The Wizard: Starting with Infinite Part-Time Jobs

Chapter 129 Assassination Attempts Reappear, Invisibility Cloak

A week later.

For the past seven days, Aiden has stayed in his cabin and hasn't gone anywhere. He practices during the day and studies witchcraft at night, living a very regular life.

Meanwhile, on the edge of an island thousands of miles away from Rune Courtyard, the situation was completely different.

A high-ranking wizard apprentice, wearing a mask and shrouded in gray mist, looked at the compass-like object in his hand and muttered to himself, "This Aiden has probably joined the Rune Courtyard. I'm sure I haven't made a mistake."

He crouched behind a rock, the gray mist clinging to his body and drifting gently in the sea breeze.

The compass dial is engraved with intricate tracking arrays, and the central pointer trembles, firmly pointing towards the depths of the island.

He glanced at the Wizarding Daily in his hand and said, "After months of tracking, my three-star scout skills have finally come in handy."

He turned to a page in the middle of the newspaper, which had Aiden's name and a portrait printed on it.

His name is Carlos, and he is one of the best three-star scouts in the Ashes Brigade on the continent of Irelia.

Therefore, he accepted the task assigned by the leader and tracked them all the way from the original Forbidden Forest Basin.

He spent more than three months on this tracking.

"To be honest, Aiden is pretty sassy," Carlos muttered to himself.

"Mr. Ironbeard of the Forbidden Forest Basin was severely wronged by him, but unfortunately, Aiden's report has already been certified by the Wizarding Council, so no matter how much Mr. Ironbeard cries out for justice, it's to no avail," Carlos said, shaking his head.

He discovered this secret by chance while eavesdropping on Mr. Tetsu during his investigation.

He also heard that Mr. Ironbeard was planning to come to the Wizarding World to find his mentor and then report Aiden's plagiarism.

Carlos put away the props and newspapers together and stuffed them into the leather pouch at his waist.

His mask was a gray, ghostly mask, revealing only the lower half of his face and mouth. A slight smirk played at the corners of his mouth beneath the mask, carrying a hint of disdain.

"Someone like Mr. Tetsu can only watch helplessly when he gets ripped off; ultimately, it's because he's not capable enough."

"In the wizarding world, without strength, you can only be trampled underfoot; this is an ironclad rule."

"Forget it, Aiden will soon be a corpse. As for everything else, it's none of my business. I just need to complete the mission and collect the points," Carlos continued.

His tone was calm, as if he were talking about something very ordinary. Killing a novice wizard apprentice was indeed not a difficult task for him.

"Aiden's strength should already be at the intermediate level of a wizarding apprentice. He's still a newcomer, just getting familiar with the wizarding world. He poses no threat to me," Carlos nodded and said.

In his view, no matter how talented a newcomer is, he could never be a match for a veteran three-star scout like himself.

"The hardest part of this job is tracking; as for fighting or confronting the enemy, those are minor matters," Carlos said nonchalantly.

Soon, he took out a somewhat transparent robe and put it on, gradually blending his figure into the environment as he sneaked into the location of the rune courtyard.

As soon as the transparent robe was put on, a water-like pattern immediately appeared on its surface, spreading from the collar all the way to the feet.

Carlos's body outline began to blur, and his color slowly blended into the surrounding reefs and seaweed.

In less than three breaths, he completely disappeared, leaving only a series of shallow footprints on the sand beneath his feet, which were quickly smoothed out by the waves.

"I even specially requested a one-time cloak with invisibility magic this time. All I need to do is find an opportunity to kill Aiden," Carlos muttered to himself.

"In short, it's best to be cautious in everything. After all, this is a wizarding organization, so there must be first-level wizards. However, first-level wizards are unlikely to be so free that they can scan the entire organization without any blind spots every day," Carlos thought to himself.

Two days passed, and night fell. The entire island was pitch black except for the island's inhabitants and the wizard's tower.

Aiden was currently training in his room.

He sat cross-legged on the bed, his eyes closed, his breathing steady and long.

