The Wizard: Starting with Infinite Part-Time Jobs

Chapter 130 Lie Detector Fluid, Soul Extraction

"I..." Carlos stammered, preparing to make up something to help him survive.

His lips were trembling, his eyes were darting left and right, and his mind was racing, trying to come up with a way to save his life.

As long as you survive, there is hope.

After all, Aiden is just a young man, and young people are prone to being soft-hearted, in addition to being reckless.

"Why delay things? Just extract his soul directly." The wizard Leon immediately took out his wand.

Suddenly, a dense green light shone from the tip of the wand, like an eerie green star, turning the entire courtyard a ghastly green.

The spell transformed into a green, serpentine beam of light, instantly piercing into Carlos's skull.

A burnt smell filled the air, as if something had been burned.

Uh!

Carlos roared, his body arched, his limbs convulsed violently, and he foamed at the mouth.

A phantom soul flew out from the top of his head and was caught in the palm of the wizard Leon.

The soul was translucent, still struggling and writhing, emitting silent screams.

His face was contorted with fear, his features squeezed together.

The edges of the soul continue to crumble.

Then, the wizard Leon threw Carlos's soul directly into a palm-sized jar of green liquid.

The soul fell into the liquid, and the liquid in the bottle instantly became turbid.

"This is a lie detector. If he lies, his soul will suffer unbearable pain and never be reincarnated," the wizard Leon said nonchalantly, tossing the green liquid containing Carlos's soul toward Aiden.

Aiden quickly reached out and caught it; the glass bottle was icy cold to the touch, and Carlos's soul churned inside.

He could feel a faint vibration coming from inside the bottle; it was the soul struggling desperately.

Aiden: "..."

He was dumbfounded. Was this bearded wizard, Lord Leon, really that ruthless?!

His lips twitched, and for a moment he didn't know what to say.

"Kid, I want to remind you."

"We are wizards... Wizards are supposed to do whatever they want, and are seen as symbols of evil by the world. Even if we are white wizards, we don't need to show mercy to our enemies," said the wizard Leon seriously.

"I've learned a lot," Aiden said, as if waking from a dream.

He nodded quickly, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down.

"This method is actually a favorite of dark wizards, but I've learned some of it too, to save myself trouble," the wizard Leon said nonchalantly, as if extracting someone's soul was just a trivial matter.

Carlos's soul, trapped inside the glass bottle, was listening to their conversation and was in great pain.

The green liquid continuously eroded his soul, making him feel as if he were being burned by fire every second.

Because he knew he was finished; his physical body had gone limp, leaving only his soul remaining.

He could feel his soul being dissolved bit by bit, a pain a hundred times more intense than the physical pain.

"Damn, this level wizard is much more experienced than Aiden."

"It hurts so much! I feel like these liquids are burning me!" Carlos's cries of pain grew louder.

His soul tumbled and twisted inside the bottle, his face contorted beyond recognition, his hands pounding against the bottle's walls, yet no sound came out.

Only the liquid inside the bottle was constantly churning.

Each tap produced a dull thud from the bottle.

"Serves you right," Aiden sneered.

Leon and Aiden ignored him and simply placed the glass bottle in the garden before going into Aiden's house to talk.

……

Aiden brewed a simple pot of tea, picked up the teapot with both hands, poured a cup respectfully, and handed it to the wizard Leon, saying respectfully, "Thank you for your help, Lord Leon, in capturing this assassin."

Although it was all by chance, no matter what, the other person helped me a lot, and I should thank them in any way I can.

"It was nothing, just a coincidence." Wizard Leon waved his hand, his unkempt face showing no concern, and casually leaned back in his chair.

"I came here today specifically to verify the [Spirit] rune with you. Just as you said, it can indeed increase mental strength by 3%!"

The wizard Leon smiled broadly, picked up his teacup, blew on it gently, took a small sip, and was in a very good mood.

"That's the same result as my test," Aiden said with a smile.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

"My [Spirit] rune can increase mental strength by 20%, and this is only the initial rune; it can be upgraded later," Aiden thought to himself, but said nothing aloud, simply drinking his tea quietly.

"Do you know how many formal wizards, even after years of training, find it difficult to increase their mental strength by even 1%?" Wizard Leon continued, his tone tinged with emotion, and shook his head.

"I didn't know before, but I do now," Aiden said, nodding as he placed the teacup back on the table.

"It means this mental energy rune is really powerful."

"That's right," the wizard Leon said with a smile.

"I will report this matter to the Dean and let him decide whether to promote this rune. Compared to the [Strength] and [Agility] runes, this [Spirit] rune is much more attractive to wizards," Wizard Leon said seriously, his smile fading.

"No problem, it's all up to Lord Leon." Aiden nodded.

He wasn't afraid that his advantage would diminish if someone else learned the [Spirit] rune.

After all, his runes are the most effective, and with the added bonus of the Rune Child talent, it's no exaggeration to say that Aiden himself is the most suitable person in the Wizarding World to learn runes.

With this in mind, Aiden had a better understanding of the situation.

"Then just wait for my good news. Don't worry, you're the leader in our discipline. I'll find some new runes for you to decipher," Leon said with a smile, standing up and patting Aiden on the shoulder with the care of an elder for a younger one.

"Lord Lyon, I want to keep a low profile. In short, I don't want to be the leader. My strength is still too weak," Aiden said after a moment of silence.

Aiden's expression also changed, and his previous relaxed demeanor vanished.

"At the very least, I need to be able to protect myself before I want to become famous," Aiden said seriously, raising his head to look directly at the wizard Leon.

As he spoke, he pointed to the corpse of the assassin Carlos outside.

"People are afraid of becoming famous, just as pigs are afraid of getting fat. I'm just an unknown wizard apprentice, and someone actually wants to harm me." Aiden shrugged, his face full of bitter smile.

"Hmm, you have a point." Wizard Leon pondered for a moment, stroked the stubble on his chin, and nodded thoughtfully.

His gaze lingered on Aiden for a moment, as if he were re-evaluating the young man, his eyes showing a hint of approval.

"However, when you encounter danger, simply hiding isn't enough. You must at least know where the danger is coming from," the wizard Leon continued, his tone becoming serious.

After saying that, he took out his wand and tapped it lightly towards the garden outside the house.

A glimmer of light flashed at the tip of the wand.

Suddenly, a suction force appeared out of nowhere, the air jolted violently, and a low buzzing sound was heard.

The green liquid containing Carlos's soul flew from the direction of the garden at an extremely fast speed.

"Just ask him. He must have been feeling pretty bad these past few minutes," said the wizard Leon, shaking the bottle in his hand. The liquid inside churned, and a green light flickered.

Aiden nodded.

He was also puzzled as to why he had been approached by assassins again.

I haven't offended anyone recently, so why am I being targeted? I can't figure it out no matter how much I think about it.
