Alien invasion? Luckily, I'm Superman.

Chapter 48 Battle Against the Space Carrier

The Quinjet's hatch was wide open, letting in the cold air from high altitude, causing everyone's clothes to flutter loudly. Su Mo stood at the stern, looking down at the three enormous ships below.

The space carrier moved slowly beneath the clouds, its surface lights flashing. Its sharp, flowing lines exuded industrial beauty and a sci-fi aesthetic. Compared to the drastically different alien warships in his own universe, the space carrier developed by humanity was far more in line with his aesthetic.

"Alright, everyone, you can all go down now." Su Mo withdrew his gaze, glanced at everyone in the cabin, and said, "Go and make the Hydra into snake soup."

Su Mo made a simple joke, which eased the tense atmosphere a little.

Everyone nodded and jumped down.

Tony's Mark mech thrusters were at full power, and blue flames left several bright trails in the night sky. He deliberately passed through the densest anti-aircraft fire, and the pulse cannons fired from both sides, attracting the attention of a large number of guns.

Taking advantage of the gap Tony was creating, Steve and Natasha, equipped with the same Falcon-style aircraft, swooped down from the side, skimmed along the outer wall of the Helicopter's bridge, and rolled to their feet, their movements clean and efficient.

The moment Wanda leaped from the hatch, a red force field exploded around her. Anti-aircraft shells and air-to-air missiles detonated on the surface of the force field, keeping the flames and debris at bay. With a telekinetic flick, she sent several unexploded missiles flying back along their original paths, exploding into fireballs on Hydra's launch site.

Su Mo was at the very back of the group. He didn't rush in, but hovered high in the air, his gaze sweeping over every firing point of the three motherships. S.H.I.E.L.D., officially the Strategic Homeland Defense, Attack and Logistics Agency, had been secretly gathering information on superheroes for years. Tony's armor weaknesses, Steve's fighting habits, Natasha… There might actually be targeted weapons. They couldn't afford to be careless.

The Hydra aboard the space carrier spotted the Quinjet overhead. At the command of the commander on the bridge, multiple triple-mounted heavy naval guns opened fire simultaneously, their muzzle flashes creating a continuous blur in the night sky. Clint yanked the control stick, sending the Quinjet tumbling through the air, cannonballs whizzing past its fuselage and exploding into bursts of orange sparks in the night.

On the mothership's deck, armed Quinjet fighters and F-35B vertical takeoff and landing fighters took off urgently, their engines roaring deafeningly as they rushed toward the landing Avengers.

Immediately afterwards, Su Mo made a move.

He moved so fast that he left only a black afterimage in the night sky. Heat rays shot from his eyes, two red-gold beams tracing arcs across the night sky, precisely sweeping over the fighter jets that had just taken off.

The first plane was cut in half, its two halves falling in flames; the second plane's wings were severed, and it spun as it crashed to the ground; the third plane was swept through the cockpit by a beam of light, and the pilot lost his life without even a chance to eject.

Su Mo's body swerved repeatedly in the air, his steel frame colliding directly with a string of anti-aircraft shells. The explosions erupted in front of him, but he emerged unscathed from the flames. An anti-ship missile was launched from a silo in the ship's hull, trailing a white contrail as it flew towards him. Su Mo dodged to the side; the missile grazed his chest and exploded behind him.

He charged through the barrage of close-in weapon system fire to the deck of the tallest aerospace carrier. The ship's guns were still spinning wildly, their muzzles still firing.

The moment Su Mo landed, he swung his right fist, smashing it into the cannon barrel with a grating, metallic clang. The entire cannon was sent flying from its base. He then turned and continued his assault, punching left and right, each blow destroying a cannon. Within seconds, most of the deck's firing net was cleared, providing a safe space for his teammates to land.

After destroying all the ship's cannons that were firing shells, Su Mo took to the air, flying hundreds of meters into the sky before swooping down. His body, like a bullet, pierced through the deck of the space carrier, through the hangar, through the bottom armor, and emerged from the ship's hull.

The entire mothership shuddered violently, like a giant beast whose heart had been pierced. The Hydra agents on the bridge staggered about, staring in panic at the black figure on the monitor screen.

But it's not over yet.

