HP: Wizards at Hogwarts

Chapter 65 Guardian Spell

Elaine spent the entire Saturday morning learning spells from Flitwick.

He was exceptionally talented; he could master any spell after just two or three tries. His rapid progress astonished even Flitwick, who exclaimed, "Merlin is here!"

Although all three magic classes at Hogwarts teach magic, they each have their own focus.

Charms class teaches magic for everyday use; Defense Against the Dark Arts class teaches magic for combat; and Transfiguration is somewhere in between, with excellent support capabilities.

So after learning a few advanced spells, Elaine started having other ideas.

"Professor Flitwick, could you teach me Defense Against the Dark Arts?"

In a slightly complaining tone, like a good student eager to improve, Elaine confided his troubles to Professor Flitwick.

"You may not know this, but Professor Quirrell, who is now teaching us Defense Against the Dark Arts, just reads from the textbook during class and hardly teaches any spells, which seriously slows down the teaching progress."

"I'm worried that if this continues, our first-year students might not learn anything useful throughout the entire school year."

Immediately afterwards, Elaine brought out a set of classic Chinese teaching theories.

"The first year is crucial for young wizards because it's the time when we build our foundation."

"If we don't lay a solid foundation now, it will be extremely difficult and inefficient to learn higher-level Defense Against the Dark Arts in the future."

After hearing Eleven's words, Flitwick frowned immediately.

You mean Quirrell?!

"That shouldn't be the case. He was one of the top students in Ravenclaw back in the day."

Elaine continued, "I believe Professor Quirrell is an excellent wizard, otherwise Headmaster Dumbledore wouldn't have asked him to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. It's just that he might not be good at teaching."

Flitwick nodded silently: "...That's probably it."

"In that case, in order not to delay your studies, I will teach you Defense Against the Dark Arts for now."

"Although I teach Charms, I have complete confidence in Defense Against the Dark Arts!"

Although Flitwick is a professor of Charms, that doesn't mean his combat magic and Transfiguration are bad.

In fact, these four heads of Hogwarts should be considered among the most powerful wizards in the wizarding world, second only to Dumbledore.

"but……"

"Just like with ordinary spells, I imagine you've also taught yourself some Defense Against the Dark Arts. Could you tell me how far you've progressed?"

Flitwick knew that Elaine was a genius, and even if Quirrell hadn't taught Defense Against the Dark Arts in class, he must have taught himself something, so he wanted to test him out before teaching him.

Elivin didn't mince words, stating directly, "I have already mastered the basic black magic defense spells: Disarming Charm, Stunning Charm, Petrifying Charm, Split Charm, Forgetting Charm, Ironclad Charm, and Termination Charm."

He would perform each action on the mannequins in the classroom as he spoke.

Flitwick stood quietly to the side, watching Eleven's demonstration, nodding his head incessantly.

After the demonstration, Elaine turned to Flitwick and said, "Next, I want to learn some more advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts. My first two goals are the Patronus Charm and the Mind Defense Charm."

Both of these spells are the highest-level defenses against black magic!

Flitwick finally came to his senses, and his gaze toward Elaine held a strange quality.

"The Patronus Charm and the Brain Defense Charm are taught in the sixth or seventh grade, and many young wizards never learn them until graduation, or even throughout their lives."

Why did you suddenly want to learn this?

Elaine explained, "I've heard that some dark creatures require a 'Patron Saint Charm' to dispel; and some dark wizards can use 'Leech from Mind' to read other people's thoughts and memories, which requires a 'Brain Defense' spell to block such access."

"Professor, can you teach me?"

Looking into Elaine's sincere eyes, Flitwick ultimately couldn't bring himself to refuse.

"...Alright then."

"To be honest, these two spells aren't my strong suit, but teaching them to you shouldn't be a problem."

Elaine was overjoyed: "Thank you so much, Professor!!"

This time it was the 'Guardian Angel Charm' and 'Brain Defense', so next time it will be the 'Fiercefire Charm' and 'Leeding Souls'!

Once the 'Fiery Inferno' and 'Leech from Mind' are taught, will the Unforgivable Curse be far behind?

Flitwick chuckled and said, "You're welcome, you're welcome. Your ability to learn magic is more important than anything else!"

"Let's begin now. How about we start by learning the 'Guardian Spirit Spell'?"

"no problem!"

The principle behind the Guardian Charm is to recall a moment of 'happiness' and then condense that 'happiness' into the shape of a certain animal.

This animal, formed from magic, is the wizard's 'guardian spirit'.

As long as a guardian deity is present, dark creatures cannot approach.

Elaine believed this was due to the "attribute advantage" of magic.

In the concept of magic, the power of light can always restrain and dispel the power of darkness.

Are you happy?

"I've had many happy moments, but I don't know if they can be called happiness..."

Elaine closed his eyes, calmed his mind, and began to recall his short life.

Happiness, happiness...

When I was in the orphanage, the old director treated me fairly well, and I got along well with the other children, but was that happiness?

That was just normal life; it was cozy, but not exactly happy.

Is it happiness when you activate your system, realize that you have the potential to change your destiny, become a superior person, or even rule the world?

It seems that most of the feelings were anticipation and excitement.

Is it happiness to be busy with the grand cause of "breaking down prejudice and discrimination" and "merging wizards and Muggles"?

Elaine knew that it was purely his own amusement mentality at play; he was just bored and wanted to do something big, and it certainly didn't count as happiness!

If we're really talking about happiness, then probably...

It's time to use magic again and again, and watch yourself create 'miracles' with your own hands.

At that moment, he was truly immersed in using this wondrous power.

That's it, that's the feeling!

Elaine opened his eyes abruptly and raised his wand high.

A surge of magical power flowed from within him to the wand, condensing into a dazzling white light at the tip.

"Gasoline prices are so expensive!!"

Professor Flitwick: "??"

"Ah... wrong, let's try again!"

"Expecto Patronum!!"

With a shout, white light transformed into a torrent that surged into the air and quickly filled the entire classroom.

The next moment, the torrent visibly contracted and solidified.

Under Elaine's expectant gaze, a delicate, small, and beautiful creature gradually took shape—

Fairy! !
