NBA: My template has no limit

Chapter 13 Facing Georgetown

Rosemount Horizons Arena is destined to be packed today as it welcomes Georgetown University, the most popular team in the nation.

This is De Paul's last non-league match, with De Paul hosting Georgetown.

Georgetown boasts a top-tier roster led by Allen Iverson and finished in the top ten nationally throughout the season.

But Georgetown's main draw is still Iverson; those viewers are more like Iverson's fans than Georgetown's game fans.

Whether it was his "black genius who was treated unfairly" after the bowling brawl or his "villain" image from the urban underclass, it all destined that Iverson would be at the center of the media storm from the very first day he entered the NCAA.

In the afternoon, De Paul got ready and took a bus to the Horizon Arena on the outskirts of the city.

The usually empty suburban streets were packed with cars today, filled with spectators from all over the country.

The huge temporary posters outside the venue and the crowds queuing to enter broadened Xu Feng's horizons.

This was even more massive and intense than the one in Louisville.

Suddenly, a howl came from behind Xu Feng; it was Cooper.

"Ouch! Are you crazy, Singh? Why are you hitting me?!"

"No... I just want to make sure it's true, my hands are sweating."

"Why the hell don't you punch yourself, you coward!"

It's normal to be nervous, and Xu Feng is no exception. But Xu Feng is different from others. The more nervous he is, the more excited he becomes, and the better he performs.

In short, he's a big-game player. He discovered this strength in his past life, but never had a chance to use it.

I saw a dense crowd of spectators in the stands.

I saw a flag with DePaul's Blue Devils logo.

I saw the bright, circular spotlights shining from the top of the venue.

Hearing shouts of praise and insults around him.

Xu Feng felt his blood circulating rapidly, and every cell in his body was cheering with joy.

He laughed from the bottom of his heart.

"Look, that guy's at it again, what a freak!" Singh whispered to Brian behind him.

Horizon Arena was packed with action today, with tickets sold out three days before the game.

In fact, without Xu Feng, it might not have become so popular.

Before the two matches featuring Xu Feng, everyone thought it would be a one-shot victory for Georgetown, and such a predictable outcome made the matches less interesting.

But things are different now. On the posters outside the stadium, DePaul placed Xu Feng in the center, directly opposite Iverson on the other side.

After their performance in the previous game, mainstream media have put Xu Feng and De Paul back on their watchlist.

Sports Illustrated dedicated a page to Xu Feng's performance, accompanied by a picture of Xu Feng dunking over Walker.

That moment was enough to get all readers' blood pumping.

This dark horse was quickly dubbed "Eastern Star" and "Miracle" by them, and they wanted to know how far this yellow-skinned man could go.

Although many believe De Paul still cannot defeat Georgetown, at least it won't be a one-sided crushing victory, making the match more interesting.

Although the game wasn't broadcast live across the United States, it was as good as a live broadcast, with almost all major sports media outlets in the country sending their reporters to the scene to provide coverage.

Xu Feng and his group took off their coats and went to the court to warm up, and the audience entered the court one after another.

Even at home, only half the audience supports DePaul. This is the ability of the number one school in the country to turn an away game into a home game.

DePaul is dominating the basket, finding his best shooting touch and activating his body.

A commotion suddenly broke out on the sidelines. Xu Feng, hearing the noise, looked behind him and saw that Georgetown had arrived.

An oversized jersey far exceeding his height, a wide headband, his signature cornrows, and his height—that's Allen Iverson.

Xu Feng was somewhat excited as he met the future NBA superstar for the first time in a real sense.

The short-haired guy next to Iverson is Victor Page, Georgetown's second-best shooter.

Jerome Williams, with his afro, is a tireless workhorse on the court, doing all the dirty and hard work.

Georgetown's players, all dressed in black jerseys and with their tall statures, certainly gave off a villainous vibe, inspiring fear.

Iverson merely glanced at Xu Feng casually, without making any comment.

In his view, this was just an ordinary match, without any difficulty or anything that could inspire him.

All he needs to do is go on the court, easily get past the defender, put the ball in that damn basket, and leave with the victory.

It doesn't matter who the opponent is; he will handle everything, it's that simple.

It's just an NCAA regular season game, what's so difficult about it?

The audience took their seats, the lights focused, and the competition officially began.

Xu Feng stood in the center circle and jumped for the ball with Georgetown center Osera Harrington.

The referee blew the whistle, and Xu Feng won possession of the ball for the Blue Devils.

After receiving the ball, Tome did not hesitate and immediately passed it to Xu Feng, who then dribbled the ball forward past midfield.

In this game, Xu Feng was matched up against Victor Page. Iverson was assigned to Singler for defense.

Page was already waiting at the top of the arc for Xu Feng to come to his matchup.

His posture was very imposing, but it did not affect Xu Feng, who charged straight at him!

With a sudden change of direction, Xu Feng broke through from the right side.

Paige wasn't about to let him get away so easily. She turned her body to the side and stretched out her arm to try and stop Xu Feng's attack.

Page's defense is conventional, but his opponents are anything but.

Xu Feng didn't flinch at all, and charged into the paint against Paige. At this moment, Paige's body blocked Osera's help defense route.

With a sudden burst of speed on the last step, he shook off Paige, jumped lightly, and made a clean layup with his left hand!

Without many fancy moves, Xu Feng relied on his height advantage to drive into the paint and score easily!

"Watching Xu Feng play often gives people the illusion that 'scoring is that simple.' Concise, smooth, and without any unnecessary dragging!" Commentator Jim Ribant didn't hold back his praise.

However, Iverson's counterattack was faster than expected.

A classic crossover: he blew past Singh in one step, bypassed the clumsy Hottinger, and scored a layup.

In the midst of thousands of flowers, the leaves do not stick to the body.

For Singler, stopping Iverson is too difficult.

Before the game, Joey considered having Xu Feng guard Iverson, but ultimately decided against it.

He can no longer rely solely on talent for defense; it requires more defensive awareness and technique, which Xu Feng clearly lacks right now.

Similarly, Iverson also struggled to defend against Xu Feng's drives.

Since both are difficult to defend against, let's pick an easy target that we can easily defeat and trade blows.

Before the game, everyone at Georgetown received a strict order from Coach Thompson: "Absolutely do not let him get inside the three-point line easily."

So when Xu Feng proved the truth of this statement with his strength in the first round, Georgetown became more vigilant.

Whenever Xu Feng dribbled the ball past half-court, Iverson was always ready to double-team him, and Jerome was also watching closely from the sidelines.

Seeing Georgetown's posture, Xu Feng understood and, without hesitation, took advantage of Jerome's momentary lapse in concentration to pass the ball directly to Tome, who had run into space.

It takes time to shift your focus to your body, and Tome seized the opportunity to take a mid-range shot!

Swish! Hollow through the net!

Tome will be a little nervous facing Georgetown, the favorites to win the U.S. title, but only a little.

He's already a junior in college, with one more year until graduation, but his NBA career is still a long way off!

He knew that Xu Feng's appearance was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him.

If DePaul can go further under Xu Feng's leadership, it means they will have wider recognition. Even if he still can't enter the NBA after graduation, he may play in other leagues.

They must overcome difficulties with courage and give everything on the field for victory!
