One Piece: Starting from Awakening the Cosmo at Marineford

Chapter 85 The Death of Fossa: Rejecting Moral Binding

Aaron looked at the unconscious Basque Jot at his feet, barely breathing, and sneered. He lifted his foot and gently stomped on the ugly head, easily flattening it like crushing a watermelon, juice spilling out.

Fombey stood before Fossa, smiling, and asked, "Fossa, I drove away the Blackbeard Pirates for you, shouldn't you at least say thank you?"

Fosa was panting heavily and did not respond, but only looked up at Aaron.

Aaron had already killed all the remaining Blackbeard Pirates and slowly walked over.

Lark remained crouched on the roof, aiming his gun at Fossa to prevent him from launching a last-ditch counterattack.

Aaron said, "Fosa, don't worry, I won't do anything to the civilians on the island after you die. But if there are any pirates or anything, then I'm sorry."

Forsa's previously hardened expression softened instantly: "Thank you."

Aaron said, "You're welcome. We are marines after all; we won't lay a hand on civilians."

Fossa nodded, completely relaxing: "My underlings are all dead. Go ahead and do it. Give me a quick death."

Fossa closed his eyes, and Aaron showed no mercy, pressing his right hand onto Fossa's forehead.

"stop!"

"Please, don't kill him!"

Several civilians appeared at the end of the street, shouting loudly, and soon more civilians appeared behind them.

Aaron said, "I am a soldier, he is a thief. Anyone who pleads for him will be considered an accomplice!"

The civilians were startled, but they still mustered their courage and took two steps forward.

Fossa roared, "Don't come any closer! Back off! I don't need your sympathy! I'm a pirate, and I've taken a lot of money from you all these years on this island, have you forgotten?!"

"But...you were doing it to protect us!"

Fossa closed his eyes: "Get out! All of you, get out! Who do you think you are? I'm a great pirate!"

"Please, please let him go! Let him protect us!"

"Aren't you a marine? You shouldn't be killing innocent people indiscriminately!"

"Yes, you're a marine, you should listen to us, we're civilians!"

The civilians chattered and clamored, repeatedly mentioning Aaron's status as a marine, placing him on a moral high ground.

Aaron coldly replied, "Sorry, you are civilians, that's true. But I only have an obligation to protect you, not to obey your orders. Besides, this island has been under the Whitebeard Pirates' control for decades and has never paid taxes to the World Government."

You could even say that you are supporting pirates who are enemies of the World Government.

Strictly speaking, I didn't provide you with any protective clothing, and you are, in fact, my enemies.

"what?"

The dozens of civilians were stunned and didn't know how to refute Aaron.

Indeed, as Aaron said, by helping the Whitebeard Pirates oppose the World Government, they have essentially placed themselves on the opposite side of the World Government.

Aaron continued, "I'm already showing you extraordinary mercy by not killing you. And you still want to plead for him? That's utterly absurd."

After Aaron finished speaking, he raised his right hand and slapped Fossa hard on the forehead.

With a buzzing sound, Fosa's eyes widened, his skull had shattered into countless pieces, and his brain had turned into a mess.

Aaron released his grip, and Fossa fell forward to the ground, dead.

When the civilians saw Aaron turn around, they were so frightened that they took several steps back, thinking that Aaron was going to attack them.

Aaron said, "Don't worry, you are civilians after all, I won't kill you. From now on, this island is my territory. It no longer belongs to any pirates. Someone, go to the ship and get a flag."

A marine quickly ran aboard the warship and retrieved a naval ensign.

Aaron said, "Hang it up."

"Boss," said Finbuddy, "should we put your name on it to intimidate these pirates?"

Aaron was ruthless; when he encountered pirates, he would at most leave one alive to spread the news.

Ordinary pirates might be wary of his name, but the Four Emperors wouldn't be afraid of him.

Kaido and Charlotte Linlin, in particular, are eager to devour Aaron alive. If they learn that Firestone Island has become Aaron's territory, they will probably send people to attack it immediately.

Blackbeard's side just lost Basque Jotte, so they won't let this go easily.

Furthermore, Marco and the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates will likely send people over as well.

Aaron squinted, his eyes filled with fighting spirit.

He took out a Den Den Mushi from his pocket and dialed Stussy's number:

"Hey, Colonel Aaron, missing me? Where are you? I'll be right there!"

Aaron snorted and said coldly, "Spread the word for me: I'm on Firestone Island. I just killed Fossa and another guy named Basque Jot. I'll be on the island for a month, which is 30 days. Anyone who wants revenge can hurry up and come over."

Stussy chuckled, "Colonel Aaron, you're using the same old trick again. Now you're using yourself as bait to lure the Four Emperors to you. You're taking a huge risk. You've already offended Kaido and Big Mom, and now you've offended Blackbeard and Marco's gang. Are you tired of living? Are you waiting for them to come knocking on your door?"

Aaron said, "You don't need to worry about that. Just pass on the message for me."

Stussy chuckled, "I'm afraid they won't be so easily fooled this time. Who can be sure they won't be suddenly surrounded by the navy when they reach the island?"

Aaron said, "Let them worry about it themselves."

Stussy said, "Alright, I'll pass on the message for you. You owe me a favor, how about it?"

Aaron scoffed, "So you owe someone a favor? Never mind, I'll just go to Morgansbury's newspaper myself."

"No way," Stussy chuckled when he saw that Aaron wasn't falling for it. "I didn't say I wouldn't pass on the message for you. Just wait, I'll spread the word right away."

Thanks.

Aaron hung up the Den Den Mushi and looked at the civilians: "You can all leave now. Don't look at me like that, and don't try to morally blackmail me. I don't buy that."

The dozens of civilians stayed for a while longer before finally dispersing.

Yun Que asked, "Senior Aaron, are we really going to have to wait here for a month?"

Finbdi, on the other hand, seemed indifferent: "Anyway, we don't have anything else to do for the time being. Let's just rest on this island and train some more."

Yun Que said, "That's not what I'm worried about. I think these civilians still have a lot of grievances about us killing Fossa, and I'm afraid it will be difficult to get along with them for the next month."

Aaron snorted, "It's fine. I don't need to associate with them. I don't need their favor either. I hope they'll be sensible and not cause us any trouble."

Finbuddy chuckled: "Boss, they wouldn't be stupid enough not to sell us anything, would they? They'd be pretty bold."

Aaron squinted at the town entrance: "If they insist on not selling, I can admire them a little."
