Chapter 86 Who really got the better deal?
Despite Snape's attacks, Elaine showed no fear.
He even raised an eyebrow at the other person with a smug look.
Snape: Rage↑↑
"Cough cough————"
"Severus, forget about whether it's a waste of resources or not."
"First, tell me your opinion on these medicines."
Dumbledore quickly spoke up to smooth things over between the two.
Snape turned to Dumbledore and said in a resolute tone, "All these potions share the same characteristic: they are slightly more potent than those available on the market, but the brewing methods are extremely crude!"
"It's like some people drawing the Gryffindor sword but using it to chop melons and vegetables."
Snape was certain that these potions must have been brewed by one of the three people present.
It couldn't be Dumbledore or Sprout, because he was very familiar with their potion-making techniques, so it could only have been done by Elaine.
He didn't want to say anything nice, but he also couldn't bring himself to criticize Elaven's potion effects, so he could only nitpick about the brewing method.
As soon as Snape finished speaking, the Sorting Hat, which was placed on a cabinet not far away, bounced twice with a "thump".
However, none of the four people present paid any attention to it.
"I'm very fortunate that no one has done this so far."
Dumbledore laughed twice. "Clearly, you've already figured out that these potions were brewed by Elaine."
"But he's only a first-year student, so it's normal that his potion-making skills can't compare to yours, a master potion maker. Don't be too harsh on him."
"At least, the potions he brews are very effective, aren't they?"
Snape sneered again: "The potions are effective because the ingredients used to brew them are good. That's clearly Professor Sprout's doing. What does it have to do with him?"
"You're wrong, Severus."
"The herbs used to brew these potions weren't cultivated by me, but by Elaine!"
Sprout immediately spoke out to defend the reputation and interests of his little badger.
Snape's breath hitched, and he remained silent for several seconds.
"The assessment is complete. Can I leave now?"
He didn't want to stay in this office for another second.
But just then, Elaine suddenly called out to him, "Wait a minute, Professor Snape."
"With Professor Dumbledore and Professor Sprout present, I'd like to discuss a collaboration with you!"
Snape stopped in his tracks, turned around, and frowned. "What kind of cooperation?"
"Of course, it's a collaboration to produce and sell magic potions."
Elaine then recounted how he could use "plant magic" to accelerate the ripening of herbs.
"The current situation is that I can mass-produce magical herbs. Professor Snape, you possess the most advanced alchemy skills."
"If we cooperate, we can completely monopolize the potion market in the magical world!"
"How about we split the profits 80/20?"
As Elaine spoke, a bright smile spread across his face.
The people present all looked surprised; they hadn't expected that this young wizard would have a knack for business.
"A very good idea!"
Dumbledore's eyes were full of smiles: "If you intend to cooperate, I would be willing to act as a notary."
"I can also be a witness," Sprout immediately stepped forward to agree, while secretly glancing at Elaine.
Elaine was looking at her too.
The two exchanged a knowing smile.
A few days ago ————
"Professor, the effects of plant magic have been verified to be almost complete. Now I would like to ask for your help."
"What is it?"
Over the past two weeks, thanks to the two men's experiments, Sprout's herbs have yielded at least a year's worth of produce for free.
This made her treat Elaine with the same warmth and affection as she would her own son.
"Could you please prepare some different kinds of magical herbs for me?"
"I plan to use the same method to accelerate the growth of those herbs, so I can brew new potions with different effects!"
The new type of magic potion is made from herbs that have been ripened by Elaven, and its effects are stronger than ordinary potions.
If they could be put into the magic market, they would surely make a considerable profit.
Sprout was willing to help, but after hearing Elaine's plan, she offered a suggestion.
"You're just a first-year student, already burdened with studies, and you've already formed a club. If you were to cultivate magical herbs and brew potions now, you simply wouldn't have enough time and energy!"
"Why don't you find someone to collaborate with?"
"Professor Severus is the youngest Potions Master in the wizarding world today. His potion-making skills are among the top ten. He is also one of our own from Hogwarts. He is the best candidate."
Elaine wholeheartedly agreed with this.
"But I don't trust Professor Snape's character."
"What if he takes advantage of me because he's a professor? I can't beat him."
Although Sprout believed in Snape's character, he also felt that Elaine's concerns were not without merit.
"Don't worry about that!"
"I'll take you to Professor Dumbledore. With the two of us here, he wouldn't dare take another Nate from you!"
Let's go back to the present —
Dumbledore was a shrewd old man. As soon as he heard Elvin propose to Snape to collaborate on the drug production, he understood his plan and simply went along with the performance.
Snape was indeed somewhat tempted by Elaine's proposal.
Having reached his level of expertise in alchemy, any further breakthroughs in medicine would depend on advancements in materials science.
Now, the opportunity for a breakthrough in materials science has arrived, and it lies with Elaine!
Of course he didn't want to miss out!
Snape squinted as he approached Elaine, feigning disdain: "Cooperation is fine, but—why am I only 80%?"
"That's 80% mine! You only have 20%!"
Elaine's brows furrowed instantly, and he practically roared, "I provided the materials, so of course I get the lion's share of the profits!"
"—You mean I wasted time and effort crafting potions, only to get 20% of the profit?"
"That's right!"
Elaine nodded vigorously and pointed to the magic potion on the table.
"As you can see, even without advanced alchemy techniques, the potions I brew are 30% better than those on the market."
"In other words, even if you are unwilling to cooperate, I can still open up new markets as long as I spend some time."
"But only I possess the magic to make plants grow!"
"Without those magical herbs, no matter how skilled you are, you won't be able to concoct a better potion."
"Professor Dumbledore and Professor Sprout are both here. You, a Potions Master, do you really think you can take advantage of a first-year wizard like me?!"
You little rascal, you're just riding on someone else's coattails!
Who's really taking advantage of whom between us?!
Snape was about to say something when Dumbledore interrupted him first.
"Severus, I think Elaine has a point."
"Besides, he's an orphan, and he'll need money for many things in the future."
"You're a potions master, you're not short of money, why bother with such a small amount of profit?"
