Chapter 85 Sprout: He is the future of herbalism
With Sprout's help, Elaine officially began his experiments on plant magic.
The two set aside a separate area in the vegetable garden outside the greenhouse to plant seeds of various magical plants, then used plant magic to accelerate their ripening, and studied the finished products.
half a month later.
The two compiled their findings into a complete report and took it to Dumbledore's office.
"Professor Dumbledore, you must take a look at this."
"Eleven, the most outstanding wizard in our Hufflepuff School, has invented a spell worthy of being recorded in history!"
"After these two weeks of testing, I believe it will propel herbalism to unprecedented heights in the near future, even impacting the potion economy of the magical world!!"
When Sprout handed over the report, a smile he couldn't suppress was still on his lips.
Good guy!
Another professor has been captured by Elaine?!
Dumbledore sat behind his desk, staring at the two figures, one large and one small, his eyelids twitching.
"Calm down, Sprout."
"Eleven, what surprise are you planning to give me this time?"
"You invented a magic trick?"
As he spoke, he looked at Elaine, his admiration masking a hint of scrutiny.
"Yes, Professor Dumbledore!"
Please look carefully!
Elaine stepped forward, extending his left hand, palm up, revealing a seed. He pointed with his wand in his right hand: "Grow quickly!"
Plant magic, activate!
The next moment, the tender shoot broke through the wall and grew rapidly.
In the blink of an eye, the seed grew into a small tree with thick roots and lush foliage, without soil, water, or sunlight.
Dumbledore's eyes widened slightly, and with an "Oh!" he stood up from his seat.
"I named it 'Plant Growth Magic'."
Elaine explained, "It enables plants to achieve permanent growth in a very short time."
He glanced at Professor Sprout as he spoke.
Sprout nodded to Elaine, signaling him to continue.
"In the past two weeks, Professor Sprout and I have accelerated the growth of more than 800 magical herbs with different properties."
"Experimental data shows that this magic is effective not only on ordinary plants, but also on those magical herbs."
"It can ignore the growth environment and conditions that plants need, such as sunlight, temperature, water, soil, fertilizer, and carbon dioxide, allowing herbs to directly absorb my magic and grow rapidly!"
To prove his point, Elaine picked up the report he had brought.
The report was written on A4 paper, the standard paper for Muggles, with each sheet filled with dense text and data.
"The rate of growth is positively correlated with the quality and total amount of magic absorbed by the plant."
"The upper limit of their growth has not yet been determined. As long as I keep inputting magic, these plants can keep growing, even beyond their own genetic limitations."
"I can also control the growth process. Through this magic, I can make the content of various elements in those magical herbs reach a level beyond saturation."
"Simply put, you could consider them even more perfect than the herbs Professor Sprout cultivated by hand in his greenhouse!"
"We tried using artificially ripened herbs to concoct magical potions, and we found that the potions were at least 30% more effective than commercially available magical potions."
With each additional word Elaine uttered, Dumbledore's astonishment deepened.
He didn't quite understand what "genetic limitations" or "elemental content" meant, but he did understand what it meant to be "more perfect than the herbs Sprout cultivated by his own hands."
"Sprout—??"
"What Elaine said is true."
Professor Sprout smiled and nodded: "I participated in the entire experiment, and I can attest that what he said is true."
"If you don't believe me, you can have Snape come and examine these potions."
As she spoke, she took out a potion box from her handbag, placed it on the table, and opened it. Inside, dozens of bottles of magic potions were neatly arranged.
Dumbledore paused for a moment, then said to Fawkes in the brazier beside him, "Go and fetch Severus immediately."
Fox flapped its wings and with a "bang," it turned into flames and disappeared.
A dozen minutes later, Snape pushed open the door to the headmaster's office and strode in.
"What do you want, Dumbledore? Don't you know I'm in class right now—"
"Hmm? Professor Sprout is here too? And—Mr. Yakut?"
Snape's voice stopped abruptly, clearly not expecting there to be other people in the office.
Dumbledore beckoned to Snape: "Severus, I'd like you to examine these potions from a professional perspective."
Snape glanced at the potion box, then gave Professor Sprout a strange look, and finally looked at Elaine.
Elaine could probably guess why he had that look in his eyes.
Just as Hagrid was in charge of livestock and guarding the Forbidden Forest, and Sprout was in charge of cultivating herbs and farming, Snape was the one at Hogwarts who was dedicated to brewing potions.
Even though Sprout was the first person to come into contact with magical herbs, he wouldn't use them directly to make magical potions; instead, he would leave it to Snape, a professional, to do.
However, the medicine box in front of us is clearly Sprout's.
Why did Professor Sprout bring a bunch of magical potions to Dumbledore's office and ask him to appraise them?
Snape figured out the answer almost instantly.
The person who prepared these potions was not Professor Sprout, but Elaine!
Snape didn't say much. He walked to the potion box, took out a bottle of magic potion, opened it, and took a gentle sniff.
"The only redeeming quality of this crudely brewed 'life-and-death water' is that it seems to be quite effective."
He put down the Water of Life and Death, opened the second bottle of medicine, and smelled it again.
For a moment, Snape frowned slightly, as if to verify something. He sniffed the potion carefully, and after a few seconds, he put it down and said, "The shrinking potion's brewing method is also disappointing, but—the effect is better than those on the market."
Then he opened the third, fourth, and fifth bottles of potion —
"Ecstasy agent", "Soothing agent", "Compound decoction" —
Snape gave highly similar reviews for each bottle of potion: "The technique is crude, but the effect is good."
Finally, Snape finished examining the last bottle of potion.
He turned to look at Elaine, his gaze icy, his voice laced with sarcasm.
"So, this is the result of your research over this period of time, Mr. Yakut?"
"You're wasting a precious resource by brewing potions this way!"