Su Mo flipped in mid-air and charged upwards again. This time, he entered from the stern and exited from the bow. The third time, he entered from the left and exited from the right. Within seconds, he had pierced a dense network of holes in the mothership, triggering a series of explosions. The mothership's turbine engines emitted a piercing screeching sound, their blades rubbing against the shattered casings, sparks shooting out from the gaps, the speed decreasing more and more until it finally stopped completely. Thick black smoke billowed from the exhaust vents in the engine room. The remaining anti-gravity engines, unable to withstand the strain, emitted a low, mournful groan, and the fuselage began to tilt.

The space carrier tilted and slowly fell diagonally downwards, like a wounded whale sinking into the deep sea.

Su Mo hovered in the air, watching this scene, and felt that this mission was somewhat simple. In fact, he could have solved all the problems by himself. But he didn't. He felt that he needed to cultivate a relationship with his teammates; a team couldn't be composed of only one person, and a force couldn't rely on just one powerful fighter. If he did everything himself, when would he have time to become stronger?

Meanwhile, in the sky, Steve and Natasha descended. The Falcon-like aircraft carried them as it swooped down onto the deck of the lowest helicarrier. Steve rolled to absorb the impact upon landing, his shield sliding from his back to his hand, which he then swung out, striking down a Hydra agent who charged at him. The shield bounced back and struck down another. Natasha drew her guns and fired simultaneously, each shot hitting a vital point with pinpoint accuracy.

Steve plunged into the enemy ranks with clean, swift movements. Jab controlled distance, straight punches broke defenses, hooks struck laterally, and uppercuts broke defenses at close range. His footwork was agile and varied, making him move like a fish in water amidst the enemy encirclement. He dodged a thrusting dagger, parried a swinging gun butt with his shield, and delivered a punch to the opponent's chin. He kicked away an oncoming agent, swept an enemy charging from the side, slammed an elbow into the back of the head of a close-range opponent, and delivered a knee strike…

Captain America cleared the resistance on the deck in a matter of seconds. He stormed into the Helicarrier, with Natasha following behind. The two used the decryption program copied from Dr. Banner and Jarvis's computing power to crack the access control system. Each door opened within seconds, and they continued downwards toward the server room.

Above the central Helicarrier, Wanda and Tony were working together. Wanda's force field acted like a red, transparent shield, deflecting the close-in weapon system (CIWS) shells aimed at them. Simultaneously, her telekinesis grabbed two Quinjet fighters that had taken off, forcefully shoving them together. The two fighters collided and exploded into a fireball.

During the battle, she remembered what Su Mo had told her on the way here—"The essence of your superpower is chaos magic, not something given to you by the Mind Stone. You should try to develop it, using your imagination."

She closed her eyes and tried to imagine. She imagined a membrane, a soft, transparent but impenetrable membrane, enveloping the entire mothership.

A moment later, Wanda opened her eyes.

A thin film did indeed begin to form around the space carrier. It was red and translucent, like a bubble floating in the air.

A missile launched from the mothership's bridge struck a membrane. The warhead detonated upon contact, but the flames of the explosion were contained within the membrane.

Wanda looked at her hands, her pupils dilating slightly.

Meanwhile, under Wanda's cover, Tony piloted his Mark armor squadron. A dozen suits, controlled by Jarvis, formed a battle formation, unleashing a barrage of pulse cannon fire that shot down Hydra fighters one by one. Tony didn't need to charge into the enemy ranks or risk being shot down; he only needed to command from the air.

The fate of the three space carriers was decided in minutes.

The topmost ship was riddled with holes by Su Mo, its engines destroyed, and it slowly plummeted to the ground; the middle ship was enveloped by Wanda's membrane, and Hydra agents frantically pounded on the control panel in the bridge, discovering that all weapon systems were being interfered with by the red energy and unable to fire; the bottommost ship's server room door was smashed open by Steve's shield, and Natasha inserted Banner's data disk into the interface, lines of code scrolling rapidly on the screen, Hydra's control being continuously overtaken.

It's clear that Hydra's defeat is inevitable. Alexander's plan was doomed from the start, regardless of Su Mo's involvement. Project Insight cannot allow Hydra to rule the Earth. Whether it's Wakanda or S.H.I.E.L.D., they can all thwart Hydra's ambitions. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s true strength lies in its global network of agents and intelligence. Nick Fury's protection of Earth rests on the Flerken and Captain Marvel.
