Chen Hao gently put his arm around Lin Caiwei's shoulder, tenderly pulling her into his embrace, his tone firm:

"I won't let that terrible thing happen. I will protect you."

"But how will you protect her?" Lin Caiwei looked up at Chen Hao, her eyes reddening.

"When the incident finally broke out, the entire internet was in an uproar, everyone was talking about it, and no one could stop the spread of public opinion."

Chen Hao remained silent for a long time, weighing the pros and cons repeatedly in his mind, before finally speaking slowly, his tone calm and firm:

"If that day ever comes and the truth can no longer be concealed, then I will openly and honestly admit all my identities."

Lin Caiwei was stunned for a moment, staring at him blankly, her eyes full of surprise.

"I am Sisi's father, that's an indisputable fact, there's nothing to hide." Chen Hao's tone was calm, his words frank and open.

"I paint, write songs, and trade stocks. Every penny I earn is earned through my own hard work and honesty. There is nothing shameful about it."

I've been hiding my identity because my only concern was that public opinion would hurt you and Sisi, and that you would be troubled by cyberbullying and rumors.

But if I really can't hide it anymore, I won't hide anymore.

I can't protect your celebrity status, and I can't stop you from being the subject of gossip, but I will do everything in my power to protect you and Sisi from any real harm.

Listening to his calm and sincere words, Lin Caiwei's eyes slowly reddened, and warm emotions surged within them.

"Chen Hao..." she whispered his name, her heart filled with a bittersweet feeling.

"Don't cry." Chen Hao raised his hand and gently wiped away the tears welling up in her eyes, soothing her softly.

"It's not the worst yet, there's still hope, and I'll slowly find a way to resolve this safely."

Lin Caiwei sniffed softly, suppressing the stinging in her eyes, and leaned back on his shoulder. After calming herself down, she asked again:

"So, what are your plans for handling Yu Mobai's matter next?"

"If he dares to secretly follow me again next time, I won't hide anymore. I'll stop and talk to him face to face." Chen Hao's tone was decisive.

"Instead of letting him hide in the shadows to investigate and spy on us, constantly on guard against potential threats, it's better to lay everything out in the open and thoroughly understand his background and purpose."

"But aren't you afraid that after he's done talking, he'll turn around and spread your identity everywhere?" Lin Caiwei was still worried.

"If he really wanted to expose himself or spread rumors, he wouldn't have waited until now." Chen Hao saw things very clearly.

"He's been secretly investigating me for so long, constantly gathering information and following me stealthily, but his goal has never been to destroy me."

It wasn't about leaking information for publicity; he simply wanted to find Haolin and confirm my identity.

Lin Caiwei carefully considered his words and found them to make a lot of sense, which eased her worries somewhat.

"Then you must be careful, don't be impulsive, and don't have a direct confrontation with him," she earnestly advised.

"I know, don't worry," Chen Hao replied softly.

The two of them sat quietly on the sofa for a very long time.

The television was off, and the living room was quiet, without a single sound.

Only the wall clock ticked slowly, its rhythm steady and regular.

Occasionally, the sound of scattered traffic could be heard from the distant streets outside the window, but it quickly returned to silence.

In the next bedroom, Sisi slept soundly and quietly the whole time, without making a sound.

Lin Caiwei closed her eyes, leaning against Chen Hao's warm shoulder, her breathing gradually becoming even and gentle.

Chen Hao thought she was asleep, so he gently moved his shoulder, trying to adjust her position so she could lie down more comfortably.

"I'm not asleep," Lin Caiwei said softly.

"I thought you were asleep," Chen Hao replied softly.

"I'm thinking about something." Lin Caiwei slowly opened her eyes, looked at the dark ceiling, and asked softly.

"Chen Hao, do you think Yu Mobai will come again tomorrow? Will he continue to stake out and follow us?"

"I don't know either," Chen Hao said truthfully. No one could fully guess what the other person was thinking.

"Whether he comes tomorrow or not, you must be extra careful," Lin Caiwei repeatedly instructed.

"Even if you encounter him, speak politely and don't act impulsively or have any conflict with him."

"I've got it."

The living room fell silent again, and silence spread.

After a long while, Lin Caiwei spoke again softly, her tone tinged with a hint of tentative inquiry:

"Chen Hao, are you scared?"

Chen Hao pondered for a moment, then answered frankly, "I'm not afraid. It's just that it's incredibly troublesome, like having a bunch of unnecessary worries."

Upon hearing this, Lin Caiwei couldn't help but chuckle softly, her tone tinged with a mixture of indulgence and helplessness:

"You really are fearless."

Chen Hao looked down at her, his tone earnest yet gentle: "I also have things I'm afraid of."

"What are you afraid of?" Lin Caiwei looked up and stared straight into his eyes.

"I'm just afraid something will happen to you and Sisi, afraid that you'll get hurt in the slightest." Chen Hao's voice was deep and sincere, every word coming from the bottom of his heart.

Looking into his deep eyes, Lin Caiwei felt a surge of warmth in her heart, and most of her unease dissipated.

She nodded gently, her tone firm: "No, we'll all be fine, nothing will happen."

Chen Hao smiled, reached out and gently pulled her closer to his chest, protecting her tightly.

As night deepened, the warm lights in the living room remained on, their gentle glow filling the entire room.

The two nestled quietly on the sofa, saying nothing more, nor getting up to go back to their room to rest, simply keeping each other company in silence.

The scenes from the daytime kept replaying in Chen Hao's mind:

The gray sedan that followed closely, the unfamiliar man with his hat pulled low, the hurried footsteps in the mall, the tense standoff and escape process.

He felt neither panic nor fear, only utter calmness.

Over the years, he has experienced too many ups and downs and has long since developed a calm and composed temperament.

When trouble comes, we must meet it head-on. Since it has already come knocking, being anxious and panicked is useless. Only by responding calmly can we protect our families and solve the problem.

He gently closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and when he opened them again, only calmness and determination remained in his eyes.

Looking down, he saw that Lin Caiwei was completely asleep, leaning on his shoulder, breathing evenly and deeply, her brows and eyes relaxed. He finally let go of his anxiety.

Chen Hao dared not move an inch, for fear that the slightest movement would wake her.

He carefully reached out and pulled a thin blanket from the side of the sofa, gently covering Lin Caiwei's body, including her shoulders and legs, to keep her warm.

After doing all this, he leaned back in his sofa chair and looked out at the quiet night.

Silently, I wondered: Will that persistent and stubborn old man come again tomorrow?
