The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard

Chapter 21 The Declaration of the Empire

Blue Galaxy, Blue Star orbit, on the deck of a light cruiser.

Elpis stood on the deck of the war room, observing the beautiful blue planet before him through the one-way mirror on the side of the ship.

Just now, the Empire named this newly emerged region the Blue Galaxy, and named the blue planet inhabited by humans before them the Blue Star.

"A beautiful planet, without war or destruction, very pristine." Loken stood behind Elpis, staring at the planet before him, and murmured to himself.

"Teacher, aren't other planets like this?" After hearing Loken's mutterings, Leon stopped examining the equipment inside the ship and asked.

"This is your first time boarding a ship, isn't it?" Loken pointed to the planet beneath his feet. "Actually, most planets in the universe have relatively simple landscapes. Here, there are oceans, land, forests, and so on, with white, blue, green... all sorts of colors intertwined. There's no destruction, no radiation, no steel. I think only Macragge has such a beautiful scene."

Leon didn't speak, only nodded silently. It was also his first time in space, his first time aboard a spaceship, and everything was so new and interesting. Of course, there were also some less interesting experiences—subspace travel.

Initially, Leon was very curious about warp travel, after all, it involved faster-than-light travel. However, after the cruiser tore through the barrier of reality and entered warp space, Leon regretted it. He sensed the malice of warp space, and his keen intuition told him that the ship was traveling in a very dangerous place.

Throughout the ordeal, Leon remained highly tense. Fortunately, Loken noticed Leon's unusual behavior in time, and after some reassurance and conversation, Leon's condition improved.

Ada was doing alright. Perhaps it was because of her Untouchable nature, but she didn't show any unusual emotions while traveling in the warp. She mostly observed the various equipment on the ship or studied and practiced in her room.

Just as everyone was quietly admiring the beautiful blue planet, the door to the war room opened, and three Astartes walked in. Their armor was painted in four equal parts of blue and white, with a skull surrounded by a twelve-pointed star on their left shoulder, and the Astartes in front were even taller.

"My lord, Lucretius Corvo, captain of the Nova Corps, pays his respects." The leading Astartes introduced Elpis, who was clad in golden armor, to him. "Lord Guilliman has sent our Nova Corps to assist in the reconquest of humanity's lost lands."

"Please convey my gratitude to Guilliman," Elpis calmly replied to Chapter Master Corvo. "However, this human world is rather backward and not yet unified. The most powerful weapons are only low-yield nuclear weapons and immature laser weapons. The Astronautical Army can take over this world with just a little effort."

“Yes, my lord,” Chapter Master Corvo continued, “but we warriors of Alteramar are better suited to rebuild this world.”

"Moreover, you've parked your ships directly in orbit around Earth, without any concealment or response to communications from the ground." The warband commander keenly sensed the thoughts of the Imperial Guard appointed as its commander-in-chief. "It seems you'd rather take over this world through peaceful negotiations."

“Good,” Elpis nodded. “Send a message to the ground. If they surrender, Commander Corvo, you will go and negotiate in my stead. If they don’t surrender, then unleash the Emperor’s wrath.”

Ground level, United Nations command center.

A meeting was being held in the conference room. Many people were busily moving around, their faces showing tension and anxiety as they discussed the enormous ship that had appeared in space.

Just hours before, world leaders were peacefully attending to their affairs when a sudden message shattered the tranquility. Images transmitted from their respective national satellites showed several spaceships, each several kilometers long, appearing in the solar system.

The opposing fleet appeared suddenly and without any concealment, heading straight for Earth. Before all the national leaders could even convene, the fleet had already reached Earth's orbit, its massive shadow visible even from the ground.

At that moment, everyone panicked. Rumors of the end of the world, alien invasion, and so on spread rapidly online. Some national leaders tried to cover it up, but it didn't work very well.

In a secret meeting room at the United Nations command center, representatives from the five major countries were discussing a plan.

"Gentlemen, have you received any messages from the other side?" The American representative broke the silence in the conference room.

The representatives from the other countries exchanged glances, then looked at their assistants behind them, and all shook their heads.

"We can't just stand by and watch," the representative from the Russian bear said, his tone somewhat impatient. "We need to assemble our troops, show our nuclear weapons, and prepare for war."

"No, we still don't know where these fleets came from or what their purpose is." The Dragon Kingdom representative rejected the Bear Kingdom representative's suggestion. "They're so blatant; their technological level must be far superior to ours."

"Damn it, these are truly troublesome times." The American representative clenched his right fist and slammed it on the table. "A few months ago, Umbrella Corporation went awry for some reason; almost all of its subsidiaries came to a standstill, and there was some kind of virus leak. None of their management showed up to explain; they all disappeared. Now there's this alien."

"To bomb your own city with nuclear weapons," the representative from the Russian country sarcastically remarked, "only your country's politicians would make such a decision."

"you……"

"Alright, now is not the time to argue," the Dragon Kingdom representative advised from the sidelines. "We are facing both external and internal troubles. Only by uniting can we solve these problems."

Just as they were still discussing, a series of electromagnetic interference noises entered the conference room.

All cell phones, TVs, and computer screens in the conference room were forcibly turned on—not just in the conference room, but on all screens in the world. A golden double-headed eagle logo appeared on the screen, the main element being a double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, the two heads facing east and west respectively.

Even all devices capable of broadcasting sound were forcibly turned on.

Around the world, people who noticed the anomaly stopped what they were doing and looked at the screen or listened to the sound with surprise. The text on the screen and the sound from the device were all in English.

"I am Lucretius Corvo, the Iron-Oathed Son of Robert Guilliman, Lord of the Five Hundred Worlds of the Empire of Man, the Lord of the Five Hundred Worlds of Alteramar, and the Chapter Master of the Nova Warriors Chapter."

"All human worlds will be under the protection and rule of the Lord of Humanity."

"Our fellow citizens on Earth will also bask in the glory of the Emperor."

"We will arrive in three days to receive the Emperor's blessings!"
