Alien invasion? Luckily, I'm Superman.

Chapter 106 Entering the Cosmic Furnace

"Where are we?" Superman asked in the thick darkness, the S logo on his chest emitting a faint warm light.

"We should be in the dreamland of Sandman Daniel," Su Mo replied, his gaze sweeping over the slowly flowing gray mist around him.

"That's right, this is the Land of Dreams, my domain." The voice of Sandman Daniel came from the void.

His figure slowly materialized in front of the three people, wearing a white robe and with hair like melting white clouds.

The surrounding scenery changed instantly. The gray fog dissipated, and in its place stood a magnificent library with towering bookshelves reaching the dome, and countless books shimmering with different colored lights on their spines.

Superman and Batman recognized the figures before them. Batman clenched his fist tightly, his knuckles cracking, his voice filled with suppressed rage: "It's you! Do you know how long I was trapped there? So much happened, and you just stood by and did nothing!"

He raised his fist, took a step forward, and wanted to give him a good beating.

"If you didn't care, why did you tell me about Barbatos in the first place? You got me trapped here!" Batman's voice echoed in the library.

"Hehe~, sorry, sorry." Sandman waved his hand, flicked his finger, and an invisible force pushed Superman and Batman away from a distance.

Numerous dream books fell from the shelves, enveloping them like living things. The ancient pages rustled around them. "This is not my fault; it's the Batman Who Laughs's conspiracy."

Su Mo stood to the side, rubbing her forehead: "Daniel, I've discovered you're even more interesting than I imagined."

"So, do you expect me to keep a straight face? That's so boring." Daniel chuckled, casually tracing the shape of the first Sandman with his finger. "I'm not some innate embodiment of the first Sandman. Being the Sandman is more boring than I imagined, so I don't need to keep a straight face."

Meanwhile, Superman and Batman, pushed aside by Sandman, found themselves deeper into the dream.

A pale, thin man with pointed ears emerged from behind the bookshelf. He wore oversized, round-framed glasses and had sparse, messy hair.

He is Lucien, the steward of the Sandman, a creation of the dream realm, whose existence depends on the dream itself.

His voice was soft and gentle, like a whisper in a dream: "This is the realm of dreams, and every book here is a dream, some beautiful, some nightmares. But nightmares are not usually told, and Barbatos is gradually turning them into reality."

"This place feels so familiar, yet so strange," Superman murmured, his fingers gently brushing against the spine of a glowing book. The moment his fingertips touched it, the pages automatically turned a few, revealing a blurry image.

"That's because you've visited this place many times before," Lucien said, adjusting his glasses and smiling. "Every night, when you fall asleep, you enter the world of dreams. This is the land of dreams, this is our home."

He pointed into the distance, where smoke was rising at the far end of the library, and some books on the shelves were spontaneously combusting, the flames black and silently devouring the pages.

"As mentioned before, Barbatos shattered the beautiful dream and turned the nightmare into reality. Now, this library has begun to burn. If this continues, the Dream Kingdom and all the stories within it will be devoured. When all the beautiful dreams come to an end, that will be the time of the world's destruction."

Su Mo and Daniel emerged from between the bookshelves on the other side, with Daniel standing in front of Superman and Batman.

Batman stared at him, his voice slightly urgent: "Since it's so dangerous, join us and help us defeat Barbatos."

Daniel shook his head, his tone gentle: "No, I can't. I am the embodiment of a concept; I cannot participate. Right now, I am only helping you as a human. Joining the battle is not allowed; the Endless Family will not permit me to do so."

Su Mo nodded and continued, "That's right, but Daniel can still help."

Daniel raised his hand and drew an arc in the air, golden light flowing from his fingertips. Daniel gently blew a breath, and the Sands of Time, a product of the dream, flew out and drifted towards the three of them.

"I will now send you to the World Forge to retrieve the Genesis Metal, which will help you defeat the darkness." He waved his hand, and yellowish-white dust formed a vortex.

