The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard

Chapter 71 The Clown's Attack

The night wind continued to rustle the white curtains on the tower's balcony, but Elpis's contemplation was interrupted by a faint explosion and a sharp alarm.

A glimpse through the night revealed black smoke billowing over the grand avenue following the explosion, accompanied by the sound of alarms, indicating that this massive corridor leading directly to the Holy Throne Hall had been invaded.

"Intruders," Elpis muttered to himself.

He turned abruptly, his helmet snapping shut instantly, the Moon Goddess Spear twirling lightly in his hand, his golden figure transforming into a shooting star as he sped towards the depths of the palace.

The area outside the palace was in chaos, with the Spirit Clan clown troupe moving like ghosts between the corridors and halls.

The Eldar were the rulers of the galaxy long before the birth of humankind.

They are a naturally gifted psionic race, and every member of their race possesses powerful psionic talents.

Later, due to their own depravity, they were almost completely wiped out at the first cry of the Prince of Joy, with only a few Eldar hiding deep within the Web.

During the Great Crusade, when the Lord of Mankind was still active among humans, these aliens had already interacted with them.

Now, for some unknown reason, these Eldar aliens have directly invaded the human throne world, even heading straight for the throne room.

A Spirit Clan clown moved with light steps, leaping gracefully and drawing a perfect arc in the air. A glint of light flashed in his Star Dart Pistol, and a Star Dart was launched.

These star darts, made of monomolecular materials, slashed through the neck of a mortal guard at an incredible angle before continuing their flight and embedding themselves in the wall beside him.

The blood of the mortal guards gushed out instantly, forming a curtain of blood. The clown lightly touched the ground with his toes, his slender body leaning slightly forward, as if paying homage to the fallen lives in a final bow.

The next second, deadly laser beams rained down. The clown stretched out his arms, put one leg on the ground, and spun like a top.

The clown's posture didn't resemble a pathetic attempt to dodge, but rather a graceful ballet performance.

As the dance progressed, the clown sang loudly. Although it was impossible to understand what they were singing, the clown's dance steps perfectly matched the melody of the song.

Sometimes fast, sometimes slow, one beat, two beats, three beats... and then, one body, two bodies, three bodies... As the song ended, dozens of guards who had surrounded the clown all fell into pools of blood.

Illuminated by the surrounding firelight, the clown's magnificent costume radiated a dangerous aura, and the expression on the clown mask was forever frozen between maniacal laughter and sorrowful weeping.

The clown vanished in the next moment, moving so fast that he even left an afterimage in his place.

"They are there, for the Emperor, to annihilate the invaders!" shouted an officer in black armor, leading nearly two hundred guards in full black armor to besiege the approaching Eldar clowns.

They were Lucifer's Black Guard, the elite troops guarding the outskirts of the palace.

They drew their power swords, charged at the clowns, divided the battlefield, and surrounded the seven clowns.

Nearby, the Black Guards desperately held off the clown; in the distance, the Black Guards continuously fired their ranged weapons, attempting to kill the intruder.

Seven clowns, like stars in the center of the stage, ignored the surrounding crowd and continued to sing and dance gracefully, completing their performance.

The star darts erupted from the clown's hand, each one piercing the guards' black armor with pinpoint accuracy, either striking their hearts or severing their throats.

Blackguard's sacrifice did not delay them in the slightest.

"This road is blocked!" A tall, imposing Iverson-like assassin blocked the last clown trying to break through.

Iverson is the most ferocious assassin in the Imperial Assassin's Guild, possessing immense physical strength and specializing in decapitating high-value enemy targets.

This Iverson assassin was a servant of the great mentor, Wangorich, and his most powerful subordinate.

The clown stopped, casually kicking aside the corpse of the Black Guard at his feet. He tilted his head toward the assassin. A black tear slid down his cheek again and again, seeping onto his clown mask.

Iverson, the assassin, drew his power sword and launched the first attack.

The clown leaped lightly behind and above his head, completing three full somersaults in the air. His spinning figure split into several clones in mid-air, making it impossible to distinguish which one was his true form.

The chemical reaction within the assassin's body took effect, slowing down his perception of time and allowing him to see the four star darts aimed at him.

He dodged several times, but the fourth shot was too late to avoid and pierced his thigh, embedding itself in his alloy skeleton.

The drug stimulated the wound on his thigh again, reducing his pain. Then, with a spinning back kick, he aimed straight for the alien's head.

The clown leaned back to dodge the attack and then somersaulted backward.

The assassin leaped into the air again, slashing at the alien with his power sword.

The clown raised his hand, and the "Clown's Kiss" mounted on his left hand parried the attack. He then flipped it over, and the syringe-like weapon deflected the power sword's attack. Then, he spun and kicked, striking the assassin squarely in the face.

The assassin staggered back a few steps, feigning dizziness. Upon seeing this, the clown immediately stepped forward to kill him.

Just as the clown's weapon was about to pierce him, the assassin stepped to the side, changed his posture, and pounced on the clown.

"The Joker's Kiss" was deflected from its original target due to the assassin's movements and instead pierced the abdomen.

Instantly, molecular-level monofilaments shot out from the weapon's tip, frantically tearing apart the assassin's flesh and internal organs. At the same time, the assassin let out a beast-like roar, shattering the clown's left hand bones with a punch and pulling out the Clown's Kiss.

The clown's left hand hung limply at his sides, his body swaying violently in the struggle. The alien rolled along the assassin's arm, the immense force causing the two to spin together, like intimate dance partners, tightly embracing each other.

"As a human being, you fought very well," he said in high Gothic with an accent, his voice clear and melodious.

At the same time, the clown had already drawn his Star Dart pistol and pressed it against the assassin's jaw.

"Bang!"

In an instant, a cracking sound rang out.

The clown's head suddenly tilted to the side, revealing a charred hole emitting blue smoke at the temple of his mask.

Grand Master Wangorich emerged from the shadows of a nearby building, reaching out to remove the laser ring from his knuckles, revealing his charred fingers. He clutched his injured finger, a pained expression on his face.

Wano Ritchie strode toward the dead alien. "They were the elite of the elite. We were lucky to kill it." He clenched his fist. "It hurts terribly."

"Thank you so much, mentor." Iverson, the assassin, gasped for breath, clutching his stomach as blood gushed from his abdomen.

"The question is, what is he doing here?" The Grand Master took out a precious potion of elixirs and injected it into the assassin's body. "I wanted to interrogate him. Unfortunately, I had to kill him to save you, but I had no other choice."

Wangorich thought for a moment, then glanced at the clown's corpse: "Seven in total."

He saw the aliens that had continued to penetrate deeper into the distance, and the Black Guards who had all perished: "May the Emperor protect us. There are still six left. Hopefully, we can make it in time."
