I train Batman in a horror world

Chapter 5: Me, the Mouse...

Snow fell heavily.

A small, thin figure walked alone in the snow.

"I was so stupid, really."

Feeling the rising chill in the air, Bruce wrapped his coat tighter around himself and trudged steadily through the snowdrifts, leaving a trail of footprints.

"What's wrong again?" Foul, carrying a few snowflakes, stood on his shoulder, looking curious.

"There's absolutely no reason for me to stand outside in the snow. Wouldn't it have been better to just take me to a hotel?!"

Through his conversation with Fowle, Bruce realized that he had entered a completely new world.

Furthermore, Fowler told him a story.

There was a man named Jack who was an unemployed writer.

He got a job looking after a mountaintop hotel because of an opportunity.

This job suited Jack perfectly; he needed a secluded place to write, so he moved into the hotel with his wife and children.

Due to heavy snow blocking the roads in winter, no one except Jack and his family of three entered the hotel.

While guarding the hotel, Jack, for reasons unknown, actually tried to kill his wife and children!

This story seemed to have nothing to do with his understanding of horror.

It's exactly like a mental illness caused by being in a confined space for a long time.

Bruce had no idea what kind of training this could possibly provide!

"Well, since I'm going to be your guide, I need to tell you that before we arrive at an unfamiliar environment, we need to familiarize ourselves with our surroundings," Fowle said.

Bruce thought about it carefully and agreed that there was some truth to it.

Then he heard Fowle say this:

"As the first place for training, what you should learn most is to change your existing perceptions."

Bruce asked in bewilderment, "Change existing perceptions?"

Fowler shook his head, flicking away a few snowflakes, then said in a deliberately profound tone:

"For example, ghosts exist in this world."

"..."

Bruce stopped walking immediately.

Then he turned to look at the bat on his shoulder, without saying a word.

"What?" This time it was Foul's turn to be puzzled.

Bruce took several deep breaths, but found that the anger in his heart was difficult to quell!

He roared, "You're a talking bat who can eavesdrop on my thoughts, and you've shown me so many amazing things. Don't you think my preconceived notions will change?!"

He increasingly felt like he had boarded a pirate ship!

This bat doesn't look reliable at all!

He wants to go home!

"Damn it, all you do is ruin the mood!"

Foul was slightly annoyed; he had underestimated the astonishing wisdom of this little bat boy.

"But what I'm trying to say is that the world you live in is also full of mysterious forces, like Gotham," Foul continued.

"What do you mean?!" Bruce was somewhat shocked by Foul's statement.

Gotham?

Does this mean Gotham has ghosts?!

In that case, one's own parents...

But it was clear that Follow did not intend to talk about this topic much. After briefly mentioning it, he flapped his wings towards a spot not far ahead.

"We've arrived."

"..."

Bruce's gaze fell upon a massive resort hotel.

Although it is far inferior to its own Wayne Manor in terms of scale, the hotel's luxury and grandeur are still evident.

It looked like an ordinary hotel no matter how you looked at it. Bruce thought that instead of having Foll ask him to look at the hotel, it would be better to continue the previous topic.

"What's wrong with Gotham?" he asked.

"Just like this hotel, it's alive," Fowler remarked casually.

"!!!"

Bruce's preconceived notions were challenged once again, and his heart was filled with shock at that moment!

He wanted to press further, but was interrupted by Fowler as if he had foreseen this:

"While being a riddle solver is awesome, don't forget why we're here—the mysteries of Gotham... Trust me, you'll encounter them in the future."

"..."

Bruce absolutely hated Fol's pointless way of speaking!

Riddlers and stuff like that are so annoying!

After cursing Foul in his mind, he walked towards the hotel ahead.

Perhaps it was because Fore said the hotel was alive.

Bruce looked at the hotel, no longer feeling relaxed as before.

There's no going back now.

Because he had made up his mind to overcome his fear.

After calming down for a while.

Bruce quickened his pace and headed towards the closed hotel doors.

On the road.

He asked, "Since you say this hotel is alive, is there a possibility that it might not welcome me?"

"..."

Seeing that he received no response, Bruce turned his head to look at his shoulder, but did not see Fowler.

Fowler's sudden disappearance inexplicably made Bruce nervous.

He quickly turned around to look.

There stood Fuer, motionless, on the snow where he had just been standing.

"?What are you doing?"

Bruce looked puzzled, wondering what kind of trouble Fowler was up to now.

Because Foul looked rather comical at that moment.

It raised its wings, grabbed its little ears with its claws, and pulled them down, as if pulling a sheet up to cover its face on a bed.

But Fowler's next answer left Bruce speechless.

"I'm a little scared..."

"...?"

I've lost count of how many times this bat has left me speechless.

It is said that it is what hears its own desires.

It is also said to help one realize their wishes and overcome their fears.

It was this very thing that brought me to this unfamiliar environment!

And now they're saying it's a little scared!?

Afraid!?

At this very moment?

You must be joking with me!

Bruce angrily walked towards the bat and grabbed the guy!

"What are you afraid of?! If anyone should be afraid, it should be me, an eight-year-old child! What's so scary about a talking bat like you?!"

"What do you know, you little brat? I'm just a flying squirrel!"

Foul quickly added, "Besides, mice should stay on the outskirts, why are they going into the core area?! How about we go explore the maze over there? We could be potato mines, and maybe we can trick Old Jack!"

Bruce couldn't understand a word this guy was saying!

He simply thought that this guy was deliberately making fun of him!

"You're so irresponsible! What kind of training instructor are you?" Bruce yelled.

"I'll provide the field, you provide the labor, isn't that perfect?" Fowler said matter-of-factly.

"..."

Bruce closed his eyes, intending to strangle the guy, but found that Foul had landed on his fingers in a different, magical way.

"Fine, whatever."

Bruce waved his hand, trying to shake off this unreliable guy.

He turned around without looking back and walked towards the hotel alone.

He had only taken a few steps when what he saw made his heart clench!

"!!!"

The hotel doors had opened at some point!

During this entire period, not a single sound was heard!

At this point, Fowler suggested, "Right? I told you it's alive. Let's pretend to be Tang and pull a fast one on him."

"..."

After a moment of contemplation, Bruce's tone became unusually resolute:

"No, I have to go in!"

Foul didn't understand Bruce's attitude at this moment: "Why? Although your method is commendable, there are actually many training methods. I'm still very easy to talk to."

"..."

Bruce didn't respond, but walked straight toward the hotel's open welcome door.

Just before stepping into the hotel.

He stopped and looked back at Fore.

"Because I know what kind of impact a change in a parent's life can have on a child."

"And as I've said before, I will overcome my fear."

"It's up to you whether you come or not!"

After saying that, Bruce went into the hotel.

Fol tugged at his ear, unsure of what to say.

Bruce's determination is real.

He might actually be afraid.

After all, mice are the most timid creatures.

Unable to lose face in front of the children, Fowle flapped his wings and flew towards the hotel.

"I was just pretending to be tough, kid. You really think I'm scared?"

As one person and one bat entered.

The hotel doors seemed to have sensors; with a bang, they closed automatically.

Outside the hotel.

The snow fell even heavier.
