The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 54 Ghost Agent
Three days later, Norard 2 chose to hover on the shaded side of Antigia 2, and Reno, Leon, Locken, and Chris boarded a transport plane and headed to Antigia's main planet.
The coordinates provided by Kerrigan are located north of the capital of Antiga, where Federation officials have been relocated to military bases due to increasingly fierce resistance.
It was already evening when the group arrived at the rendezvous point, which was located in the mountains near the base. From this vantage point, they could clearly observe the activities of the personnel throughout the military base.
When they arrived, Kerrigan was already waiting there. Her emerald green eyes shone sharply in the dim twilight, and her form-fitting Wraith suit accentuated her stunning figure.
"Sheriff Reynolds, I've completed my reconnaissance of this area," Kerrigan said, glancing at the arriving group, then frowning. "And... you lecher!"
"What? I haven't said anything yet!" Renault was shocked. He had only admired this beautiful lady in his mind, how did she know?
"Yeah, but what you're really thinking is..." Kerrigan rolled her eyes at Reno.
"Oh, right, you have telepathy." Renault suddenly realized, not daring to think any further.
It turns out that people with spiritual power can acquire many abilities, but telepathy is just a minor one.
Kerrigan turned her gaze back to the others, but her telepathic communication failed to register anything; she couldn't read any of their thoughts.
Just as she was about to increase her psionic energy output and continue to sense the other party's thoughts, a terrifying, bloody aura pressed down upon her.
Especially the one in the lead; his aura was not something an ordinary person could possess, more like a demon who had fought his way out of a mass grave.
Kerrigan immediately stopped her psionic output, refusing to forcefully collide with the aura.
"Captain," Loken's deep voice came, "it's not a good thing to pry into other people's thoughts."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone," Kerrigan said. "It's just that this is the first time I've encountered a situation like this, and I wanted to find out what it was all about."
"Alright, let's get down to business," Renault reminded him from the side.
Kerrigan quickly regained her composure and returned to the calm of a professional agent. She lowered the goggles hanging above her head and projected a three-dimensional layout of the military base onto the screen, displaying it to everyone.
"Nearly a thousand auxiliary soldiers, about four hundred Marines, ten Goliath armed robots, and four siege tanks are stationed at the base, with four pointing to key locations on the southern defensive positions." Kerrigan pointed to key locations on the holographic image with her finger.
"Breaking news: the Federation has sent three Ghost Agents. Their exact location is unknown; all that is known is that they are at this base."
"What's the plan?" Renault asked.
"If I infiltrate directly, I'll easily be discovered by the Ghosts and alert them," Kerrigan said, revealing her plan. "If I can create enough commotion around the base to lure out the Ghosts, I can infiltrate the base and wipe out the high-ranking officers all at once."
"No problem, leave the outside to us, you go and assassinate those high-ranking officials," Loken said.
Soon after, under the cover of night, Leon, Chris, and Loken arrived at the power station next to the base. Several gunshots rang out, and all the guards there fell.
Leon located the gate and shut off the power system, plunging the entire base into darkness, with only the emergency lights remaining on.
Immediately afterwards, several more loud explosions came from the direction of the base, the power of the cluster bombs directly destroying all the roads leading to the outside world from the base.
This was part of the plan: Raynor planted bombs to destroy roads, creating the illusion that the Rebels were preparing to attack; Astartes cut off the power, luring the enemy Ghosts to the power station; and Kerrigan took the opportunity to assassinate high-ranking Confederate officials.
Now we're just waiting for the fish to take the bait.
Time ticked by, and the three Astartes remained hidden behind the massive power reactor. Loken's helmet's motion sensor detected an extremely faint movement of heat from the crisscrossing pipes overhead.
"Here it comes," Loken uttered only one word in the channel.
The next second, three dark figures leaped down from the 20-meter-high pipe, landing almost silently.
They were dressed in Ghost-made stealth combat suits and carried C-10 rifles, the muzzles of which were already pointed at the three Astartes lurking in the direction the moment they landed.
However, Astartes' reaction surpassed human limits. In the instant the shadow leaped to the ground, Leon and Chris were ejected to the sides like cannonballs, the roar of the slug gun shattering the silence.
Loken's chainsaw whistled as it drew an arc of light, precisely slashing towards the target of the leading ghost.
"Bang! Bang!"
Two explosions rang out almost simultaneously. These were not the sounds of a bomb gun, but rather armor-piercing rounds fired from the Ghost C-10 rifle, rounds powerful enough to tear through heavy armor.
However, the next moment, they were deflected by the deflection field carried by Astartes and passed through the metal wall next to them.
The Ghost Captain, upon landing, clearly hadn't anticipated the ambush attacker's absurd reaction speed and defensive capabilities. However, his combat experience was extremely rich. Using the momentum of his fall, he rolled on the spot, dodging Loken's fatal slash, while simultaneously firing his rifle to suppress Loken's movements.
The other two Ghosts immediately spread out using the complex cover upon landing, attempting to create distance and take advantage of their sniping skills.
But this was the battlefield Astartes had chosen. Chris appeared like a ghost behind a phantom trying to climb higher, and his fist slammed down with a dull thud.
The ghost didn't even have time to turn around; it could only rely on its years of combat instincts to roll to the side while throwing a stun grenade.
The intense light and loud noise had a negligible effect on the Astartes' enhanced senses and helmet filtration system.
Chris's pursuit slowed slightly as a precise three-round burst from his slug gun sealed off all of the ghosts' escape routes. Blood splattered in the shadows, and a ghost fell to the ground.
Meanwhile, Leon quickly caught up with the second Ghost. Just as the Ghost was about to pull the trigger, Leon drew his combat dagger and slashed it across the Ghost's rifle, instantly breaking the C-10 in two.
At the same time, Leon punched the ghost in the head with his left hand. The enormous force instantly shattered the ghost's head, and another ghost fell to the ground.
Seeing his comrade die instantly, the remaining Ghost Captain knew he had no chance of escape and prepared to commit suicide. But in the instant the Ghost Captain was distracted by observing his comrade, Loken seemed to teleport to his side, his chainsaw roaring.
The ghost leader could only see the enemies growing ever taller and his own headless body, until finally only the image of a demonic, armored giant was reflected on his retina.
The battle lasted less than fifteen seconds from start to finish. All three elite Federal Ghost Agents were killed.
At that moment, a static crackled through the communication equipment, followed by a clear female voice: "Target assassination complete." It was Kerrigan's voice. "How's it going on your end?"
"Cleanup complete," Leon said in the channel.
"Alright. It's time to let the war rage." Kerrigan finished speaking and ended the communication.
