Reborn in 1970, I thrived in Hong Kong.

Chapter 7 Phoenix Daily, Mr. Cha on the 8th Floor

Piggy knew that voice all too well; it was Lei Luo's voice!

He quickly turned around, chuckled, and said nothing, nor dared to say anything. He just kept nodding and bowing. Whatever Lei Luo said, that was it; it was mandatory.

Lei Luo glanced at him, smiled, reached out and gently patted his shoulder again, said nothing more, and turned to leave.

Everyone here is a smart person, and he believed that Piggy had already taken his words to heart.

Meanwhile, after Li Huai-ren got into Li Zhao-ji's car, he called out "Fourth Uncle." Seeing Li Zhao-ji nod and then close his eyes to rest, he naturally wouldn't make a fool of himself by trying to chat with Li Zhao-ji.

The reason is simple: Li Zhaoji is his elder and the current patriarch of their lineage. If the elder doesn't speak first, it would be impolite for him to speak first.

The second reason is the vast difference in status between myself and Li Zhaoji. If Li Zhaoji doesn't speak, then my talking too much would be considered ignorant.

Li Zhaoji really did deliver on his promise to take Li Huai-ren home. His villa was on Hong Kong Island, but he crossed the harbor to take Li Huai-ren back to Beacon Hill first.

The car stopped in front of the villa. Li Huai-ren thanked Li Zhao-ji and was about to get out when Li Zhao-ji called him back:

"Ah Ren, your parents have been gone for three years, haven't they? It's been three years, you should be more mature by now."

You earned over two million today, but that's just because you were lucky today. It doesn't mean you'll be lucky every day in the future.

Your fourth uncle is asking you, "How do you plan to spend this money? You're not going to squander it all on a lavish party with your cronies again, are you?"

Li Huai-ren smiled sheepishly and blurted out without thinking:

"Fourth Uncle, I want to start a newspaper!"

"Start a newspaper?" Li Zhaoji was taken aback, quite surprised.

Li Huai-ren naturally wouldn't explain to him that his biggest purpose in starting the newspaper was to hoard copyrights. A thought struck him, and he explained:

"Fourth Uncle, look, the Ho family owns the Industrial and Commercial Daily and a commercial radio station. The Li family, as the British's agent, founded TVB. Even the Ma family, who sells flour, founded the Oriental Daily News."

Fourth Uncle, our Li family can't be without a channel to speak out!

"If something happens in the future, they will have newspapers, radio, and television stations as their mouthpiece, while we won't. That would put us in an extremely passive position."

Li Zhaoji was taken aback, then his eyes lit up.

After pondering for a moment, he turned and glanced at Li Huai-ren, then said:

"Since you're going to start a newspaper, then do a good job. If you need money, just tell your fourth uncle, understand?"

Li Huai-ren immediately nodded and replied:

"Okay, Fourth Uncle, I understand."

After getting out of the car and watching Li Zhaoji's vehicle disappear at the end of the road, Li Huai-ren turned around and went home.

Meanwhile, Li Zhaoji sat in the back seat of the car, lost in thought. After a long while, he suddenly said to the driver:

"Ah Qiang, Huai Ren wants to start a newspaper. Go and talk to those newspaper vendors yourself and ask them to take care of Huai Ren's newspaper."

Also, go and say hello to 14K, Yee On... all the gangs in Hong Kong..."

Meanwhile, Ye San Niang was overjoyed to see Li Huai Ren come home for dinner for the first time in over half a month, and quickly brought up the food she had already prepared.

Silent all night.

The next morning, Li Huai-ren, who had gone to bed early the night before, got up very early.

He was worried that his current body couldn't handle it, so instead of running, he went out and walked briskly along the road for half an hour, working up a sweat before going home.

Ye San Niang had already gotten up. She was overjoyed to see that Li Huai Ren had actually gotten up early to exercise, which was unprecedented for him. Without even noticing that it was only a little past six in the morning, she picked up the phone and called Li Ya Wen to tell her about it.

That day, Li Huai-ren didn't go anywhere. Apart from exercising his body and repeatedly practicing the few movements and breathing methods taught by the old Taoist priest named Zhang Quan-yi, he stayed in his study writing and drawing.

He stayed at home and didn't go out, but his name became known throughout Hong Kong because he won the 3T jackpot yesterday.

However, no newspaper reporters were able to obtain any inside information about his winning the jackpot, which only made more Hong Kong citizens curious about what signs preceded his windfall.

On January 3, 1970, Li Huai-ren commissioned his brother-in-law Luo Jiazhuang's law firm to register Phoenix Industrial Company offshore. Li Huai-ren held 1% control of the company, but on the surface, he only held 10% of the shares.

The following day, Li Huai-ren founded the Phoenix Daily.

Phoenix Daily is 90% owned by Phoenix Industrial Company, while Li Huai-ren only holds 10% of the shares on the surface.

For the next two weeks, Li Huai-ren returned to school on time and busied himself with preparing for the launch of the Phoenix Daily after school. He also exercised for two hours each morning and evening.

During this period, he visited Chen's Medical Clinic several times, and the old Taoist priest Zhang Quanyi adjusted the prescriptions several times according to his physical condition.

After taking the medicine prescribed by the old Taoist priest for more than half a month and not going out to indulge in debauchery, Li Huai-ren's body visibly gained weight and gradually returned to normal, and his complexion gradually became rosy.

Li Huai-ren is currently a Form 5 student at Min Sheng College, a private school that occupies 12 acres at the foot of Bijia Mountain.

Since he plans to apply to the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Hong Kong this October, Li Huai-ren is sure that English, mathematics, and Chinese are not a problem. However, the content of other subjects such as history and philosophy is different from that in mainland China, and the history he studies is British history, so Li Huai-ren has to study hard.

Fortunately, Li Huai-ren possessed the golden finger of photographic memory, a skill honed through rebirth, and since literature, history, and philosophy are mostly related to memory, he was able to relax a bit.

January 19, 1970, was an auspicious day for opening.

Early in the morning, Li Huai-ren, who was already on winter vacation, arrived at 12th Floor, 651 King's Road, North Point.

The receptionist saw Li Huai-ren, immediately stood up, and called out:

Good morning, boss!

"Good morning!" Li Huai-ren nodded and walked directly into the office.

He had only taken a few steps when he suddenly remembered that the receptionist who looked so familiar resembled someone else. Damn it, she looked just like Li Jiaxin!

He shook his head, thinking to himself:

"Li Jiaxin was born in June this year. She doesn't look like a pregnant woman. Also, Li Jiaxin was born in Macau, so it's unlikely that she is her mother."

Thinking of all this, he didn't dwell on it and hurried to his office. Today was the big day of the inaugural issue of the Phoenix Daily, and he had to be there in person.

He had just entered his office when Liu Yizhuang, the editor-in-chief of Phoenix Daily, knocked on the door and came in, saying with a mix of amusement and exasperation:

"Boss, Mr. Cha from the eighth floor arrived early this morning and is still sitting in my office."

He wants to see you, boss. Today is the first issue of our Phoenix Daily. He's been in my office the whole time. How should I handle this?

Sigh, I felt too embarrassed to kick him out.

"Boss, why don't you go see him? You're all in the same building anyway, you'll run into him sooner or later."

"Mr. Cha?" Li Huai-ren was taken aback.

"It's Mr. Jin Yong, the owner of Ming Pao on the eighth floor!" Liu Yizhuang quickly explained.
