Chapter 35 If you can't beat them, call for reinforcements
Time flies, and Halloween is just around the corner. [Remember this website domain] Professor Snape finally showed his fangs—announcing the monthly exams in the sixth-year Potions class.
The seventh graders were quite busy, so I didn't take them out to play. Besides, they're already set in their ways, so there's no need to mess with their mindset.
The news caused an uproar throughout the entire school, except for Slytherin.
They never expected that Snape, as both professor and dean, would come to deceive and seduce them, a group of underage wizards.
Is this good? No, the young wizards really wanted to persuade Professor Snape to take the rattail juice and reflect on his actions, but because they were too afraid of the venom he spewed, no one objected. Apart from Headmaster Sprout of Hufflepuff complaining a bit, even Professor McGonagall was very supportive of Professor Snape's monthly exam plan.
When Professor McGonagall overheard Lewis discussing Slytherin's study plan with Catherine in the hallway, she pretended to look around but her ears were perked up. That very night, she forcefully implemented the exact same plan as Slytherin's in Gryffindor.
Anyway, she had nothing better to do than go back to that sad little house in Hogsmeade. She had plenty of time to mess with the Gryffindor lion cubs.
Ron was extremely annoyed. He and Harry complained to Louise more than once, wanting to make the culprit eat three pounds of slugs.
Louis suppressed the urge to teach them a lesson, silently repeating to himself: I'll take you down.
With Catherine's help, Louis's magic also improved by leaps and bounds. Most of his spells broke through the fifth level, and his armor protection improved the most, reaching the eighth level.
However, he still cannot defeat Catherine unless he fights to the death.
But since his senior was so good to him, there didn't seem to be any need to risk his life for her.
His relationship with Catherine was also growing stronger.
Flight class... In order to avoid exposing his weakness of knowing nothing about flying, he chose to skip class.
As a result, Professor Dumbledore caught him red-handed and made him eat several small cockroaches from a pile of cockroaches.
After a friendly exchange, Dumbledore finally agreed to Lewis's request not to take flying lessons, since he was a very easy-going person.
He sat in the headmaster's office, patted the 30 million pound cheque in his pocket, and remarked that Hogwarts' food expenses for decades had come far too easily.
As for Professor Quirrell, Voldemort seems to be intentionally grooming him, teaching him a lot of dark magic, and even mysteriously teaching him the Imperius Curse yesterday.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. He understood this principle. Voldemort seemed to be slowly boiling a frog, trying to lure him into the abyss of depravity little by little.
To be fair, he also had reason to be grateful to Voldemort—after all, many spells couldn't even be found in the Forbidden Books, especially the Imperius Curse.
This is a spell that, along with the Cruciatus Curse and the Killing Curse, is known as one of the three most unforgivable curses.
"So, that's your reason for reporting Professor Quirrell?" Headmaster Dumbledore shrugged.
Louis nodded firmly, his face radiating righteous indignation: "Yes, Professor, he actually taught his students the Unforgivable Curse. This behavior is simply... simply..."
Dumbledore said nothing, just sat there, calmly watching Louise perform.
I'll just quietly watch you show off, and I'll never bother you.
"This is absolutely outrageous." He saw Louis looking at him with expectant eyes and his words hit the nail on the head. No wonder he was the principal.
"Yes, utterly depraved." Louis agreed with the principal's assessment: "I always felt that Professor Quirrell had ulterior motives towards me, as if he wanted to deliberately lead me astray."
"That's a very serious accusation, Louis." Dumbledore sat up straight and poured Louis a glass of unsweetened lemonade. "I just don't understand. You've lost your joy at such a young age. Oh, I really can't accept a life without sugar."
"That's why people call you 'Old Bee' behind your back," Louis rolled his eyes and retorted.
"Isn't it a lovely nickname?" Dumbledore chuckled mischievously, pulling out a glass of lemonade as well. "Since you don't want sugar, I've added your share to mine... Ugh, alas, it's too sweet."
His white beard twitched, and he rummaged through the drawer, pulling out a clump of cockroaches. He tore one off and stuffed it into his mouth.
"Sometimes, I think you're more like a huntsman spider," Louis said, struggling to suppress a disgusted expression. "In low latitudes, there's a type of spider that's very large and shy, but they love to eat cockroaches."
For a moment, Louis forgot how to say it in English, so he used the Latin scientific name for the white-fronted huntsman spider.
"But the title 'Old White-browed Tall-legged Spider'... well, it's a bit too much of a mouthful." Dumbledore didn't mind the students giving him nicknames; instead, he discussed it with him in a serious manner.
"Then Professor, let's not change the subject—you actually know that Professor Quirrell is very suspicious, right?" Louis tried to cut off Old Deng's middle lane.
Dumbledore remained noncommittal and continued eating the pile of cockroaches.
Louis pulled a card from his pocket, and to avoid any negative impact—after all, there were so many portraits in the Headmaster's office—he wrote on the card: "Aren't you afraid that Voldemort will really turn on you if you let him in?"
Dumbledore took the card, glanced at its contents, and suddenly looked up, two sharp glints flashing behind his half-moon spectacles, as if trying to see through Louis's heart.
He quickly regained his kind and amiable old man's expression: "I must admit, your sense of smell is very keen... When did you discover it?"
"At the Sorting Ceremony, Professor." Louis lied; he had actually known this for many years.
But that didn't stop him from continuing his lies without batting an eye: "Harry said his scar hurt when he stared at Professor Snape... but how could Professor Snape, with his family's love-hate relationships... possibly be involved with Voldemort?"
"I thought about it carefully, and the person sitting next to Professor Snape at the time was Professor Quirrell. He had his back to Potter, so I suspect that Voldemort wasn't completely dead and might be parasitizing Professor Quirrell. Otherwise, Harry's scar wouldn't be hurting."
As he spoke, he took Jerry, who had been struggling for a long time, out of his pocket and placed him on the table.
"Excellent judgment, Louis." Dumbledore handed Jerry a cockroach candy.
Jerry sniffed with a look of disgust, but then he smelled something sweet. He glanced at the old man in front of him with one eye open and one eye closed, but after a while he couldn't find anything wrong with him, he opened his mouth wide and swallowed the still struggling cockroach whole, chewed it a few times and then burped it down.
The swallowed food, in a very unscientific and magical way, gushed down his throat into his stomach, causing his stomach to slam onto the table with a thud before bouncing back to its original position.
"Regarding Voldemort..." Dumbledore thought for a moment, then finally sighed, "Never mind, now that you're one of us, there's no need to hide anything from you... My intention was to give Harry some experience, hoping he could grow from this experience."
