Marvel: Starting with the forced creation of villainous characters
Chapter 18: A vast network of power.
"That bastard really dares to write anything on the documents. You're lucky to have Hydra involved," Mark exclaimed sincerely, then hid the documents.
With dirt on over 100 members of Congress and numerous scandals involving high-ranking government officials, if used properly, Mark could very well become the ruler of this country.
Of course, this is on the premise that he himself possesses a certain level of military strength.
After all, even a rabbit will bite when cornered, let alone someone who is involved in politics. They would kill to silence someone even if they weren't pushed to the brink, let alone when they are driven to the edge of a cliff.
"These things are useful, but we don't need them right now." Mark quickly calmed down and left the bedroom.
Upon entering the living room, Mark saw Esther and Emma playing chess, Mindy sitting at a small table maintaining firearms, and the taciturn water sprite watching television.
If we disregard the identities of these people, the scene in this room is indeed quite cozy.
Mark said to the three women, "I'll be inviting a guest over in a bit. Mindy and I are going out to get something to eat."
Without looking up, Esther said, "Then go, be careful."
Emma asked warmly, "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"No need, Mindy and I will go. Just stay home and be careful." Mark said, then called Mindy over and they went out together.
Mindy's current role is that of an armed bodyguard. He always calls Mindy when he goes out, because he really doesn't feel safe in a poor neighborhood like Queens.
Mark can cook, mainly because he knew how to cook a few simple home-style dishes in his past life, as well as some simple pizzas and sandwiches.
After returning from grocery shopping, Mark contacted Skye and invited her to come over for a visit.
Skye didn't refuse, because Mark also said he wanted to talk to her about the orphanage.
Standing on a stool, Mark spent almost two hours preparing the dishes, by which time it was already one o'clock in the afternoon.
Since it was her first visit, Skye brought some gifts, including snacks and drinks for children.
Skye, visiting the house for the first time, looked at the well-behaved children inside and inwardly cursed this damned world.
There's no way around it, this scene is just too heartbreaking.
From the kitchen, Mark called out loudly, "Skye, have a seat, the food will be ready soon."
Mindy warmly pulled Skye to sit down at the table. Skye stared blankly at the familiar yet unfamiliar Chinese home-style dishes on the table.
Skye knew she was of mixed East and West descent, but she didn't know exactly which country. However, she felt a sense of familiarity with the dishes.
Mark brought the last dish to the table and sat down. He had not only made stir-fries, but also prepared some sandwiches, pizzas, and roast meats that were more suitable for Western tastes.
Mark said to Esther, "Este, this is Skye. She used to live in an orphanage. We're going to send you to the orphanage where she used to live."
Skye added, "The orphanage I lived in before was quite nice. There were many philanthropists who donated to it every year, and there was no illegal activity like buying and selling orphans."
Esther calmly retorted, "How do you know that orphanage hasn't done anything illegal behind the scenes?"
"Because after I left the orphanage, I hacked into the orphanage's system to investigate my background, and yesterday I also investigated the background of the orphanage. I guarantee that there is nothing wrong with that orphanage," Skye explained very seriously.
After all, that was her alma mater, and she didn't want anyone to deliberately smear or question it.
Esther didn't speak, but instead began to ponder.
As an adult, she didn't have high expectations for the orphanage, as long as it wasn't as bad as the last one.
Esther continued, "Are there many families adopting children from the orphanage each year?"
"There are plenty. If you're willing, you'll usually be taken away within one or two years," Skye replied.
Esther then asked, "What are those families' circumstances like?"
Skye: "It's all good. If a family's financial situation isn't good, the orphanage won't allow them to adopt a child."
Esther then asked many more related questions, and after confirming for the time being that there were no problems with the orphanage, Esther said, "Then let's go take a look tomorrow."
Skye nodded. "No problem, you'll definitely like it there."
Skye found the little girl to be quite mature, asking some questions that were more professional and realistic than those of the adults, though this was nothing unusual in America.
With Esther's fate finally settled, Emma's lips curled into a slight smile, and she thought to herself, "Consider yourself lucky. If you really hadn't stayed..."
She has at least nine ways to make someone die in an accident, nine ways!
Skye then looked at the other children, tentatively asking, "So you really aren't going to the orphanage?"
Mark, Mindy, and Emma exchanged glances, then said in unison, "We can take care of ourselves."
"Well, you guys are really impressive," Skye complimented with a smile.
In fact, she did think Mark was quite impressive. Putting everything else aside, his skill alone was something a child shouldn't possess.
Moreover, she found the children in the room to be quite interesting: Emma, who was precocious in intelligence; Esther, who was precocious in psychology; Mindy, who was precocious in combat; and Mark, who didn't seem like a child at all.
The only one who seemed somewhat normal was the quiet little girl named Water Sprite.
However, Skye had a gut feeling that this little girl was not simple either.
After lunch, Mark offered, "Skye, do you have a place to stay? Why don't you come and stay with us? We have plenty of empty rooms."
Before Sharon Carter came along, he really didn't want to live under the same roof as Skye, but now it doesn't matter anymore.
As the saying goes, "a lot of lice don't itch, and a lot of debts don't worry." Since we're already being watched by S.H.I.E.L.D., there's no use being timid. We might as well keep Skye, this technical talent, by our side.
Skye is only 17 years old this year. In the judgment of the junior villain halo, she should also be considered to be among the group of immature people.
After all, in the United States, 18 is considered an adult, and in some states, it's even 21.
In other words, if Skye is willing to stay, her villainous aura will continue to work on her for at least another year.
A year should be enough time for the other person to become a fanatical follower.
Skye hesitated. She was currently living in a motorhome, not because she was short of money, but because it was safer.
After all, she is a hacker now. If she stays in one place, it would be easy for someone to pinpoint her location and come looking for her.
