Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 148 Emily's Unhappiness

The three were tied to a tree stump, but their mouths didn't stop talking.

Babaka struggled twice, but the rope didn't budge. He looked down at the knot, then looked up at Wayne.

"What kind of rope is this? Why can't I break free?"

"For church use only."

"Does the church have special ropes?"

"Yes, there are those who bind heretics."

"I'll put one on you when you're on the gallows."

Babaka's mouth closed.

Mimi leaned against the tree stump, her face expressionless. Being tied up didn't seem to be a big deal to her.

Jenny sat next to her, squirming incessantly.

"Could you please stop moving?"

"I feel itchy."

Where does it itch?

"My whole body is itchy."

Mimi ignored him.

The shadows spread silently in the moonlight.

Emily emerged from the shadows, and from top to bottom, the first thing to appear was her feet, bare, her toes touching the stone pavement.

Like a painting being slowly unfolded from bottom to top, appearing completely before the three of them.

Babaka's pupils suddenly shrank to pinpoints.

Jenny almost bit his tongue.

"Ghost... ghost..."

"Shut up."

Emily didn't look at him.

She looked at Wayne, a blush creeping onto her face.

The panel appeared.

[Emily's Current Status]

[Status: Unhappy. Slightly angry. Not the kind of unhappiness that makes you jump up and down in anger, but the kind of unhappiness that comes from "I was enjoying a delicious meal and you overturned my pot."]

[Note: She had clearly felt that unique warmth through her abilities; the goddess had clearly bestowed upon her unparalleled blessings, and she was gradually entering a state of bliss under the night sky. She was just a hair's breadth away, just one last push, one final tremor. Unexpectedly, three foolish thieves disrupted everything.]

[Note 2: Emily is very grateful that you accepted her. She never expected that she could accept you; it's all the best arrangement from the goddess. She's still a little shy. She hopes that one day she can be as open and confident as Dora. She also hopes that one day she can guide Tilulu onto the right path, leading her into the goddess's embrace.]

Emily walked over to Wayne and glanced at the three bound, foolish thieves.

"Mr. Wayne, who are they?"

"The bounty hunter who came to capture me and bring me back to the capital."

Wayne's tone was very natural.

Emily frowned, turned back to look at Wayne, and sized him up from head to toe, and then from toe to head.

Are you injured?

"no."

Emily breathed a sigh of relief, her expression softening somewhat. She took a half-step forward, stood on tiptoe, and leaned close to Wayne's ear.

Her voice was very low.

"Should I dispose of their bodies and cover my tracks?"

Babaka's ears perked up.

"Hey! I heard you!" His voice rose a half-octave, and he twisted and turned on the tree stump. "You can't play like this! We're here to arrest people, to arrest people! Not to kill them! Is this really necessary?"

Emily stepped away from Wayne's ear, turned around, and faced Babacar. She puffed out her chest, which, though not large, still projected an air of righteous indignation.

"Why not? You ruined my plans, shouldn't you be punished accordingly?"

Babaka was completely dumbfounded.

His mouth was open, his eyes rolled around in their sockets several times, his lips trembled a couple of times, and he managed to squeeze out a few words.

"Damage your plans? When did we ruin your plans? You can't just accuse someone like that!"

Emily's face flushed slightly.

She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but then thought that explaining what "good things" meant to these three stupid thieves would be a stupid thing to do.

"You guys are just bad," she said.

"We don't."

"You have them."

"We don't!"

"You have them!"

Babaka shut his mouth.

He realized he really had something wrong with his head; he was actually trying to reason with a woman.

Jenny sat on the tree stump beside them, not saying a word the entire time. His gaze darted back and forth between Emily and Wayne, like a dog that had caught the smell of meat.

The corners of his mouth slowly turned up.

"I understand."

Babaka turned to look at him.

"What do you know?"

Jenny did not answer.

He looked at Emily, and the corners of his mouth curved into a wider smile.

"Miss, the 'good thing' you're talking about, you don't mean that kind of 'good thing,' do you?"

Emily's face flushed crimson. The blush started from her neck and spread all the way to her ears, clearly visible in the moonlight.

Jenny nodded.

"I understand. I completely understand."

Babaka still didn't understand.

He looked at Jenny, then at Emily, then at Wayne, his face full of confusion.

"What exactly is going on? Can't you speak like human beings?"

Jenny sighed.

"Boss, now I finally understand how your three ex-wives ran off with other men."

Babaka's expression changed.

"What did you say?"

"It's nothing." Jenny looked away and gazed at the moon in the sky. "The moon is really round tonight."

Babaka wanted to punch him.

But he was tied to a tree stump and couldn't reach it.

Emily stood next to Wayne, her face still flushed.

"gentlemen."

"Um."

"What do you plan to do with these three stupid thieves?"

Wayne thought for a moment.

"Keep it locked for now."

"Where are you locked up?"

Wayne looked around the yard.

There are several empty rooms in the backyard, which used to be used to store miscellaneous items.

After Mayfair left, a room was cleaned out, but they hadn't decided what to use it for yet.

"Storage room".

Babacar's face fell.

"The storeroom? We're bounty hunters! From the Northern Continent! Rank B! And you're locking us up in the storeroom?"

"How about we lock it in the cellar? It'll be cooler there."

Babaka shut his mouth.

Emily stood to the side and watched Wayne turn and walk toward the storeroom. She followed him for two steps, then stopped.

"gentlemen."

"Um."

"I...I'll go back now."

Wayne turned to look at her.

"Okay. Be careful on the road."

Emily nodded, turned around, and her figure blended into the shadows in the corner, fading slowly from her feet up, like a painting being slowly rolled up from bottom to top and disappearing into the moonlight.

Babaka stared wide-eyed in the direction she had disappeared.

"Is this...is it a human or a ghost?"

Jenny sighed.

"Boss, it's no wonder your three ex-wives ran away."

"If you mention my ex-wife again, I'll bite you."

"Can you even bite it?"

Babaka glanced down at the rope binding him, then looked up at Jenny, and shut his mouth.

The storage room has been tidied up.

Wayne spread the last straw mat on the ground, took two steps back, and looked around. Three walls, one window, a layer of dust on the windowsill. That was enough; it could easily hold three people.

Babacar was still cursing when he was pushed in.

"What kind of priest are you? Arresting people, kidnapping people, imprisoning people, you're even more ruthless than us bounty hunters."

Wayne ignored him and turned to Jenny.

"Go in."

Jenny cooperated. He went into the storage room by himself, squatted down in the corner, hugged his knees with his hands, and stood obediently like a student being punished.

Mimi was at the back.

Her steps were slow, but steady.

Wayne reached out to stop her.

"Wait a moment."

Mimi stopped walking.

Wayne pulled a small porcelain bottle from his waist. The bottle was brown, about the size of a thumb, and sealed with wax. He untied the wax seal, removed the cork, and walked over to Mimi Noodles.

Open your mouth.

Mimi didn't move.

Babaka rushed out of the storage room, tripped over a rope, and stumbled a couple of steps before regaining his balance.

He stood in front of Mimi Noodles.

"What are you trying to do? Let me tell you! We may be bounty hunters, but we have our bottom line! We don't do murder or arson! We certainly don't force women into prostitution! What do you want to do to her? Come at me if you have a problem with that!"
