayette shouted smugly, "Fosa, aren't you going to watch your little brothers get wiped out soon!"

Even though Fossa knew this was a scheme to distract him, he couldn't help but care.

He swung his sword forward with a sudden slash, aiming straight for Basque Jote's head.

Basque Jote was startled and quickly raised his gourd to block.

Unexpectedly, Fossa, who seemed to be using all his strength, suddenly stopped and lunged at Lafayette.

Lafayette was holding up his sword, gesturing at a badly wounded pirate lying on the ground.

Hearing the commotion behind him, and with his underlings already shouting "Watch out!", Lafayette quickly turned around and attacked Fossa with his sword.

Fossa's moves were wide and sweeping, as if they possessed immense power.

Lafayette was ruthless and vicious, and his attacks were always aimed at Fosa's most vulnerable points, while he also kept provoking him.

"Jote! Now it's your turn to take care of Fossa's henchmen!"

Basque Chote shouted, "Let me rest for a bit!"

Lafayette grinned maliciously and cursed, "Damn it, hurry up!"

"Alright. Let them taste my fiery liquor!"

Basque Chote strode toward the surrounded Fossa men, taking a large gulp of wine as he went.

"Ah!" Fosa roared, having just escaped Basque Jotte's entanglement, he was now being entangled by Lafayette.

Lafayette was more difficult to deal with than Basque Jote. The more anxious Fosa became, the more mistakes he made, and he was soon struck by two more swords.

Lafayette couldn't resist adding a sarcastic remark: "Fosa, you could ask these marines for help; maybe they'll lend a hand?"

Fossa roared, "Bullshit! I'd rather die than ask the Navy for help!"

"Then go die!"

Lafayette thrust his sword forward, aiming straight for Fossa's chest.

Fossa didn't dodge; instead, he stepped forward to meet the attack.

With a soft sound, Lafayette's sword had already pierced Fossa's chest.

Lafayette was taken aback by how easily he succeeded.

Fossa suddenly raised his left hand, hardened with Armament Haki, and grabbed Lafayette's rapier.

Lafayette's eyes widened, and he realized something was wrong. He tried to draw his sword, but it wouldn't budge.

Before he could let go, Fossa's blade had already swung upwards diagonally: "Hellfire Slash!"

With a loud "boom," Lafayette was sent flying dozens of meters away, spitting out blood, and his clothes were burned with several holes.

Basque Chote turned his head: "Lafayette, are you even capable! How come you only lasted this long!"

"Kill!" Fossa leaped up, Lafayette's sword still stuck in his chest, and lunged at Basque Jote with a ferocious expression.

Basque Jote stared blankly at Fossa, as if terrified by Fossa's fierce appearance, and for a moment forgot to dodge.

Unfortunately, while Fosa was still more than ten meters away, he suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, his body detached, and fell to the ground.

The sword pierced his chest even deeper, and Fossa coughed up another mouthful of blood. He barely managed to sit up, supporting himself with his arm.

Basque Jote laughed heartily: "Fosa, you're done for, aren't you? I'll roast you like a pig!"

Lafayette approached, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Fosa, I already told you to pledge allegiance to Admiral Teach. Too bad, it's too late now, even if you wanted to. After I kill you, I'll deal with all your worthless lackeys one by one. And these civilians on the island, heh heh, I'll take good care of them!"

Gasping for breath, Fossa roared, "Lafayette! If you dare touch them, I'll haunt you even in my deadly tragedies!"

Lafayette walked up to Fossa, raised her hand and patted his face: "Fossa, we're not afraid of you alive, why would we be afraid of ghosts?"

After Lafayette finished speaking, his right hand had already grasped the hilt of the sword, and he slowly, inch by inch, pulled the rapier out of Fossa's chest.

Fossa stared intently at Lafayette without uttering a sound, though countless beads of sweat were already seeping from his forehead from the pain.

Lafayette couldn't help but exclaim, "Fosa, what a man!"

Basque Chote also said, "Not bad, not bad, what a pity."

Lafayette held the sword level, pointing it at Fossa's throat, and slowly said, "Fossa, why were you so foolish? If you hadn't done this futile work, we wouldn't have had to waste so much effort. Your little brother wouldn't have died. Alas."

Fossa roared, "Don't be so smug! Marco, Joz, and Vista will definitely avenge me!"

Laffitte shook his head and said, "We, the Blackbeard Pirates, and the remnants of your Whitebeard Pirates will have a final battle sooner or later. After defeating you, Teach will be able to smoothly ascend to the throne of one of the Four Emperors, and no one will question our strength. Besides, don't worry, Marco is definitely no match for Teach. We are not to be trifled with either."

Fossa was panting heavily, his injuries leaving him weak, especially the sword wound in his chest, which was less than 1 centimeter from his heart and had also damaged his lungs. He felt a violent urge to cough.

Lafayette sighed, "Fosa, I originally intended to torture you, but now that I think about it, you've earned my respect, so I can give you a quick death."

He was known as the "Devil Policeman" because of his fondness for torturing prisoners and his violent enforcement of the law, and was eventually banished from the kingdom.

Rafael raised his sword and thrust it fiercely at Fossa.

"Wait!"

A loud shout rang out, and Lafayette involuntarily stopped what he was doing, even trembling slightly.

He turned his head, squinted at Aaron, and said in a sinister tone, "What? You, a marine, want to save him?"

Aaron smiled and said, "You've misunderstood. I'm not trying to save him. I just said I was going to kill him."

"Oh? Since I'm going to die anyway, what difference does it make if I kill him?"

Aaron shook his head: "How can it be the same? I want to eat, but you say you'll eat for me. If you eat, won't I go hungry?"

"Interesting, really interesting."

Lafayette laughed, "What if I insist on killing him?"

Aaron said, "Then I'm sorry, but you'll die here today too."

"Hahaha!" Lafayette clutched his stomach, laughing loudly. "Jote, did you hear what he said? He wanted to kill me! A mere colonel-level marine dares to spout such nonsense and try to kill me?"

Basque Chote chuckled more憨厚ly: "Yeah, that's right, the kid isn't even drunk, yet he's already daydreaming!"

Aaron suddenly burst into laughter: "Lafayette, Basque Chote, we've met before, haven't you forgotten?"

Lafayette laughed, "Really? You mean the Marineford War? Just because I glanced at you doesn't mean I've seen you before."

Aaron said, "It's different. Your captain was furious when he looked at me. By the way, I was wearing a suit of armor at the time."

Lafayette's smile vanished instantly: "You're the marine who ruined the captain's plan to seize the Tremor-Tremor Fruit!"

Aaron smiled broadly: "That's right, it's me."
