NBA: My template has no limit

Chapter 86 Beyond the Era

Faced with the Hornets' relentless attack, Chris Ford said to them:

"We need to double-team Glen Rice and Robinson, go up and contest against him, put pressure on him, and not let him get the ball easily, okay?"

I believe you can do it, keep it up!

Glenn Robinson ran half the course with Rice, panting heavily, and nodded silently.

Actually, Chris didn't have high hopes anymore; he just wanted to give the players some motivational advice and see if he could give it a try.

The second half began. Glen Rice's performance was finally less exaggerated.

Early in the third quarter, Rice missed two consecutive three-point attempts. Xu Feng seized the opportunity, scoring twice against Dell Curry in isolation plays, narrowing the gap to 13 points.

The Hornets responded quickly, with Divac receiving the ball in the low post and completing a hook shot over Baker's defense to extend their lead to two points.

Glen Rice switched to guard Xu Feng to prevent Xu Feng from continuing to bully the weak.

But how could Rice be sure he wasn't an easy target?

Xu Feng received a pass from Baker in the right corner, faced Rice's defense, dribbled laterally, took a step back, and jumped up to hit a three-pointer!

In the next possession, Anthony Mason positioned himself high on the free-throw line to facilitate the play. Glen Rice made continuous off-ball runs, eventually reaching the right 45-degree position, where Mason delivered a bounce pass.

Sherman had been lurking on the flank, and decisively rushed out to intercept the ball before Rice could reach it. Xu Feng received the pass from the top of the arc and immediately turned and launched a fast break.

Xu Feng took three steps, leaped into the air, turned and twisted his waist to slam the ball into the basket!

Boom! —

Xu Feng successfully executed a back dunk!

Stephen Curry watched Xu Feng's movements with amazement mixed with hesitation. He said to Sonya Curry beside him:

"Why do I feel like dunking is cooler? I don't want to practice three-pointers anymore, I want to practice my jumping ability, I want to grow taller, I want to dunk like Xu Feng!"

After a few rounds, the Bucks regained momentum, and Glen Rice, as the team's leader, stepped up again.

He first received the ball at the top of the arc, made a handoff with Divac, and used Divac's screen to create space the moment he released the ball. He then accelerated with small steps, received the ball again in the elbow area, and took a mid-range shot!

Swish! A clean hit!

Xu Feng responded by cutting out using Robinson's screen, receiving a pass from Sherman, and hitting another three-pointer from the top of the arc.

After Anthony Mason and Glen Rice set a screen, Mason rolled to the basket, raised his arm high, and was about to dunk when Andrew blocked his way, causing his hand to slip and miss the dunk!

Visually, it looked like a sure goal, and the crowd erupted in cheers. At this crucial moment, Anthony Mason pulled a huge shot for them.

Vin Baker positioned himself early to grab the rebound, and Xu Feng dribbled the ball across half-court. The Hornets quickly retreated to defend, not giving Xu Feng an easy chance to dunk.

However, Xu Feng's scoring was not affected. Facing Rice, Xu Feng used a triple threat fake, released the ball and accelerated, walked past Rice in one step, drove straight into the paint, and scored a layup against Divac who had his hands raised under the basket.

Xu Feng will punish the Hornets with points whenever they make a mistake!

"Oh, Xu Feng came back in the second half and scored 13 points in a row, keeping the Bucks close!" Stephen Martin said incredulously.

He turned to his partner, Mike Gominsky, and said, "Dude, I just made a joke, you know what?"

"What is it?"

"I shouldn't have said that Xu Feng is inferior to others; that was just me talking nonsense. But I really hope Xu Feng won't be so overpowered for now. I mean it; he's about to break his career record here!"

In the second half of the third quarter, the backcourt duo of Glen Lens and Dale Curry made an impact, preventing the Bucks from continuing their comeback.

At the end of the third quarter, the Bucks narrowed the gap to 73-80, trailing by only 7 points.

With Xu Feng's crucial intervention, the rest of the Bucks team started to regain their form at the beginning of the fourth quarter, each contributing their own performances.

Perry became an ankle killer, repeatedly changing direction to shake off Tony Smith, but he wasn't much better off. When he drove into the paint, he slipped, lost his balance, and staggered.

