The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 87 Original Body Return
The moment the silvery-white teleportation light completely dissipated, the two soldiers were enveloped in a blinding white light and the smell of disinfectant inside the medical pod.
Vulcan's massive body occupied almost half of the central platform of the medical bay, while Doomsday Tremor leaned against the edge of the platform.
A sharp alarm sounded, and several robotic arms equipped with precision probes extended from the ceiling of the medical pod, rapidly scanning above Vulcan's body.
Another mechanical arm hovered precisely in front of the Primarch, spraying out a large amount of the Panacea that emitted a faint glow. The thick liquid made a slight hissing sound when it came into contact with his flesh.
Vulcan's regenerative ability is indeed astonishing; after treatment with the medicine, the flesh on his surface is rapidly recovering at a speed visible to the naked eye.
However, this core-originating explosion damage appears to have some kind of energy erosion, slowing the healing process and causing persistent, severe pain.
"The core meltdown triggered an energy backlash," Elpis observed the scrolling analysis data on the holographic screen, "which is mixed with the orcs' Waaagh energy, and it's constantly preventing your recovery."
Vulcan, panting heavily and still in pain, still had a calm gaze. "Did the plan succeed?"
"Energy readings have dropped to zero. Geological activity sensors indicate that the volcanic structure is undergoing a chain reaction of collapses due to the violent energy release at its base," Elpis reported, synchronizing the images transmitted back from the warship.
On the planet's surface, centered on the orc fortress, massive cracks spread like a spider web. The tower built in the crater had completely collapsed and was swallowed by the collapsing rocks.
"Well done." Vulcan grinned, as if he wanted to laugh, but the movement aggravated his wound, causing him to wince in pain.
"The danger to Codra has been largely resolved," Elpis said confidently.
Just then, the medical bay door opened, and Kurland strode in, followed by two pharmacists. He had removed his helmet, his face full of worry, but he quickly regained his composure after seeing that Vulcan's condition had stabilized.
"My lords," Kurland saluted and quickly reported, "all assault team members have returned safely, twenty with minor injuries, no casualties. Lord Elpis, your Ranger Squad's Thunderhawk gunboat was shot down, but the crew members were unharmed."
Elpis nodded. After the two plane crashes, he was considering whether he should travel on the same warship as Leon and the others next time.
"The orcs on Cordra are no longer a threat, and the remaining orcs on the surface are losing their organization, falling into infighting and collapse," Kurland continued, "and the orcs' battle moon has also been destroyed in a chain reaction."
It turns out that the Fire Dragon Lord's devastating attack not only destroyed the surface buildings, but also destroyed the Battle Moon that was under construction.
The equipment inside the battle moon that maintains gravitational balance and structural stability was backfired by Waaagh energy, instantly overloaded, and caused a series of explosions, with countless fireballs constantly appearing on the surface of the battle moon.
Finally, after a violent explosion that lasted for about three minutes, the entire battle moon began to collapse inward. Under the influence of gravity, it spun and disintegrated, dragging in nearby orc warships, which were then turned into metallic meteors that crashed onto the surface of Cordra.
On the orbital battlefield, the commander of the Imperial fleet astutely seized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With the order given, the massive Imperial fleet launched a full-speed assault.
Having lost Battle Moon, a crucial logistical hub, and with the death of their orc leader, their morale completely collapsed, and they fell into chaos.
Several standard hours later, Elpis went to the observation window in the command room and looked out at the scene.
On track, the Imperial fleet advanced in neat formation, with occasional bursts of light spears and macro cannons tearing the dilapidated orc ships that tried to escape or put up a last stand to pieces.
The battle moon that was under construction has also disappeared, crashing into the land of Cordra and triggering another massive volcanic eruption.
Thunderhawk gunships continued to take off from the Imperial fleet, sending troops toward the Cordra in preparation for the complete annihilation of the orcs on the planet.
Elpis withdrew his gaze and looked to the other side of the command room.
Commander Claire, Leon, and Chris are catching up together; they are all outstanding warriors from Earth. For Claire, it has been a thousand years since she has seen her brother and friends.
At that moment, the door opened, and the Lord of the Fire Dragons bowed as he entered the command room, heading straight for Elpis. The surrounding guards all knelt on one knee, performing the Imperial Eagle salute, and the Primarch nodded in acknowledgment.
The Primarch's original terrifying injuries had healed, and obsidian-like skin had grown back. At this moment, he was wearing a pale yellow silk robe, which, although a robe, looked like a short garment on the Primarch.
"How are you feeling, Vokan?" Elpis asked, turning to look at the Primarch when he heard the noise.
"Relax." Vulcan stretched. "When I opened my eyes again, my memory was still hazy, but I knew I had to protect this world. Now I have kept my vow to save it from destruction again."
Vulcan took the huge plate from the servant beside him and began to devour the synthetic protein blocks and nutrient pastes at an astonishing speed.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Volkan," Elpis remarked. "The Empire needs you now."
"I will not rule the entire empire; I am merely a craftsman," Vulcan swallowed the last piece of egg white. "As my father said, these belong to mortals. My only purpose is to solve the empire's problems."
"The orcs originated in Ulanor." Elpis handed a data panel labeled with combat information to the Primarch.
"Ulanor?" The Primarch stared at the data panel in his hand, his thoughts drifting to the place where Horus was crowned Warmaster.
"Let's go. Once the threat from Cordra is gone, we'll return to Terra." Vulcan snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Elpis beside him. "I'm also glad to see you again, Elpis."
Several days later, after dealing with all the orcs, the Imperial fleet left the Cordra orbit and began its warp journey in the direction indicated by the starlight.
Commander Kurland had returned to the Abomination. He gazed at the star map, his heart surging with passion, as if he had returned to the days of the Great Crusade.
Kurland knew that the Primarch's return would shake the corrupt Highlord Council, but it might also create new troubles. However, the Empire needed Vulcan and the Primarch's return more than ever.
Elpis remained quietly in the meditation room, the Spear of the Moon resting on his knees, emitting a cold, silvery-white light, while the dark green crystal in his hand emitted a mysterious and soft glow.
On the Unified, Vulcan looked through the porthole at the gradually shrinking Codra and muttered to himself:
"Father, Terra. I'm finally coming home."
