The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 74 Reassembly
Deep within the palace, the bloodstains before the Gate of Eternity had not yet completely dried. Elpis withdrew his gaze from the Shadow Prophet being led away by the Grand Master, his doubts deepening.
"We don't have time to wait for the Primarch to return." Elpis turned to the Shield Guard captain beside him. "We must take the initiative."
"These orcs are nothing to fear; they pose no threat to the Throne Hall." The purple feathers on Captain Beloit's helmet swayed gently with his subtle movements. "However, I will not interfere with your decision."
After bidding farewell to the Shield Guard captain, Elpis traversed the intricate palace corridors and finally arrived at the Imperial Guard's private communications room.
He activated the internal communications array. "Connect to Mars. I want to speak directly with Forging General Kubik."
The communication was not established immediately; only a piercing binary noise and verification prompts from layers of encryption protocols were heard.
Time ticked by, and just as Elpis was about to lose his patience, the holographic image distorted, and General Kubik appeared on the screen.
"So it's Lord Elpis. It's been a thousand years. What brings you to summon me personally?" A monotonous, mechanical voice, synthesized from multiple layers, came from the speaker.
In the holographic image, Kubik sits on his mechanical throne, which is itself like a giant data core.
Countless thick data pipes connect to the back of the throne, which is covered with shimmering interfaces, a buzzing array of thinkers, hovering and standing servo skulls, and other mysterious devices.
"General Forging, Mars must immediately dispatch all available combat fleets and combat units to Terra to attack the Battle Moon," Elpis said without any pleasantries, getting straight to the point.
"Oh, sir, according to our calculations, the success rate of destroying the Orc Battle Moon head-on is extremely low. I do not recommend that you do so," Kubik said.
"This is not a tactical suggestion, this is an order." Elpis's voice was deep, and his figure appeared extremely majestic in front of the communication screen. "In the name of Holy Terra, according to the Olympian Accords, you must send troops."
"My lord, as you know, our ground forces are formidable, but our fleet is ill-suited for this kind of operation," Kubik said. "Our fleet is too small. Attacking the Battle Moon would result in the loss of valuable military assets that could have been better used elsewhere."
"General Forging, I don't have time to calculate casualty ratios with you," Elpis said. "Astartes is gathering and will arrive soon."
"You must dispatch your fleet immediately, or after dealing with the orcs, I will personally come and discuss with you what the blessing of the God of Machines is."
The communication channel fell into dead silence, with only the low hum of the servo skull breaking through the silence.
Kubik's crimson prosthetic eye flashed wildly, and the surrounding array of Thinkers lit up one by one as countless torrents of data collided and weighed fiercely in his mind.
As one of the twelve High Lords and the Forging General, Kubik had witnessed the "blessing" of the then-Marshal of the Imperial Guard and this Silver Spear Guard a thousand years ago.
"Very well. I guarantee that seven Mind Control Legions and five Guardian Legions will be sent to Terra to support your attack on Battle Moon. At the same time, the Mechanicus will send a Mechanic Ark to transport them and provide powerful fire support."
Kubik added, "You know, if it's just us alone, or just those civilians waging 'jihad,' our warships have almost no chance of winning."
"Let it go this time, but hopefully there won't be a next time." Elpis's voice returned to calm. "Also, how's the progress on the Glorious Queen-class battleships of the Ten Thousand Men Regiment?"
"It's almost finished." Data streams flashed through Kubik's mind again. "Our priest is doing the final assembly for her."
"Speed up, General. Mars' strength is far greater than this slow pace."
"As you wish, sir."

Not long after, at the edge of the solar system, a battered fleet had just broken free from the waves of the warp, its hulls covered with dents left by orcish artillery fire.
Inside the bridge, Kurland, the current commander of the Imperial Fist Corps, stood before the massive observation window, his gaze piercing through the reinforced glass as he looked towards the distant homeworld of humanity.
Now, Terra is just a tiny dot in his eyes.
Kurland, the former second company commander of the Imperial Fist's "Sunwall Company," has the infernal image of Andamantu etched deep in his mind. There, the Imperial Fist Chapter fought against the Chromite Xenomorphs, but was ambushed by the Orcish Warmoon.
The Imperial Fist Chapter was outnumbered and its fleet suffered a devastating blow, with almost all of its troops wiped out. Kurland was the only survivor and was therefore automatically promoted to Chapter Commander.
He pieced together the tragic state of Terra through fragmented information networks.
The orcs' war moon had been stuck in Terra's orbit for a long time, the high lords remained secluded, and millions of civilians had died at the hands of the orcs. All of this filled Kurland with rage.
"Send the identification code to Terra." Kurland took a deep breath and ordered the communications officer beside him, "Inform them that the fleet of 'The Final Wall' has arrived at the edge of the solar system."
The final high wall is a secret agreement and sacred oath left by Primarch Rogue Dorn when the Imperial Fist Legion was broken up.
It requires all sub-legions born from the bloodline of the Seventh Legion to respond to the call of the parent legion when Holy Terra faces the ultimate threat of life and death, to set aside their individual missions, regroup, and once again unite into a unified legion-level force to become the last bulwark protecting Terra.
Now, as the sole survivor of the Mother Group, Kurland has initiated Project Final Wall.
After a period of gathering, they traversed the Imperial territories constantly invaded by the Orks, leading more than 20 warships, approximately 2800 Space Marines, and countless loyal mortal soldiers to the Solar System.
The holographic projection flickered several times on the communication device before finally stabilizing. Elpis's figure appeared in the light, his golden armor resembling that of a god within the communication's glow.
Kurland was startled when he saw the golden-armored warrior in the projection. He hadn't expected that the response to him would be from the legendary Imperial Guard.
"My lord," he straightened his posture, "Crand, Commander of the Imperial Fist, salutes you."
"No need to worry about that, Chapter Master." Elpis nodded slightly. "I think we all share a common goal."
"Yes, sir," Kurland said, "please instruct me on the battle plan."
"Terra will assemble a fleet and warriors, and Mars will also send a fleet. We will gather around the outer edge of the battle moon and destroy these hideous alien creatures together," Elpis declared.
"Understood, my lord! For the Emperor, we stand with Terra." Kurland's voice echoed across the bridge.
After cutting off communications, he turned and walked to the command platform, issuing the order: "Attention all fleets, full speed ahead! Target: outer perimeter of the Orcish Battle Moon."
"For the Emperor! For Dorne!"