A faint spiritual energy flowed around him, like invisible threads vibrating in the air, emitting an almost inaudible buzzing sound.

The spiritual energy formed a faint light shield, enveloping his entire body and isolating him from external interference.

In his mind, the next stage of the rockfall meditation was constantly being simulated.

Once he has mastered the Falling Rock Meditation Technique to the next stage and learned a new zero-ring sorcery, he can begin preparing to break through to the level of a high-ranking wizard apprentice.

Just then, several noises suddenly came from outside the window, as if someone had been tied up.

The sound was very soft, mixed with the sound of fabric rubbing against the ground.

Not only that, there was also a knock on his door.

"Knock knock knock—"

"Is anyone coming to see me this late?" Aiden asked, frowning.

His right hand unconsciously reached under the pillow, where his green bow was hidden.

Soon, Aiden subconsciously activated his bio-radar.

There were two people in his courtyard, one of whom looked very much like Lord Lyon.

"Why is Lord Leon looking for me so late?" Aiden wondered.

He stood up and pushed open the door.

In the courtyard, the wizard Leon was holding down a figure who was bound hand and foot with one hand. The person's entire body was tightly bound by a light brown binding spell, making it impossible for him to move.

The person who was tied up had a rag stuffed in their mouth, and could only make indistinct whimpering sounds.

"Lie down here quietly," the wizard Leon said bluntly to the figure in the courtyard.

"Lord Lyon, this is..." Aiden's eyes widened.

The wizard Leon looked at Aiden, who opened the door with a puzzled expression, and said, "This guy was acting suspiciously, and he didn't have our Runeyard's insignia on him. I just happened to run into him. He was also wearing a robe with invisibility properties."

As he spoke, the wizard Leon flicked his finger, and his somewhat transparent robe appeared directly in front of Aiden.

The robe floated in the air, its surface rippling with faint waves.

The outline of the robe could be vaguely seen in the air, emanating a peculiar energy fluctuation that caused the surrounding air to distort slightly.

After looking at it for a few seconds, Aiden frowned and said, "This robe does indeed have invisibility properties, but why did you come to harm me?"

He looked at Carlos, who was wearing a silver mask, and asked.

At this moment, Carlos was terrified. He never expected that a newcomer of Aiden's caliber would be looked after by a formal wizard.

Just as he infiltrated to investigate the surroundings, he was caught by a first-ring wizard who appeared in front of him in an instant.

In that instant, he didn't even see how the other party appeared. He only felt a blur before his eyes, and a powerful mental force directly suppressed all the magic circuits in his body.

The feeling was like being crushed by a mountain from above, making him unable to even utter a spell, and draining all his strength.

So his knees buckled and he knelt on the ground, unable to even muster the thought of running away.

Even if he was a high-ranking wizard apprentice, in front of a first-ring wizard, he was no different from a chick crying for food on the roadside.

Carlos's body trembled uncontrollably on the ground, his face beneath the silver mask was deathly pale, devoid of any color.

Large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.

"I..." Carlos was so scared he wet himself.

A foul odor wafted from beneath him...

Carlos looked at Aiden, who looked exactly like the one in the Wizarding Daily, and began to feel a pang of jealousy.

"Why is it that, even though we're both wizarding apprentices, he has to be a scout, taking on assassination missions?" Carlos thought to himself.

"And Aiden, not only did he get his place in the Wizarding Daily through his own methods, but now that he wants to assassinate someone, he's encountered a legitimate wizard," Carlos continued to think.

"Judging from his demeanor as a formal wizard, he seems to have come to find Aiden by chance. But a busy formal wizard has incredibly precious time; how could he possibly come to find a newcomer!" Carlos roared inwardly.

Carlos's silence made Aiden even more annoyed.

He crossed his arms, raised his chin, and stared coldly at Carlos on the ground.

"Tell me the truth. Why did you come to harm me!" Aiden's tone was calm, but the oppressive feeling made Carlos tremble.

He could sense the chill emanating from Aiden; he was truly intent on killing him.
