I changed football.

"With a 2-0 away win against Leverkusen in the first leg, Monaco has clearly gained the upper hand in the Europa League Round of 2. The two away goals advantage will make the second leg even more difficult for Leverkusen."

"Li Yuan was named Man of the Match for his goal and assist, marking his fifth goal and third assist in the Europa League. Also—"

At this moment, Zhan Jun raised his voice, indicating that what he was about to say was extremely important.

"At the same time, Li Yuan also surpassed the 4 goals scored by South Korean star Cha Bum-kun, who played for Bayer Leverkusen in the 1987-88 season, and officially became the Asian player with the most goals in a single season in European league history! This is undoubtedly a historic moment."

"Li Yuan scored 5 goals in just 5 games, which is extremely rare. Li Yuan has set a series of records, and there's also good news to share. Just now, Gao Hongbo, the acting head coach of the Chinese national team, officially announced the 30-man squad for the final two matches of the World Cup qualifiers in 13 days. This squad will be officially reduced to 23 players before the national team match day, and Li Yuan, today's protagonist, is among the 30 players!"

"In the post-match interview, one of our Chinese reporters asked Li Yuan a question about the national team. Let's take a look."

Li Yuan, holding the Best Player trophy, first gave an interview to the official Europa League media on the sidelines, and then went to a special interview room for a quick interview.

In general, "quick interviews" in football refer to brief, informal interviews conducted after the match. Typically, there's a sign on the sidelines, and the interviewer stands in front of it.

Another type of interview is conducted in a room. You've seen many Premier League managers being interviewed after a match in front of a blue sign in a corner – that's called a quick interview.

When Li Yuan arrived at the instant lottery room, he saw an Asian face and then noticed that she was holding a sign for Leshi Sports.

Are you Chinese?

"I am Liu Chang, a reporter from Leshi Sports."

Li Yuan looked at her more and more familiarly. Wasn't this Liu Chang, the Manchester City female fan who later became a commentator for Migu? She was considered one of the better-looking female football commentators.

Li Yuan gets a little carried away as soon as he sees a woman who interests him.

He even took the initiative to shake hands with Liu Chang.

Liu Chang was clearly a little excited and nervous.

I'm excited to see Li Yuan, an idol figure in Chinese football right now, and nervous too—

Is this your first time using a quick scan?

How did you know?

"You seem very nervous. It's okay, there's no need to be nervous."

Since the camera signal hadn't arrived yet, the two could chat for a while.

But just then the signal came through, and Liu Chang immediately went into interview mode.

"Hello, Li Yuan, this is Liu Chang, a special correspondent from Leshi Sports. Today, I want to ask you a question that all Chinese football fans are concerned about. The national team recently announced its 30-man roster, and you are on it. You previously participated in the national youth team in 2015, but this is the first time someone has skipped directly from the youth team to the national team. Do you have anything to say to the fans about being selected for the national team? I've seen a very enthusiastic response from fans online." (By the way, I checked the information and didn't see any other players who skipped directly from the youth team to the national team. If so, please point it out so I can correct it.)

"Of course, I was very excited to be selected for the senior national team for the first time. Coach Gao called me a while ago to talk about it. He asked if I was willing to shoulder the pressure of joining the national team. I said at the time, 'With great power comes great responsibility.' I am currently the only Chinese footballer playing in one of the top five European leagues. I know that many Chinese fans are watching me, and many are looking forward to me playing in these two World Cup qualifying matches. Whether it's for Chinese football, for the fans, or for myself, joining the national team is an inescapable responsibility for me!"

Liu Chang continued, "In the last two matches of the World Cup qualifiers in March, we didn't actually have the initiative. Under these circumstances, do you think the Chinese team could successfully break through and advance to the final 12?"

"The claim that we lack initiative is a false premise. We have two matches: one against the Maldives and one against Qatar. Winning both and securing a +10 goal difference will qualify us as one of the four best second-placed teams and allow us to advance. That's the only standard for us to qualify for the final round of 12. If we don't meet that, we'll have to rely on other teams' results. So, as long as we perform well enough, we can advance without depending on anyone else's outcome. The reason why the public says we don't have the initiative is simple: many people don't believe we can win both matches and have a +10 goal difference. But what I want to say is, we need to do our best, and then we won't have to rely on anyone else's results—that's enough!"

When Liu Chang heard Li Yuan say this, she was obviously taken aback. She thought Li Yuan would say something official or just make empty promises, but she didn't expect Li Yuan to issue a direct challenge with a very tough attitude. The implication was that "I'm here, and this matter can be accomplished."

Liu Chang's expression froze for a moment, then she regained her composure. She continued looking at Li Yuan, flashing her standard business smile, and asked her final question: "You performed exceptionally well in today's match. You've also surpassed Cha Bum-kun to become the Asian player with the most goals in a single European league season. It must feel amazing, right?"

Li Yuan genuinely had no idea and listened with a blank expression until the very end when he finally realized what was happening: "Huh? Five goals is already the most goals scored in a single season? An Asian player—"

Li Yuan only realized what he was talking about at this point and quickly said, "Then I am indeed very honored, because we still have more games to play, so I hope I can score more goals."

However, Li Yuan's expression still stuck with us.

This post-match interview went viral in the country.

Fans have differing opinions. Some think Li Yuan is too impulsive, making it seem so easy for someone who has never played for the national team.

Some people believe that youth should be vigorous and energetic; if you're not vigorous and energetic now, when will you be?

Li Yuan's expression when he heard that he had become the Asian player with the most goals in a single season in the history of the Europa League—a look of disbelief followed by surprise and a hint of disdain—has also been the subject of much discussion.

"It's clear that Li Yuan never expected Asian players to perform so poorly in the Europa League. Five goals is already the most goals scored by an Asian player in a single Europa League season."

"Li Yuan probably just didn't realize it yet. After all, Asia is so big, and Iran has produced quite a few players who have played in Europe's top five leagues in the past."

Do you guys think Li Yuan can win the Europa League Golden Boot?
