"I..." Louis was about to speak when Catherine pushed him away. (Due to caching issues, please access the website directly through your browser for the fastest chapter updates.)

"Stop your idiotic thinking. Are you trying to humiliate me or yourself by saying these words in this situation?" Catherine's voice was cold, and she looked at Louis with indifferent eyes.

"Pull out your wand!" she said coldly.

"Kathy, I..." Louis tried to make a final struggle.

"Pull out your wand!" she hissed, like a wounded lioness.

Louis sighed and drew his wand.

He knew that no matter what he said, he wouldn't appease Catherine.

"Let's settle this once and for all," a thought flashed through his mind, but he quickly realized something was wrong.

How could I think that? He was so shocked by his own thoughts that he didn't even realize Catherine had made her move.

When the two usually duel, Catherine's first spell is always to knock the opponent unconscious.

A blinding red light flashed, and Louis was sent flying far away by the spell, crashing into the corner of a table and smashing it to pieces. His body continued to slam against the wall with the force of the impact.

He felt a surge of heat rushing out from his ribs, and even the slightest movement caused intense pain.

My ribs are broken.

That was his only thought.

Compared to that, the long wound on my arm is nothing.

Most importantly, he began to subconsciously mutter to himself again.

Catherine rushed over, her fists clenched, her eyes filled with concern. She was about to speak, but then forced a cold expression: "You think I'll forgive you like this? Trying to gain my sympathy?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, she felt annoyed. She clearly didn't mean to say that. She felt something was off between them, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was.

Louis endured the pain, narrowed his eyes slightly, and said with a smile, "Since you know me so well, you should know that someone like me only needs to be true to myself."

Yes...that's it...

The voice in his heart continued to urge him on, and he even felt a strange sense of pleasure.

He stood up unsteadily, not looking at Catherine, and said in a low voice, "At least for now, I believe I have atoneed. From now on, we owe each other nothing. Alright... may I go now?"

As he spoke, a sweet taste rose in his throat, which he tried to suppress but only made things worse.

He coughed up a mouthful of blood, staining the floor beneath his feet red.

Catherine knew he was in a bad mood and wanted to say something gentler, but her pride prevented her from speaking. By now, her initial anger had long since dissipated; she was merely putting on a brave face to avoid losing face.

Seeing Louis staggering forward, she went over and grabbed him, saying awkwardly with concern, "Why are you walking like this? Why don't you stay and eat some Bone Spirit?"

"I don't like to offer my warm face to a cold ass." He shook off Catherine's hand without turning his head and said coldly.

Louis was telling the truth. He had his own pride, and since others had already said that, why bother making a fool of himself?

Catherine didn't speak. After casting a petrification spell on him, she planned to use a levitation spell to put him on the bed, but then thought it was inappropriate.

With some difficulty, she picked Louis up horizontally and carried him back to the bedroom, placing him on her bed.

Catherine took the Bone Spirit from the cabinet and poured it all into Louis's mouth.

"Finite!"

As soon as the petrification spell wore off, Louis, who had been choked, couldn't control himself and started coughing violently. This only made matters worse, as it aggravated the injury on his ribs. For a moment, he was in so much pain that he really wanted to cast an Avada Kedavra on himself.

Louis gritted his teeth and endured the pain from the aggravated wound, giving Catherine a cold look.

"You could try the Fiendfyre spell; that way, I can be spared some of the pain... Or are you trying to humiliate me to please yourself?"

He was a completely different person now than before, and under the guidance of that whisper, his inexplicable resentment grew even stronger.

Since we owe each other nothing, what's the harm in becoming strangers?

Catherine felt as if her heart was being squeezed tightly; Louis's cold gaze sent chills down her spine.

She realized that if she continued to cling to her pride, she would lose her fawn forever.

She wanted to say something, to do something, but she didn't know what to do.

No, rather than saying I don't know what to do, it's more accurate to say...

Deep within her, a whispered murmur tugged at her, preventing her from getting closer to Louis.

"I have three suggestions. The first is the Fiendfyre spell," Louis said calmly, as if he were talking about something unrelated to himself. "The second is Oblivion. With just a wave of the wand, the unpleasantness between us... whoosh."

He flicked his palm: "It will disappear."

"Personally, I would recommend the third one more," Louis continued. "Out-of-body experience, how about that? Once you cast this spell, you can breathe however you want from now on."

"By the way, if you don't know, the spell is Imperio."

"Enough, Louis!" Catherine's eyes reddened. "Are you really going to ruin our relationship?"

Louis laughed upon hearing this, and then asked, "Is that really what I want?"

Catherine was stunned.

"We've always been friends." As soon as Louis finished speaking, the effects of the Life-Generating Elixir kicked in. He endured the tingling, numbness, itching, and swelling sensations and calmly said, "In my mother's hometown, there's a saying: 'The friendship between gentlemen should be as clear as water, while the friendship between commoners should be as sweet as honey.' This is also my motto."

"Even if I were to see Harry, it would only be at Professor Dumbledore's request. I would much rather bask in the sun at the manor than travel in a dusty carriage to deal with problems that are not my responsibility."

Catherine suddenly said, "But you promised to write to me, isn't that breaking your promise?"

"Why should I write to you before Dumbledore asks me to handle Harry's affairs?" Louis retorted. "There are still thirty days of vacation left. Give me a reason why I won't write to you in the next thirty days."

"The moment I saw your owl, my first thought was to come and find you in person, which is enough to show how much I value you... And you, I still can't understand what I did to make you treat me like this. You won't even call me Louis."

Catherine was about to speak when Louis put his index finger to his lips: "There's another saying, 'If the mountain won't come to Muhammad, then Muhammad will go to the mountain.' Although I haven't written to you these past few days, have you thought of writing to me?"

"Since you haven't even thought about it, what right do you have to criticize me?"

Louis was truly exhausted from standing on the high ground. He looked at Catherine and continued, "I believe I have fulfilled my duties as a friend and as a gentleman."

"I've never done this to anyone before. I was willing to humble myself and beg for my best friend's forgiveness just to make her feel better, but now it seems..."

"Worry, it seems... my best friend doesn't consider me her friend..."
