85. Quit?
Pullshi lay motionless on the ground, his mouth opening and closing, his eyes staring straight at the cell ceiling, and beads of sweat on his forehead.
Norn had experienced that blissful feeling before, and knew that he was now completely immersed in that wonderful illusion.
"Let's go, let him enjoy himself here." Norn put the remaining Soul-Stealing Water into his robe and left the cell with Berto.
When night fell, Berto had something urgent to attend to, so he used his connections to get Norn a pass and went about his own business, leaving Norn to come to the dungeon alone.
Meanwhile, the cells next to Pulsi's were empty. The three of them had been taken to the execution ground that afternoon, and if nothing unexpected happened, they would now be decapitated.
Pulsey was supposed to be executed today, but he was allowed to live a little longer because of Norn's influence.
Back in Pulshi's cell, Pulshi huddled in a corner, shivering as if exposed to the cold wind.
He didn't react much when Norn came in, until Norn took out the purple potion, at which point he suddenly became excited and roared as he pounced on Norn.
Norn kicked him hard, sending him flying. Pulsey clutched his chest in agony, but the pain slightly lessened his craving for the drugs. He shakily turned over and asked:
"Damn it, what did you feed me? I'm so itchy all over!"
Norn stepped on Pulsey's chest and held the Soul-Stealing Water above Pulsey's eyes.
Pulsey stared at the dreamy purple with dazed eyes, and Norn could feel the frantically beating heart beneath his feet even through the sole of her shoe.
"Do you want some? If so, tell me honestly, what exactly is that brand on the back of my neck?"
"Damn it, are you out of your mind?! How many times do I have to tell you? That's just a normal scratch!"
"Nonsense! If it's just a regular wound, why won't it heal?"
"The Reaper's Scythe! This dark magic can create wounds that never heal. That guy probably used this magic!"
I've said everything I needed to say. Just give me that thing now, I really, really can't take it anymore!
Pulsi's eyes were frighteningly red, and he was frantically scratching at his thighs with both hands, which sent chills down one's spine.
Under Pulsey's eager gaze, Norn uncorked the bottle, dipped his index finger into the jar, touched the Poison of Souls, and then knelt down to smear it on Pulsey's philtrum.
When the pungent smell wafted into Pulsey's nose, his expression involuntarily twitched, finally revealing an extremely ugly smile.
Norn looked at Pulsey and couldn't help but think that the name "Soul-Stealing Water" was not an exaggeration at all.
The thing under my feet no longer looks like a human; it's practically a mindless zombie!
"Could it be that Angre really lied to me? There was no such thing as a Killing Curse at all?" Norn wondered to himself.
Suddenly, Pulsey twisted his body with all his might, and Norn lost his balance. The Soul-Stealing Water in his hand fell to the ground and shattered, splattering purple liquid all over the ground.
Pulsi quickly lay down on it and started licking it frantically with his tongue.
After his craving subsided slightly, Pulse got up, panting, clearly having regained his senses.
Norn took a blood crystal from the bag and tossed it next to Pulsey.
"I promised you, here's one for you to play with, but I'm taking it back after you're done."
Pullshi wearily raised the blood crystal, recognizing at a glance that it wasn't his "wife," but it was just what he wanted.
"I'm so sorry, you're really beautiful, but I'm really upset right now, please forgive me."
Pulsey didn't use the stone for anything underhanded; he simply held it silently in his hand. As the blood crystal in his palm emitted a red glow, alarm bells rang in Norn's mind.
Bouchou! This guy's going to use dark magic!
"Behave yourself! Your wives are still in my hands!" Norn shouted, pointing the lightning array at the blood crystal in the bag.
"No...don't panic, I didn't mean to...Ughhhhh!!!"
Pullshi was speaking incoherently when he suddenly cried out in pain.
Immediately afterwards, his eyes rolled upwards, and large amounts of blood suddenly flowed from his ears and nose, and his whole body began to convulse.
"What the hell? Is this guy mutating?" The scene before him reminded Norn of the movie Train to Busan.
As the bleeding increased, some necrotic tissue began to flow out of the nose along with the blood.
At first, there was only a little bit, but then it was as if a floodgate had been opened, and large clumps of fleshy tissue flowed out rapidly, filling the nostrils completely, like two sausages slowly growing out of the nostrils.
Soon, the bits of flesh piled up into a small mound on Pulsey's chest.
He blew his nose one last time, expelling the remaining bits of flesh from his nasal cavity, and only then did the blood crystal in his hand stop glowing.
"What did you do?" Norn asked softly, though he wasn't actually sure if Pulsey was still alive.
Pulsi lay on the ground, the mountain of flesh on his chest rising and falling with each breath.
After a while, he raised his hand to push away the mountain of flesh on his chest, wiped the blood from his face, and said weakly, "Finally, I'm back to normal..."
"What do you mean? You've given up this stuff?" Norn was shocked.
Pullshi pointed to the pile of rotten flesh on the ground. "These are my brains. I grew a new, healthy brain inside my skull, one that wasn't damaged by your potion, and then squeezed the old one out."
"Dark magic? Can it really do something like this?" Norn stared blankly at the pile of minced meat.
"Hmph! I did all this because of you! You have no idea what that feels like, it's worse than death! You made me suffer like this for nothing, shouldn't you make amends?"
After Pullshi finished speaking, Norn threw another piece of blood crystal over.
Pullshi caught it carefully, cursing, "Damn it! That's not what I meant! Let me out! I've said everything I needed to say, you should believe me now, right?"
"Whether I release you or not is not up to me. You killed those demi-humans, and you should face their judgment, but..."
Norn thought of Mussolo's bedridden wife and felt that although this method was horrifying, it might be able to help him get rid of the Poison of Souls.
"I can introduce you to the chief here. If you can help him kick his wife's drug addiction, you might be released."
"Then you must make it clear to it that this method is very difficult, and it might die if you're not careful. Make it prepare so it won't blame me when it dies!"
Norn left the dungeon and ran to the chieftain's mansion to tell Mussolo about it.
The next morning, Norn followed a group of demi-human soldiers to the dungeon and took away Pulsi.
