The Wizard: Starting with Infinite Part-Time Jobs

Chapter 12 Rich Woman Vera, A Gift of Poison

There are so many creatures here. If we could find some to tame, we could really improve our mastery of the [Acrobat] profession.

Aiden silently made plans in his mind.

Simply raising and caring for someone does not increase control over them.

He needs more interaction, even if it's just getting these creatures to follow simple commands.

"Of course, if you want. But that would take much longer. These creatures are far too weak."

"If you want to get to the wizarding world sooner, spending time taming them is not a good option." Ms. Ollie's tone was flat, as if stating a given fact, without the slightest ripple.

"I understand. Thank you, Ms. Ollie." Aiden nodded.

His immediate priority is definitely the memory meditation method. Now that he has an additional energy-consuming task, his progress will certainly slow down.

Thinking of this, Aiden felt a bitter taste in his mouth.

"However, I also need to advance to the next level as a Black Market Beast Fighter. The name of that profession sounds powerful. Right now, I'm too weak; I'm no different from an ordinary passerby."

Aiden said goodbye to Ms. Ollie, agreed on their daily work schedule, and then left.

He encountered Bondi and Galatea waiting for him at the hidden exit he had come from. He then announced the good news that he had secured the position of Biological Culture Expert.

"My God, 10 magic stones a month as a reward, Aiden, you're rich."

Bondi's eyes widened, as if they were about to pop out of their sockets, and his breathing became rapid and heavy.

"I'm going to make you pay for this; you've never treated me to anything." He reached out and slapped Aiden hard on the shoulder.

"Congratulations," Galatea said with a genuine smile.

"It's no trouble at all. I'll treat you to a good meal when I get paid next month," Aiden said generously.

"That's rare. I thought you were going to be stingy your whole life," Bondi joked.

The tavern in the outer living area has a special menu that requires magic stones.

Bondi had treated Aiden to a few meals before, but Aiden thought it was too extravagant and only satisfied his appetite, so he never reciprocated.

"How about you guys? How's your shopping?" Aiden asked.

Aiden noticed that after he took on the role of training expert, both Bondi and Galatea looked at him differently than before, more like they were one of their own. The scrutiny and distance had disappeared, replaced by a warm and equal relationship.

"When you're out in the game, you have to have something of value to offer. Otherwise, relying solely on Mr. Ford's protection is just a mirage, and it will all be exhausted sooner or later," Aiden thought to himself.

"I sneaked into the witchcraft range and saw that the professional wizards there were training in elemental magic, some so powerful they could even smash a two-meter-wide tree," Bondi said with a look of longing. His face showed a look of fascination. "That's what a wizard should be like, not someone who spends all day cooped up indoors memorizing dry, boring meditation techniques."

"If you go to the tavern less often, you might speed things up a bit more," Aiden said.

"That won't do, I'll go crazy," Bondi said, shaking his head.

"I went to class and listened to some lectures on mysticism." Galatea spread out her notebook, which was filled with dense writing. "Consider it as previewing the material."

"I also saw that person. She was there too."

Galatea and Bondi exchanged a glance, and the latter cursed, "Is it that poisonous woman Vera?"

Bondi's face instantly turned a deep liver color, the veins in his neck bulged, and his teeth clenched so tightly they made a grinding sound.

Aiden was completely bewildered; he had never seen Bondi with such an unfriendly expression before, as Bondi was usually so carefree.

He blinked, his gaze shifting between the two of them, trying to find an answer.

I'd heard them mention it occasionally before; Vera was the jewel of the Fran Empire, the king's most favored princess, and the two countries bordered each other.

This Vera is the same girl who had a string of meditation stone fragments hanging from her hand when she first arrived in the Forbidden Forest Basin.

"Your Highness Bondi, gossiping behind people's backs is not in accordance with the etiquette of your Atlantis Empire's royal family."

A voice came from behind Aiden and his two companions, its tone icy, like shards of ice hitting a frozen surface in the dead of winter.

A girl with unusually two-colored pupils, wearing a semi-transparent gray cloak, stepped out, still wearing the meditation stone bracelet on her wrist.

"Vera, it's you. You really are here." Bondi said, his teeth clenched in anger. His hands were clenched into fists.

"Of course it's me. As the holder of the fastest memory speed in meditation, I naturally have the key to get in," Vera said, glancing at him.

Aiden also looked at her with some curiosity.

As a commoner, he knew nothing about the secrets among nobles, let alone those involving other countries.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, focusing his gaze on the girl's bracelet that emitted a faint, eerie light, and his heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason.

She is a wealthy woman with abundant resources.

"Galatiana, don't forget our bet. If you lose, you have to become mine." Vera's lips curled up, and she made a seductive lip-licking gesture towards the tall Galatiana, her tongue lightly tracing the corner of her lips.

Aiden stood to the side, his lips twitching.

Damn, so this rich woman has this kind of fetish.

Galatea's body trembled violently, her face turning pale instantly. Her previously calm and composed demeanor was completely gone, and her hands unconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes.

"If I win, you must not appear before me." Galatea took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, but her voice still trembled slightly.

"Now, please leave!" She waved her hand sharply, as if to drive Vera away.

"Hmph, I'm not happy anymore." Vera pretended to be angry, put her hands on her hips, and puffed out her cheeks.

"Hurry up," Bondi said impatiently, waving his hand dismissively.

"Who is this person? And you even brought servants in?" Vera exchanged a glance with Aiden before leaving.

She narrowed her eyes slightly, looking Aiden up and down, her brows furrowing as she observed his civilian clothes and undisguised gaze.

Aiden's gaze was calm, his face expressionless, devoid of any feelings of inferiority or jealousy, as he simply stared straight at Vera.

"What are you saying? This is my brother," Bondi retorted without hesitation, giving Aiden a hard pat on the shoulder.

"Your Highness Bondi, I suppose you'd like to taste my poisonous gift again." Vera revealed a sly smile, opening her hand to reveal a brown scorpion lying prominently in her snow-white palm.

The scorpion raised its pincers high and swung them at Bondi, making a hissing sound.

Bondi shrank back, took a step back, opened his mouth, but said nothing.

"Huh, such a docile desert scorpion. Desert scorpions are truly venomous creatures." Aiden leaned closer, examined it carefully, and whispered, "This girl is probably..."
