Alien invasion? Luckily, I'm Superman.

Chapter 7 Capture the Frigate

Standing on the bridge of the frigate, Su Mo's super vision penetrated the ship's walls, allowing him to see what was happening outside.

"Damn it, the hostages are useless." Su Mo couldn't help but feel the ruthlessness of the alien invaders. He had originally thought that capturing a warship and controlling the crew would at least make the other side hesitate to act.

Now it seemed he had been incredibly naive. To these aliens, a frigate and its dozens of crew members were nothing more than pawns to be discarded at any time. He cursed under his breath and turned to glance at the frozen soldiers.

Although they were frozen in ice, their consciousness remained, as could be seen from their eyes. Those vertical pupils reflected the flashing red alarm lights on the control panel, and also the expression on Su Mo's face.

Through Su Mo's movements and information from the ship's external sensors, they learned of their commander's choice: their fleet commander had abandoned them without hesitation. Terrified expressions appeared on those gray faces, so unlike any other humans.

Su Mo didn't glance at them again. He quickly went to the control panel, placed his hands on the surface, and looked down at the unfamiliar symbols and interface. The control panel was a curved panel covered with glowing touch areas and holographic projections. All the text and icons were in an alien language, with a complex structure and logic completely different from human operating systems.

But Su Mo possessed super intelligence and a Kryptonian spaceship. With the help of the Kryptonian spaceship's artificial intelligence, his brain began to work the moment it came into contact with this information, and within seconds, he understood the basic operating logic of the control panel.

He needs to get the frigate to a safe place.

Where should it be sent?

Moon.

Su Mo's fingers slid rapidly across the holographic projection, bringing up the navigation system. His brain was processing the information at lightning speed, while he used his super vision to confirm the moon's position and current orbit. He then set the spaceship's path to the far side of the moon, a region far removed from any alien fleet.

The capture of this frigate was due to the enemy's lack of intelligence and arrogance; there won't be another chance like this. Su Mo was confident that humanity would not perish.

As Su Mo operated the device, this thought quickly flashed through his mind.

Even if the aliens had intelligence, they clearly didn't anticipate the emergence of an individual on Earth capable of single-handedly venturing into space and capturing a warship. They were unprepared, their intelligence was flawed, and their tactics had blind spots, which gave him this opportunity.

But there won't be another chance. Next time, they'll be prepared, with specific countermeasures. Perhaps it will be a self-destruction, or something else entirely. The opportunity to capture a frigate may only come once. Therefore, this frigate must be preserved. This will greatly help humanity in future technological breakthroughs.

The difference between a complete spaceship and wreckage is enormous. A single, intact alien frigate is more valuable than ten mangled pieces. Human scientists can likely learn more from it than from all the debris they've collected from the battlefield combined.

Su Mo confirmed the navigation settings and pressed the execute button. He then straightened up and took one last look at the frozen soldiers. Finally, he turned and strode out of the bridge, running along the passageway towards the aircraft carrier's access route.

The passageway was filled with smoke and red alarm lights. His footsteps thudded on the metal floor, each step firm and steady. His super vision penetrated the ship's walls, confirming the location and status of the aircraft carrier's passageway.

Su Mo accelerated, turned left at the end of the passage, and pushed open an emergency isolation door. The space behind the door was a long and narrow passage, at the end of which was an airtight door that opened outwards, the exit used for catapult launches of carrier-based aircraft.

He rushed to the airtight door, pressed his hands against the crack, and pushed it open forcefully to both sides. The metal twisted and deformed under his force, emitting a piercing creak, and the door was pried open with a gap large enough for him to pass through.

Su Mo slipped out and entered space. The escort ship behind him, guided by autopilot, began to turn, its engines emitting blue plumes of exhaust, slowly changing course and heading towards the moon.

Su Mo hovered in space, watching the frigate gradually disappear into the distance, then turned his head.

Look towards the sun.

The star shone brightly in the vacuum of space, its enormous fireball occupying nearly a quarter of the field of vision. Its surface was churning with torrents of plasma, and its prominences stretched out from the surface like giant tentacles, each dozens of times the size of Earth.

He had already devised a way to destroy the fleet.

sun.

His power comes from the sun. Yellow sunlight is the source of his abilities, a fact clearly stated in the Superman comics. Kryptonians gain Superman's powers under the radiation of a yellow sun, but lose all their powers under a red sun.

His current strength is insufficient. He would be injured even by attacks from a frigate, and utterly helpless against the main guns of a battleship. But if he could get closer to the sun, or even enter it, if he could absorb more solar radiation, then…

Su Mo began to accelerate. He sped towards the sun, his body tracing a straight path in the vacuum. Behind him, the Earth rapidly shrank in his field of vision, transforming from a giant blue sphere into a fist-sized disk, and then into a bright spot.

Behind him, the remaining escort ships and battleships quickly spotted him. The commander had clearly issued a new order, and all the guns that had been aimed at the captured escort ship turned towards Su Mo.

The fleet ceased its attack on the escort ship heading to the moon, deciding to recover it after the battle. They all pursued Su Mo, who was constantly "fleeing."

Su Mo kept looking back during the flight, using his super vision to observe the movements of the fleet behind him.

The escort ships were at the forefront, moving the fastest, like a group of sharks relentlessly chasing his tail. Their cannons continuously spewed particle beams and lasers, drawing bright streaks of light in the vacuum, but the distance was too great, and most of the attacks missed their mark.

Battleships were further aft and slightly slower, but their weapons had a longer range and greater power.

Su Mo noticed that one of the battleships was slowly opening its side armor plates. Beneath the armor plates was a huge launch port, the internal structure of which was larger than any weapon he had ever seen before.

That was a main gun.

A significantly more advanced and larger large laser emitter.

Blue light was gathering inside the cannon's muzzle, and the energy reading was rapidly increasing. Su Mo's super vision penetrated the outer shell of the cannon and saw what was happening inside.

Energy is extracted from the warship's core reactor, amplified and focused by a series of devices, and then concentrated into a terrifying beam of light capable of destroying an asteroid.

The muzzle of the cannon lit up with a red light.

A sudden chill ran down Su Mo's back. It was his body's instinctive warning, its last gasp in the face of a deadly threat. His skin tingled, his hair stood on end, and every nerve screamed the same message—

Get out of the way!

Su Mo's body suddenly spun to the side in the vacuum.

A streak of blue-purple light grazed past him. The light was wider than his body, blue-purple in color, with white arcs of electricity along its edges. It moved silently through the vacuum, and the space around it seemed to distort slightly.

The light didn't hit Su Mo directly, but it grazed his back.

It was just a wipe.

Su Mo felt a sharp, burning pain in her back.

He looked down at his back. A burn scar.
