HP: Wizards at Hogwarts
Chapter 61 Arrived Too Early
Everyone present was shocked by Elaine's arrogant tone.
However, they felt that while Elaine might be a bit arrogant, his statement might not be entirely untrue.
"These days, the professors have been trying to melt the ice on the Black Lake, and they have obviously noticed the anomalies in the ice."
Hermione recounted her recent experiences in Ravenclaw, adding, "However, they haven't succeeded yet!"
"This ice is ridiculously hard; even a 'shattering spell' can only make a sound when it hits it."
"What's even stranger is that it's not afraid of high temperatures. It's said that Professor Flitwick burned it with a fire spell for an entire afternoon, but he couldn't melt a single drop of water from it."
"Also, the magical creatures at the bottom of the Black Lake seem to be causing quite a stir because of this, scaring the Slytherins every day through the windows—you know, there's a window in their common room that overlooks the Black Lake."
Upon hearing this, Ron and Neville looked at Elaine with even more admiration.
They never expected that even a Hogwarts professor couldn't handle Elaine's ice.
Harry added, "When I went to see Hagrid the day before yesterday, he told me that it was because of those strange ice things that Dumbledore was able to save him from the Board of Governors."
"Anything else?"
"I had absolutely no idea..."
Elaine looked regretful, as if he had missed out on a lot of side quests in the game.
"Now you know, right?"
Hermione looked at Ron and Harry: "Even the professors can't break through this ice, which means that what's hidden underneath now has an extra layer of protection!"
"We don't need to worry about its safety at all!"
Ron and Harry nodded in unison.
"I completely understand!"
"That means only Elaine can take us down to see that thing now!"
The two exchanged a smile, then simultaneously made a "please" gesture to Elivin, saying in unison, "Please, Elivin! Take us downstairs to take a look!!"
Hermione: "..."
You guys don't understand anything!
Elaine extended his right hand, grinning and giving an "OK" sign: "Absolutely no problem!"
"But let me make this clear first, you can only look!"
"That thing is mine!"
hiss~
Several people at the scene gasped simultaneously.
They initially thought that it was already quite bold of them that Elaine was willing to take them to see that thing.
Unexpectedly, he was even bolder than that!
He actually wanted to take that thing for himself?!
"This...this...isn't this a bit inappropriate..."
Harry immediately felt a little guilty. "I mean, that looks like Professor Dumbledore's stuff. It's fine to look at it to satisfy our curiosity, but to just steal it... besides, this will definitely be discovered in the end!"
Hermione agreed, "Harry is right. Anyone who isn't an idiot can easily find out who was out in the castle tonight. Plus, the ice here is the same type as the ice that froze the Black Lake. It's only a matter of time before we become the suspects for the theft."
Elaine gave her a strange look: "I wasn't planning to hide it anyway, so if they find out, they find out."
Ah? ?
Hermione froze on the spot.
Ignoring her, Elaine walked straight to the trapdoor, squatted down, and gently touched the ice with his right hand. The ice covering the trapdoor immediately vanished.
As for the rest of the corridor, and the three-headed dog, they remained frozen.
Opening the trapdoor, it was pitch black inside.
Elaine turned around and joked, "Anyone want to go in and scout it out?"
They all shook their heads.
Elaine had no choice but to draw his wand and cast a glowing spell into the cave.
The white orb of light slowly descended, splitting into small clusters that remained suspended in the air every meter, while the rest continued to move downwards.
Soon, the entire cave was illuminated clearly.
"You call that the Glowing Charm?!" Harry, Ron, and Neville screamed simultaneously.
This is completely different from what they learn in class!
Elaine said, "I modified it myself."
Hermione rolled her eyes, speechless. "Have you all forgotten? Professor Flitwick mentioned it in our class! He said that Elaine cast a very impressive glow-in-the-dark spell in the first class, and he even gave Hufflepuff an extra 20 points for it."
In the first year, Hufflepuff and Slytherin took Charms class together, while Gryffindor naturally took it with Ravenclaw.
"So, want to learn?"
The people behind him nodded frantically.
Elaine smiled with satisfaction: "Join my 'Study Club' in a couple of days, and I'll teach you!"
"What study group?"
"This is an agreement I made with the professors; you'll find out when the time comes!"
Elaine jumped down into the cave, and the others followed closely behind.
The cave wasn't deep, and the group landed quickly—or rather, unremarkable.
"That's strange..."
"What's strange?"
Elivin looked around, increasingly surprised: "There's absolutely nothing here?!"
Something's not right!
According to the original story, shouldn't there be challenges set up by the professors here?!
Could it be that……
Has Dumbledore not started making arrangements yet?!
Yes, that must be it!
When Harry and his friends entered this place in the original story, it was already the end of the school year, and the challenges inside were clearly designed by Dumbledore and a group of professors to test the trio's strength and character.
For example, the key-finding challenge was specially arranged because Harry showed his talent for Quidditch; the wizard chess challenge was also specially arranged for Ron.
But the semester has just begun, and not even the first week has passed!
Harry's exceptional talent for riding broomsticks is only today, and Ron hasn't even played a single game of wizard chess since entering Hogwarts.
How could Dumbledore have set up a trap at this time?!
Since the traps haven't been set up yet, the magic stone probably hasn't been placed in either.
I'm too early!
Elivin's face immediately darkened: "You old geezer, you made me wait for nothing!"
Harry and the others were completely bewildered when they heard Elaine's curses.
"What's wrong, Elaine?"
"It's nothing, it's just that we might be disappointed tonight."
"What do you mean?" Harry asked.
Harry soon found out what Elaine meant.
The group proceeded along the passage without any obstruction.
Even after entering the innermost room, nothing happened, and nothing was discovered.
"There's nothing here?" Harry seemed somewhat incredulous.
"It seems you guessed wrong; that thing wasn't hidden here."
Hermione looked somewhat disappointed, but also relieved: "Clearly, Dumbledore is much smarter than we thought. He put a big dog up there to guard it, just to create a diversion. He hid the real treasure somewhere else."
"Now, can we go back to sleep?"
