Marvel: Starting with the forced creation of villainous characters
Chapter 24: Superpower Awakening.
Jessica Jones stood there, somewhat questioning her existence.
Isn't it said that mutants are freaks and at the bottom of the social hierarchy?
Why...
Jessica Jones looked at Mark blankly, but instinctively replied, "I feel like I've become very strong, almost to the point of being unable to control it."
After saying that, Jessica Jones pointed to the broken bed next to her: "I just pressed down lightly, and the bed collapsed under my weight. I feel... I have incredible strength right now."
"A physical enhancement type of superpower? And there haven't been any obvious changes in your appearance. Jones, could you be the legendary Chosen One?" Mark said with an envious tone.
Mark also knew that the most important thing was to keep Jessica Jones calm, at least to prevent her from feeling like a freak.
Thinking about this, we have to talk about the specific circumstances of the United States.
In the Marvel Universe, the racial hierarchy is roughly: purebred white, black, mixed-race black, Asian, and mutant.
There was supposed to be another Inhuman race, but the Inhumans' base is on the moon, and people often confuse Inhumans with mutants.
Therefore, mutants are at the bottom of the discrimination chain.
However, there are reasons why people are afraid of mutants. Newly awakened mutants cannot control their abilities well, and some mutants' abilities have great destructive power, which can cause great damage to the surroundings unintentionally.
In this situation, almost no normal person would want to be neighbors with a mutant, because in the eyes of most ordinary people, mutants are like bombs that could explode at any time.
Hearing this, Jessica Jones was both amused and exasperated. She wanted to cry because she might have become a mutant, but she also wanted to laugh because Mark was actually envious of her. Most importantly, Mark didn't look down on her.
Jessica Jones, her emotions a mix of confusion and nervousness, asked, "What should I do now?"
"Don't move around in the room. Try to adjust to the sudden surge of power," Mark reassured and encouraged him.
"I'll be watching you from the side. As long as we don't get too close, your out-of-control power won't hurt me."
After being comforted by Mark, Jessica Jones calmed down.
She started trying to grab the bedside table next to her with her hands.
Seeing the other person easily lift the nearly 50-pound bedside table with one hand, Ma Ke asked expectantly, "How does it feel?"
Jessica Jones said, "It's very light, it feels lighter than a regular plastic bag."
"Click~"
The edge of the bedside table that Jessica Jones was holding onto was crushed into powder by her. Without a grip, the bedside table crashed to the floor and shattered into pieces.
Jessica Jones stared in horror at the sawdust in her hand: "God! I didn't use any force at all."
Mark felt a chill run down his spine at the sight. What if his small arms and legs were grabbed by the other person, and he didn't manage to control his strength?
Mark, feeling a chill run down his spine, said, "Jones, I think what you need to control most right now is your grip strength."
Jessica Jones nodded quickly, at this moment she was somewhat at a loss, almost blindly following Mark's instructions.
A moment later, Mark came in with two trays of hard-boiled eggs.
Mark didn't dare approach Jessica Jones, but instead pushed the object in front of her from two meters away.
"Jones, now try to hold these eggs and peel them," Mark encouraged from the side.
Jessica Jones obediently reached for the egg, but the moment her hand touched it, the hard-boiled egg was crushed.
Seeing this, Mark continued to encourage her, saying, "It's okay, we can take it slowly."
Under Mark's command, Jessica Jones began training amidst a "ruin".
But after consuming countless hard-boiled eggs, Jessica Jones was finally able to barely control her power, at least she wouldn't crush things carelessly.
The initial training has yielded results. Mark said, "You rest here for a bit, I'll go get you some food."
Filled with gratitude, Jessica Jones watched Mark's departing figure with tenderness, feeling incredibly lucky.
Without Mark, she didn't know how she would have faced this sudden "change" alone.
After losing her parents, she became a freak. Without Mark's encouragement and support, she couldn't imagine how bad her life would have been.
Mark did not hide the fact that Jessica Jones had gained superpowers.
With Jessica Jones included, seven people lived under one roof, but each person reacted differently upon hearing the news.
Mindy thought it was cool, and even envied Jessica Jones for having superpowers.
Mindy looked at Jessica Jones in the room with envy: "If only I had such amazing superpowers, I could teach those outlaws in Hell's Kitchen a lesson."
Esther, on the other hand, was relieved that she was leaving today and that she would no longer have to live under the same roof as this monster.
Emma's reaction was indifferent; she showed neither fear nor envy, only simple curiosity.
Skye expressed concern, worried that Jessica Jones might accidentally hurt the children in the family.
The taciturn water sprite was the least noticeable, yet she showed great interest in this matter.
The water sprite watched Jessica Jones, who was wolfing down her food, with curiosity.
"This type of superpower, which enhances the physical body, currently exhibits immense strength and invulnerability, somewhat resembling Gilgamesh's superhuman strength and Icarus's superhuman defense," the water spirit mused to herself.
After lunch, Skye took Esther to the orphanage.
Esther never wanted to be with a bunch of kids in the first place, and she was still hesitant before. Now that there's another superpowered freak in the house, Esther really has no intention of staying here any longer.
She decided to stay at St. Agnes Orphanage without even doing much research.
With Skye's help, Esther checked into the orphanage that very day, looking so impatient that she didn't want to stay at home for even a minute longer.
Seeing the other person pack up and leave quickly, Emma nodded in satisfaction.
"Very good, now it's time to find the next target." Emma seemed to be surveying her own territory, her gaze lingering on the many girls.
Jessica Jones? Forget about her. She's got money to burn, and I can't afford to mess with her.
Mindy... this is a bodyguard. Before he turns 18, he can stay at home.
Then there's the water sprite, who has a withdrawn personality, little presence, and seems easy to bully.
Then there's Skye, who's also a tech-savvy person and might be able to help Mark in the future, so we'll put her aside for now.
After much deliberation, Emma set her sights on the most inconspicuous water sprite.