The figures of Superman and Batman were blurred in the sandstorm.

After the light faded, Daniel stood alone in the empty library, the surrounding bookshelves still burning, black flames silently licking at the spines. He sighed, his voice tinged with helplessness: "Ah, these are turbulent times. And Barbatos isn't even the end of the story; we might have to deal with him again later."

On the other side, Su Mo, Superman, and Batman traversed a pure golden space.

Light swirled rapidly around them, like countless golden rivers intertwining. Their bodies were propelled forward by an invisible force, passing through layer after layer of dimensional membranes, and finally being expelled into a dark red void.

The melting pot of the world.

It resembles a giant, hollowed-out sun, suspended in the void, its surface covered with dark red cracks, through which molten lava flows slowly.

The flames of the furnace were no longer golden, but a murky darkness.

"No, the furnace has fallen into darkness, we have no chance!" Superman's voice was filled with despair as he looked at the surface of the furnace beneath his feet, which was being corroded by darkness.

"Superman, don't give up." Su Mo's calm voice dispelled the gloom in Superman's mind. "We'll go into the furnace. Whether the furnace is plunged into darkness or not is not important. What's important is the X metal inside."

Superman looked up sharply, took a deep breath, nodded, and the three of them flew into the surface of the furnace. A wave of scalding heat hit them, distorting the air.

On the edge of the furnace, a huge figure was moving slowly.

The Dragon of Barbatos – Hawkman Carter.

His body swelled several times its original size, his skin was covered with dark gold scales, a pair of tattered dragon wings spread out from his back, and dark red flames burned in his eye sockets.

He swung the massive metal hammer in his hand, the hammerhead dragging a heavy whistling sound as it swept across the surface of the furnace, each strike creating a deep crater in the ground.

Su Mo and the other two quickly dodged and weaved through the fragments of the shattered world created by the furnace.

The fragments are pieces of broken land floating on the surface of the furnace, each piece holding a fragmented memory, including Batman's eternal nightmare: Crime Alley, and the scene of Superman's adoptive father's death.

"Long live Barbatos!" The eagle-man swung his enormous metal hammer, the hammerhead brushing past Su Mo's head, the resulting wind pressure sending surrounding rocks flying.

Su Mo crouched down and punched the eagle man in the ankle with her backhand, using the force to trip him up.

The eagle-man's massive body crashed to the ground, smashing half of the furnace wall, sending debris flying everywhere.

Su Mo did not linger. The current Eagle Man's strength has reached the multiverse level. It's just that he's not in a rational state. Otherwise, Su Mo would not be able to contend with him at all.

"Jump!" Su Mo shouted, grabbing Batman and Superman's arms with both hands, and leaped towards a deep crack in the furnace wall.

Deep within the rift, a blue light flickered, like a lighthouse in the night—X Metal's call to them.

The three fell into the crevice, and the extremely hot liquid from the furnace surged in from all directions, engulfing them.

Su Mo could feel his body melting. Pudding was frantically repairing him inside, the power of the dark dimension was surging within him, and dark purple energy was flowing on his skin, keeping the high temperature out.

The repair speed barely kept up with the melting speed.

Batman had already passed out. Superman, holding Batman with one hand, swam towards the blue light with all his might.

His skin was melting, revealing the bright red muscle beneath, but he gritted his teeth and remained silent.

Su Mo immediately quickened his pace, his body cutting a dark purple trail through the lava, and entered the core of the furnace before Superman could.

Suddenly, a bright and clear view appeared. A pool of silvery-white liquid flowed in the center of the space, radiating a soft yet cold metallic luster. The surface of the liquid moved slowly, as if it were breathing.

X Metal, Genesis Metal.

Su Mo stood in front of the silvery-white metal, stretched out her hand, and touched the surface of the liquid with her fingertips. The icy sensation spread from her fingertips to her entire palm.
