Warhammer 40: Saviors Emerging from the Bottom

Chapter 12 The Motor Oil Guy and His Friends

A dangerous red light gleamed in the modified mechanical eyes of the servant, and several carbines hidden in the corners aimed at Xiao Yi's vital parts based on the data transmitted by the servant.

"Intruders, destroy them!"

The emotionless voice, like a court trial, pronounced judgment on the enemy's fate.

"Oh no, get out of the way!"

Upon seeing this situation, Charles, who had just reached the second floor, immediately realized something was wrong. He lunged forward, hoping to save Xiao Yi, but it was too late.

Several carbines fired their bullets almost simultaneously, and in the blink of an eye, they were in front of Xiao Yi. The image of blood and flesh flying everywhere flashed through Charles's mind, just when he was in despair and thought that everything was over.

A pale blue psionic shield suddenly appeared, neutralizing the bullet's kinetic energy and bringing it to a stop.

Looking at the somewhat rusted bullets, Xiao Yi breathed a sigh of relief. Although he felt that his physical strength would be sufficient to withstand these shots without any problems, it was still best not to try it unless in an emergency.

Upon discovering that the dangerous target in front of it had not been eliminated, the machine gunner immediately issued an order to load the carbine hidden in the shadows, preparing to fire again.

But having already realized what had happened, how could Xiao Yi possibly give it a second chance?

The pale blue energy shield vanished instantly, and the bullets, having lost their kinetic energy, scattered on the ground with a clanging sound. Then, a power sword gleaming with green light suddenly appeared in front of the servant and cleaved it in two with a single strike.

"You've already lost your chance."

After kicking the still-unlanding mech servant away, Xiao Yi warned his companions behind him, "Everyone be on high alert. There's a good chance there are other traps hidden here."

Xiao Yi didn't think a servant responsible for opening and closing the gate would be so aggressive. This was a factory that produced corpse starch, not a factory that produced Titans. Setting the security level too high would be a waste.

Someone must have modified the machine servant, and they are very likely hiding in the control room, which is only a few steps away.

To prevent the other party from escaping, Xiao Yi raised his hand and shot a green arc of electricity at the remaining body of the mech servant. It conveyed the signal to the base to open the door on behalf of the mech servant, whose whereabouts were now unknown.

Xiao Yi can not only put machines to sleep, but he can also force them to power on or send simple commands.

Click, click, the tightly closed iron gate slowly opened, attracting everyone's attention. The soldiers who had just been checking the surroundings for any other dangerous items immediately raised their guns, ready to face the unknown dangers behind the door.

When the iron gate opened to about half a meter, an Om Messiah axe, characteristic of the Mechanicus, emerged from deep within the gate and cleaved down towards Xiao Yi's face.

"I knew it." Xiao Yi did not choose to fight head-on, but instead dodged to the side. However, the enemy behind the door did not intend to let him go. The huge Ohm Messiah Axe suddenly flattened and began to sweep horizontally.

This attitude of putting people to death angered Xiao Yi. If it weren't for the red-robed oil man behind the door, he would have already chopped off the man's head with his sword.

Xiao Yi bent his knees slightly and leaped into the air, dodging the motor oil guy's sweeping attack. He then grabbed the handle of the Om Messiah Axe and firmly controlled it.

"Don't move, or your head might say goodbye to you."

Whether out of fear of the laser guns in Charles's hands or to hear what Xiao Yi would say next, the oil guy hiding in the control room of the corpse starch factory stopped.

His condition looked rather bad at this point. His left arm, which had been completely modified, had been torn in half by some unknown monster, leaving only his right arm, which had undergone half of the modification. There were several bullet holes in the armor on his chest, indicating that it had been pierced.

In the corner, there was a Casteran mech that had been half dismantled. It seemed that the wounded Mechanicus sage wanted to use the mech's parts to repair his wounds.

"Xiao Yi, an ordinary human being, what is your name?"

Several question marks suddenly appeared on the small display, which resembled goggles, in front of the Sage of the Mechanic Church, clearly indicating that he had some objections to Xiao Yi's self-introduction.

"According to the logic engine's calculations, the individual unit in front of us does not conform to the definition of an ordinary human being."

"Um, you don't need to worry about that. Just know that I'm a human. I want to know what happened to make a Mechanicus Sage with mechs end up in such a sorry state?"

Upon hearing this question, two flame-shaped patterns appeared on the small display on the Mechanicus sage's face. "Betrayal, heretics, the Sixth Regiment of the Hive City Garrison, a unit named Ivan has betrayed the Empire. He colluded with heretics to attack the loyal servants of the Ohm Messiah."

"The Sixth Regiment, isn't that the army that was responsible for guarding the bottom nest passage before?" Charles exclaimed immediately. If the fact was really as the Mechanicus sage in front of him said, then it would be terrible.

"Heretics, are you talking about those guys who like to chop people's heads off with melee weapons, or those guys covered in blisters and smelling like shit?"

"The attackers were a group of humanoid creatures who were infected with a deadly pathogen and were in a daze. One of them, Ivan, gained some kind of powerful mutation, and even our unit and the Casteran mech numbered BKD-9 were unable to win the battle."

"That means in addition to mindless zombies, we now also have to face crazed soldiers infected with the virus."

"To be precise, it was 135 infected soldiers and a monster named Ivan."

Upon hearing the sage's reply, Xiao Yi knew that his desire to have the followers of Khorne and Nurgle fight each other was temporarily out of the question.

To show the other party that he meant no harm, Xiao Yi loosened the handle of the Ohm Messiah Axe.

"We want to set up a temporary shelter here, gather survivors, and try to retake the surrounding factories. Would you be interested in joining us?"

The Sage of the Mechanic Church did not answer immediately, but began a series of calculations in his mind. As for why Xiao Yi was sure that the other party was making calculations, it was because various data were flashing wildly on the monitor on his face.

"According to system calculations, the survival probability of this unit after joining is 37 percent higher than when acting alone. Request approval."

"Friedrich von Clausewitz, the Sage of Explorers, is currently in charge of collecting various powerful ancient technologies lost on Mars."

Upon hearing the somewhat familiar name "Mars," Xiao Yi was momentarily taken aback.

Why did the Martian Sage of Forging come to Bakda?

What powerful technologies are worth recycling here?

"Anyway, welcome to the team."

Friedrich paused for a moment when faced with Xiao Yi's outstretched hand. His brain, riddled with tubes, frantically tried to figure out what the other person was doing.

It wasn't until Xiao Yi awkwardly tried to pull his hand back that Friedrich's brain recalled a memory from his time in the Martian library.

"This ancient ritual, which only exists in the history of Terra, is the first time our unit has seen it in reality."

Friedrich planted the two-meter-tall Ohm Messiah Axe in the ground, and extended his half-modified right hand to shake hands with Xiao Yi.
