Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds: The Path of Evolution

"Based on the Counterattack Gate's ability, the card I drew is Scrap Goblin, so I'll Normal Summon it in Attack Position!"

Allen summons the card he drew.

It was a small, iron contraption, its body pieced together from various discarded mechanical parts, its head resembling an inverted iron bowl.

It stood on the field, looking as if it would fall apart at the slightest breeze.

"Minion monsters..."

Knowing he couldn't finish off the enemy this round, Yamashiro spat in frustration and then shook his hand dismissively.

"Tch, mech skeleton, attack the scrap metal goblin!"

The orange robot leaped into the air, and its iron fist, descending from the sky, slammed directly into the scrap metal goblin.

The goblin couldn't withstand the force and was sent flying backward, knocking Allen down with it.

The immense force was transmitted to Allen; even though it was a virtual image, the 1800 damage was enough to rival a punch to the abdomen from an adult.

[Alan's LP: 400]

Allen struggled to his feet again, sensing the strange gaze from the mountain town.

"How come this weak monster wasn't destroyed after taking a hit from my mecha's mechanical skeleton?"

"I'm puzzled," Shancheng asked.

Allen, clutching his stomach in pain, still mocked Shancheng.

"The Scrap Goblin's special ability is that it can't be destroyed in battle! What, you talk about it being a weakling monster, but you can't even destroy one?"

Shancheng frowned. How dare this trash from the satellite district mock him now?

Haven't you had enough of being punched?

"Hmph, you're lucky to have escaped with your life."

"My turn is over!"

Allen slowly recovered from the excruciating pain, but his heart remained ice-cold.

The opponent has a super monster with an attack power of 2500, while you only have a scrap metal goblin on the field.

While the Scrap Goblin cannot be destroyed in battle, it has the drawback that it will be destroyed at the end of the battle phase if its defense is attacked.

Therefore, it can only last for one more round on its own at most!

With just one more turn, you simply can't draw a card that can rival the Mech Fortress!

How should we fight next...?

Am I going to fall in the quarterfinals again, just like before?

no……

He wants to win!

He still has some basic points left, and as long as he can still draw cards, he will have a chance to turn the tide.

"Allen's basic score is down to only 400, like a candle flickering in the wind!!"

The host's voice echoed throughout the arena.

"This is a huge advantage for Yamashiro! With two powerful monsters, he's practically guaranteed victory! How is Allen supposed to survive this onslaught?!"

Led by the Gear Gang, half of the audience shouted in unison.

"Impossible!!"

"City of Chongqing will prevail! That little guy on the other side, go home and suckle!"

"Scrap metal, doomed to defeat today!"

Other spectators were also swayed, and although they weren't as extreme, they cheered for the mountain city.

Allen looked up and saw the surrounding audience cheering for the mountain city, but among this group of bloodthirsty spectators, his companions were cheering for him from the stands opposite him.

Joel was shouting encouragement, her voice carrying powerfully through the roaring crowd and into Allen's mind.

Guan Bai saw the look in Allen's eyes as he sought support.

He tapped the deck in the duel disk, then gave Allen a thumbs up.

Allen understood.

Yeah, he should be drawing cards now.

"My turn... draw a card!!"

A golden streak flashed by—the light reflecting off the card under the spotlight.

Allen saw the card; it was the Scrap Stone!

Attack power 2300, effect is to revive a scrap metal monster in the graveyard.

A bolt of lightning flashed, and the cards that had been used earlier connected in Allen's mind as if they were glowing.

We won!

"I liberate the Scrap Goblins, and the superior summons the Scrap Golems!"

With heavy footsteps, a colossal monster emerged from the air. Its body was also pieced together from various scraps, and its main body was even a rather large, broken refrigerator.

The revival effect of Scrap Stone Golem can do more than just revive monsters on your field!

The stone man slammed his hammer into the ground, knocking out the slumbering Iron Search Bird from underground and throwing it onto Yamashiro Tsuyoshi's field.

Yamashiro Takemoto was completely bewildered, feeling that the garbage in this satellite district had gone mad.

"Huh? You sent your monster to my field? What, is this a gift of surrender?!"

Allen gave a thumbs-down and mocked viciously.

"Idiot, look at your game!"

Yamashiro's Duel Disk emitted a notification sound indicating that an effect was about to be activated. He read out the effect of the Scrap Bird with a puzzled look.

"The effect of Scrap Bird... activates upon successful Special Summon: destroy all monsters on your field except Scrap Bird?!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than the Scrap Bird landed, creating a massive explosion on Yamashiro Tsuyoshi's field!

With a deafening roar, all the monsters in the mountain city were destroyed!

Blow them up to scrap metal!

"Ha, now who's the worse one?!"

Allen shouted and threw a powerful right punch.

"Scrap Stone Golem, attack the Scrap Search Bird!"

"The Giant Stone Hammer!"

The towering monster slowly approached, but the Scrap Bird didn't even try to dodge, instead pecking at the metal scraps on its body.

Under the fierce hammer blow, the scrap metal search bird was knocked away and aimed its sharp beak at Yamashiro Tsuyoshi's chest!

"Guwaaaaaah—"

Yamashiro Takemoto's tall body flew backward like a billiard ball, creating a deep dent in the ground below.

Won!

The host confirmed the results of the competition immediately.

"An incredible comeback! Allen, under extreme circumstances, used ingenious tactics to defeat a powerful enemy!"

"I declare Allen the winner of Match 3 of the quarterfinals!"

The audience, who had been led astray, were all stunned, and the stands fell silent.

Until Joel and Kanpaku's voices rang out.

"Well done, Allen!!"

Led by the two, the entire audience snapped out of their silence and erupted in cheers like a tidal wave.

Bathed in cheers, Alan was moved to tears. This was the first time since he was born that he had overcome the shadows of the past.

He's already in the semifinals!

In the stands, Joel and Guan Bai gave him a thumbs-up.

Allen responded with an excited smile.

Grey Serpent Studios emerged victorious in today's match!

……

The few remaining members of the Gear Gang scattered among the audience fell silent. They slunk backstage and joined Shancheng, who was also looking like a stray dog.

"Hey, who's this Allen?"

Shancheng gritted his teeth and said.

The thugs of the Gear Gang looked at each other in bewilderment, and one of them stepped forward.

"I don't know. His best result in previous years was reaching the quarterfinals, so we have no information about his background."

Another hoodlum who knew more added.

"The only thing we know is that this person is backed by a tiny force called the Gray Snake Gang."

Yamashiro Tsuyoshi said angrily.

"It was this small fry that gave me a crushing defeat! Tell your boss to send me the address of that Gray Snake Gang!"

The thug dared not disobey, so he called the leader of the Gear Gang and asked him to fax a map to the mountain city.

The thug cowered.

"The boss said we can only find a general area. The Gray Snake Gang is outside our sphere of influence... so..."

"Hmph, that's enough!"

After receiving the information, Yamashiro turned around and left the place in a hurry.

The thugs behind couldn't stop them, so they could only contact their boss while chasing after them.
