75. Fetishism
Pullshi threw off the covers and stuffed a blood crystal from the bed into his handbag.
Then he got up, reached out and grabbed Batel by the neck, pressing him firmly against the wall.
"It wasn't for nothing that I slept with the barrier on every night; you rascal, you finally made your move!"
Batel tried to pry open Pulsi's hand, but it was as if he were trying to break an iron clamp.
Pulchi slowly tightened his grip, causing Batel's face to turn red and foam to appear at the corners of his mouth. Just as he was about to faint, Pulchi released his grip.
"Cough! Cough cough!" Batel knelt on the ground coughing incessantly, drool dripping all over the floor.
"I'll spare your life because you have connections to sell those demi-human slaves. If it happens again, I'll kill your two sons. Now get out of here!"
Batel got up in a sorry state and slunk away from the cave.
While Pulsey wasn't looking, Norn climbed to the leather bag next to his bed, lifted the lid, and a dazzling red light instantly illuminated his rat-like face. The bag was filled with blood crystals of varying sizes.
"Where did this guy get so many blood crystals?!"
Norn was still in shock when he heard Pulsey's angry shouts from behind: "Where did this dead rat come from! Get away from my bag!"
A sharp gust of wind whistled past Norn's ears, and then the entire rat's body was neatly sliced into three pieces.
Norn's brain returned to its original state, and a question arose:
"Why would Pulchill, with so many blood crystals, get involved in this human trafficking business? He could easily become rich by selling just a couple of blood crystals; why bother with Batel's paltry sum?"
"Or do dark mages have some kind of faith in blood crystals and won't sell them casually?"
Norn thought about it for a long time but couldn't come up with an answer, and before he knew it, he had fallen asleep.
The next morning, Batel acted as if nothing had happened, having breakfast with his two sons.
Their breakfast was simple: a piece of dry, hard black bread, a stick-like piece of dried meat, and a glass of water.
Batel also gave Norn the same breakfast, saying, "It'll be better if you eat it soaked in water. I'm sorry to trouble you. I'll bring you some wine when I go out to find a buyer the day after tomorrow."
At that moment, Pullshi walked out, and the atmosphere around them instantly became oppressive.
He said nothing, and walked out of the cave with his leather bag full of blood crystals on his back.
"Where is he going out to do?" Norn asked.
"He thought it was too stuffy here, so he went out for a walk," Batel's eldest son replied.
Norn nodded, quickly finished his food, and went outside. He felt that Pulsey's outing was not just a simple stroll.
Having spent so much time in the cave, Norn was blinded by the glaring sunlight the moment he stepped out.
At this time, Pulsi had not gone far; his silhouette could still be seen in the distant woods.
Norn immediately possessed a long-beaked owl in the canopy, spread his wings, and followed.
As he walked, Pulsey looked around, and soon his gaze settled on a wild rabbit.
Just like last night when he killed the rat controlled by Norn, Pulsey raised his hand and waved, sending an invisible gust of wind rushing towards the hare.
Startled, the hare took off running, its upper and lower body separating instantly with a push from its front paws.
Pullshi picked up the hare's two halves and muttered to himself, "How about we have roasted rabbit today?"
"Hmm~ Katie, what did you say? You don't want to eat roasted rabbit? Don't be so stubborn, everyone wants to eat rabbit!"
……
Norn perched on the tree trunk above Pulsey's head, watching Pulsey mutter to himself in different tones, and thought to himself, "Is this guy schizophrenic?"
Pullshi carried the rabbit carcass to the riverbank and sat down on a riverbank with practiced ease. There was a stone fire pit there, filled with twigs and ashes that hadn't been completely burned.
He took out a dagger, quickly skinned and gutted the rabbit, added some new wood to the fire pit, and lit it with fire magic.
The prepared rabbits were skewered on branches and slowly roasted over a fire.
What happened next was something that Norn couldn't believe:
Pullshi opened his bag and took out pieces of blood crystal, arranging them neatly around the fire pit. In no time, all the blood crystals in the bag were taken out.
Pullshi squatted in the circle of blood crystals, smiling as he tended to the rabbit, occasionally muttering to himself:
"Andy, do you think this rabbit smells good? You worked hard serving me last night, I'll give you the rabbit leg later."
"What?! Carter, you want to eat raw meat? No, no, no, that will give you a stomachache."
"Very well, Manrat, you will serve me tonight."
……
After a while, the rabbit was roasted, and Pulsi cut it into several small pieces with a knife, then placed them in front of each blood crystal.
Now Norn completely understood. This guy treated the blood crystals as his friends, just like anime fans treat their figurines. In his eyes, these stones that only emit red light were all his close friends, which also explained why he didn't sell the blood crystals.
"He's a genius. He can even accurately identify the name of every blood crystal," Norn exclaimed in amazement.
Pulsi finished his portion of rabbit meat and casually threw the bones into the river.
"This rabbit meat tastes amazing, doesn't it, Katie?"
"What? How come you're always thinking about that kind of thing?"
"I really can't do anything with you, so I'll just have to give in to you."
Pullshi picked up a relatively large piece of blood crystal, kissed it a few times, and then stuck out his tongue and licked it a few times.
He then leaned against the earthen slope.
"Oh my god..."
Norn froze on the tree trunk, completely overturning his previous assessment of the blood crystals.
They weren't just close friends of Pulsi, they were a couple!
A few minutes later, Pulsi stopped, panting heavily. The blood crystal on his hand was sticky, and the red light turned pink through the white.
"Katie, you're amazing! You're much better than Andy."
After saying that, Pulsi shakily spread his wings, swooped down, and snatched a piece of blood crystal.
Upon hearing the sound, Pullshi quickly turned around, walked to the riverbank, and put the dirty "Keddy" into the river to wash it.
Norn sensed his chance had come. He immediately saw a large bird carrying his wife away and panicked, yelling, "Loki! No!!! You damned bird, put her down!"
A verdant magic array appeared on his hand, and several wind blades pierced through the air.
Norn dodged and weaved through the air, dodging attacks one after another, and gradually disappeared into the distance, leaving a desperate Pulsey crying uncontrollably on the spot.
Norn tossed the blood crystal called "Loki" next to his body, then retrieved his brain and tucked it into a lining of his clothes.
Feeling the heavy weight in his chest, a plan began to take shape in Norn's mind.
After Norn put away the blood crystal, he turned and ran back into the cave.
