The eldest son knelt on his bed and kneaded it back and forth until all the wrinkles were smoothed out before he got up.

"Lord Norn, please sleep in my bed tonight. My brother and I will make do for the night."

Norn nodded, his eyes fixed on the entrance to a cavern.

According to Batel, the place used to be a food storage area to keep out rats that would get into the hole, but now it's where Pulsi sleeps.

At that moment, Norn noticed that Bartel was also staring at that spot.

Noticing Norn looking over, Batel quickly turned around, picked up a pottery jar, and prepared to leave.

"What are you going to do?" Norn asked.

"I'm going to feed the little rascals outside. Could you help me fetch some water if you'd like?" Batel pointed to a water tank and a wooden bucket in the corner.

Norn agreed, went over and filled the bucket with a wooden ladle, then put the ladle in the bucket and carried it out.

The two walked to a cage, from which Norn could see the condition of the demi-human girls.

There were three girls in the iron cage, one dog-headed person and two cat-people.

They lay on the ground, and the movement of the two made them open their eyes. The three pairs of numb eyes lingered on Norn's unfamiliar face for a moment before turning away.

Batel used a wooden spoon to hook a food bowl closer, then reached into the earthenware pot and scooped out a large spoonful of brownish-yellow, viscous paste, which he then slammed onto the food bowl.

The dog-headed girl was clearly starving, her eyes fixed on the overflowing food bowl. With her hands shackled, she could only kneel before the bowl and bury her head to eat.

It looks almost exactly like a real dog.

"What do they eat?" Norn felt that this paste was very similar to what he had eaten in Milenna Prison before.

"The feed we use to feed livestock is called yellow mud. A big bag costs only 60 copper coins. A fistful can be turned into a big bucket with just a little water. It's perfect for feeding these guys."

Bartel pointed to another wooden basin and said, "Lord Norn, that's for water. Just scoop out a spoonful, otherwise these guys will pee if they drink too much."

Norn suppressed his anger and poured a spoonful of water into the basin.

Water was much more appealing than the unpalatable feed porridge. The moment it was poured, the girls in the cage immediately swarmed around it, vying to drink it, and soon it was all gone.

But they still hadn't had enough to drink, looking at Norn pleadingly.

"Damn it, stop looking at me like that, it's disgusting!"

Norn cursed and scooped up a spoonful of water, splashing it at them.

The girls quickly buried their heads in the ground and frantically licked the water stains.

Despite Norn's obvious disdain, Bartel noticed it nonetheless.

"Lord Norn, if you feel sorry for them, you can give them an extra spoonful."

"What do you mean? You think I sympathize with these demi-humans? Those demi-humans stole my money and locked me up. I feel disgusted whenever I see demi-humans now!"

"No need to pretend, you are definitely a kind person, that's for sure. I could tell from the bottle of healing potion you gave me. Even though you have a grudge against the demi-humans, you must still feel sad to see these girls suffering. That's normal."

But they aren't human; they're no different from livestock that only eat, drink, defecate, and sleep. You can only continue doing this with a clear conscience once you understand that. If you still feel bad about it, then we'll do these jobs from now on; you just need to take the money.

After saying that, Batel led Norn to another cell to continue serving water and food.

A few minutes later, Norn and Batel returned with empty pottery jars and empty barrels.

Inside the cave, time was lost. Batel's two sons had fallen asleep. The younger son had pulled the blanket away, leaving the older son's entire body exposed.

After covering his eldest son with a piece of cloth, Batel casually shooed away a passing mouse.

Norn lay on the makeshift bed his eldest son had prepared for him, wrapping himself tightly in a blanket to prevent mice from getting into his bed.

But he didn't intend to sleep. He wanted to sneak into Pulsi's cave and subdue him while they were all asleep, and then use lightning magic to kill Batel and the others one by one.

Judging from his previous encounter with the demi-humans, Batel's strength was far inferior to his own; even without using lightning magic, he could easily defeat him.

The real trouble is that dark magician named Pullshi. If we can get rid of him, we can rescue those demi-human girls.

Moreover, he might later get information about the Killing Curse from Pulsey, and from then on, he would truly become a man again!

Thinking about this, Norn was so excited that he couldn't sleep.

After listening to his two sons' alternating snoring for what seemed like an eternity, Norn decided it was time to act.

Just as he was about to get up, a foot landed silently in front of him.

These are Batel's feet.

Norn quickly closed his eyes, squinting to observe the foot, while secretly preparing a lightning strike with his right hand under the covers.

Bartel glanced at Norn and left, heading towards Pulsey's cave.

Norn opened his eyes and saw that he was still holding a dagger in his hand.

Did he also want to assassinate Pulsi?

That won't do! What will happen to my Dio if he dies?

But getting up and going there right now is obviously not appropriate.

Then Norn spotted a mouse eating bread crumbs in the corner.

He decisively took control of it and followed Batel into the cave.

The cave was small, with several wooden barrels and burlap sacks piled on one side, and Pulshi's sleeping area on the other.

He lay on his side on several layers of cotton mats, his back to the door, his snoring, sometimes loud and sometimes soft, echoing in the cave.

"No wonder there wasn't even a mattress for me to put on the bed; this guy took them all."

Norn thought to himself and understood Batel's motives to some extent. He was probably worried that Pulsi would turn on them after selling the demi-human girls and then turn against them and take them all down with him. That's why he thought of striking first.

Batel must have been a thief in the past, because he walked slowly and quietly, without making a sound, like a ghost coming to Pulsi's side.

A gleaming dagger hung over Pulsey's neck. Norn shuffled his heel on the ground, preparing to rush over and stop Bartel, but the dagger suddenly stopped in mid-air and slid down in an arc.

A red halo appeared along the trajectory of the dagger, vaguely outlining a sphere that enveloped Pulsi.

"Can this guy cast barrier magic while he's sleeping?"

Batel was in a bit of a predicament, but fortunately the barrier was silent. So he gripped the dagger in his right hand and kept stabbing at the barrier while pounding on it with his left hand, trying to break through it.

Suddenly, Batel stopped moving and stared in horror at Pulsi's eyes, which had suddenly opened.

"What do you want to do?"