He wanted to pass the ball to Vin Baker before he fell, so he flipped his hand and tossed it upwards with force.

The basketball arced high through the air, passing over Vin Baker and Vlade Divac, and spun as it fell directly above the rim.

Swish! Goal! This ball went straight in!

"Wow! A miracle shot! Can you believe it? That layup went in! Perry did it, he accomplished the impossible!"

Robinson finally woke up, first driving hard to the basket and drawing a foul, then making both free throws.

Then, he went one-on-one with Anthony Mason in the low post, ignoring the physical difference, creating space, and then took a fadeaway jump shot at an extreme angle. The basketball barely grazed Mason's fingertips and went in off the backboard.

The Hornets' offense stalled. After a period of intense activity, Rice's stamina waned, and he missed two consecutive jump shots. Curry's three-pointer also bounced off the rim.

With three and a half minutes remaining in the game, Xu Feng drove straight to the basket and passed the ball to Perry at the top of the arc before Anthony Mason and Glen Rice could double-team him. Perry then hit a three-pointer, narrowing the gap to 84-86.

The Hornets called a timeout.

After the timeout, Rice didn't force a three-pointer again. Instead, he dribbled to the basket, drew a foul from Vin Baker, and made both free throws.

Xu Feng responded immediately, receiving the ball on the right wing after a double screen and hitting a jump shot. Rice assisted Divac for a layup, then hit a mid-range jumper himself, extending the Hornets' lead back to 8 points.

Xu Feng didn't stop. He broke through and made a jump shot.

In the next possession, he intercepted Glen Rice's cross pass to Curry and launched a fast break. Curry, in a fit of anger, grabbed Xu Feng's arm from behind and committed a foul.

Xu Feng stepped to the free-throw line and made both shots.

Robinson blocked Mason's layup on the defensive end, Perry grabbed the rebound and quickly advanced the ball, passing it to Xu Feng, who was positioned on the right wing.

Xu Feng received the ball and, facing Rice's help defense, took a three-pointer without hesitation. The ball's trajectory was a bit short, and it bounced off the front edge of the rim. Vin Baker grabbed the rebound and scored with a hook shot.

The score is tied at 91!

Having tasted success, Rice drove hard to the basket and scored another 2+1. Perry immediately responded with a mid-range jumper to tie the game.

Bogues, who came off the bench, missed a layup, Baker grabbed the rebound, and Perry dribbled up the court for a fast break, scoring a reverse layup.

With one minute left, Rice missed a three-pointer, and Xu Feng received the ball at the top of the arc, using Baker's screen to pull up for a three-pointer.

Swish! Another three-pointer!

With a 5-point difference, this shot completely sealed the game.

"The Bucks' fast break success rate was too high; they completed the comeback with a higher shooting percentage, and they completely controlled the second half of the game!"

In the final moments, Glen Rice didn't give up and made a three-pointer with five seconds left, but it was too late.

With the final buzzer sounding, the Bucks completed an 18-point comeback, defeating the Hornets 97-95 on the road.

Anthony Mason clutched his head in anguish. His missed spike had become a foreshadowing of his own downfall, and he was filled with regret, almost to the point of tears.

"It's all my fault! I should have held the ball with both hands. It's all because that one shot missed! Otherwise, this wouldn't have happened!"

Glenn Rice shook his head, comforting Mason:

"Come on, there's no need for that. We still have many games to play. You didn't do anything wrong, and it's not your fault. If I had made two more three-pointers, the result would have been different."

格伦·莱斯全场25投13中,三分球11投8中,罚球11罚9中,轰下43分3篮板2助攻。

许峰25投12中,三分球9投7中,罚球7罚5中,砍下36分,其中下半场得到24分。

Vin Baker contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds, Glenn Robinson stepped up in the second half with 17 points, and Elliott Perry added 11 points and 7 assists off the bench.

黄蜂方面,戴尔·库里得到18分,安东尼·梅森拿下11分10篮板9助攻的准三双,弗拉德·迪瓦茨贡献8分10篮板3盖帽。

The two teams delivered a three-point battle that transcended its time in the NBA during the 90s.

Tonight was supposed to be Glen Rice's highlight night, but it turned into Xu Feng's comeback performance.
