Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 151 Hena's Certainty
Before leaving the hotel, Wilford stopped and turned back to shout to the guards behind him.
"Disarm everyone!"
The guards were taken aback.
Griffin, standing at the front with his spear in hand, turned to look at Wilford upon hearing this.
"Mayor, shall we surrender everything?"
"Take it all." Wilford's tone left no room for argument. "Leave nothing behind. Knives, swords, daggers, hidden weapons—anything that can kill, take it all."
Griffin swallowed.
He glanced at the swords on the paladins' backs, then at the short knives on the waists of the traffickers, and then at the crossbows hidden under the carriage.
"Yes."
He led his men to begin disarming them.
Lancelot did not resist, but took his sword from his waist and handed it to the guard.
Gregory did as he was told.
The other paladins handed over their weapons in turn.
The women seemed somewhat reluctant; several of them kept their hands on the hilts of their knives, their eyes filled with hostility. But a soft cough came from the front, and they immediately released their grip.
Short knives, daggers, and crossbows were handed over one by one and piled on the steps at the entrance of the inn.
Wilford glanced at the pile of weapons and nodded in satisfaction.
Then he turned around and followed Hena.
Hena walked ahead, carrying the cat, at a moderate pace.
She didn't turn around; her voice drifted from ahead.
"Mayor, you are very cautious."
"It's better to be cautious." Wilford followed half a step behind her. "Frosttown may be small, but we can't just let any Tom, Dick, or Harry into it."
The black cat in my arms twitched its ears.
Hena gently stroked the cat's back with her fingers twice.
"You're right."
Hena walked ahead carrying the cat, Wilford followed behind, and then Lancelot and several paladins.
The procession wasn't long, but it was quite impressive.
Pedestrians on the street quickly moved to both sides, craning their necks to look and whispering among themselves.
"Isn't that the town mayor?"
"Yeah, why bring so many people?"
"I heard a group of people came to the hotel at the foot of Dongshan Mountain, and the town mayor personally went to arrest them."
"Why send someone to the church after they've been arrested?"
"Who knows?"
Hena ignored the surrounding chatter.
The church, and the backyard storage room.
Babaka leaned against the wall with his legs stretched out, his neck tilted, his head resting on the wall, his mouth slightly open, and drool dripping down the corner of his mouth.
Jenny squatted in the corner, hugging his knees, and listlessly drew circles on the ground with his toes.
The door opened.
Mimi walked in carrying a tray.
On the tray were two bowls of porridge, two pieces of black bread, and a small dish of pickled vegetables.
Babaka's nose twitched twice.
He suddenly opened his eyes.
"meal!"
He sprang up from the ground and rushed to the rice noodle shop, reaching out to grab the bowl.
Mimi took half a step back.
"handwashing."
Babaka's hand froze in mid-air.
"Why wash your hands? I'm starving!"
"No food if it's not washed."
Babaka looked at his hands, then at the bowl of porridge, and then at Mimi's expressionless face.
He accepted his fate.
"Where is the water?"
Mimi gestured towards the door with her lips.
Babaka dragged his shackles out, rubbed them haphazardly by the well in the yard, and ran back, shaking off the water droplets.
"Is that enough?"
"OK."
Mimi handed him the tray.
Babaka squatted back against the wall with his bowl of porridge and started slurping it down.
Jenny didn't move.
He squatted in the corner, staring at Mimi, looking her up and down, his gaze sweeping over her several times. His expression changed from expectation to disappointment, and then from disappointment to a faint disdain.
Mimi noticed.
"What are you looking at?"
Jenny sighed.
"Mimi".
"Um."
"You last night..."
"no."
Jenny's words were cut off.
His lips twitched.
"I haven't asked yet."
"No need to ask, there isn't."
Jenny remained silent.
He held the bowl of porridge, poked at the pickled vegetables in the bowl with his chopsticks several times, and then looked up.
"Really not?"
"no."
Not even a little?
Not at all.
Jenny's chopsticks stopped in mid-air.
His expression was complex. It was hard to tell whether it was disappointment, relief, or both.
He looked Mimi up and down again, and his final conclusion was: Mimi's chest was too flat, definitely not his type. Besides, although her buttocks were perky, he couldn't see them clearly through the maid's skirt.
"What is that, Mimi."
"Um."
"Could you please put in a good word with the bishop? Don't keep us locked up here forever." Jenny's tone was ingratiating. "Look, Boss Babacar is practically covered in hair."
Babaka raised his head.
"You're the one who's grown hair."
"Look at the hair on your arms, how long it is."
Babaka looked down at his arm, then looked up at Jenny.
"That's manliness."
"It smells musty."
Babaka slammed the bowl of porridge on the ground, wanting to curse, but when he saw Mimi standing at the door, he swallowed his words.
"Mimi," Jenny continued pleading, "please put in a good word for us. We're really not bad people. We're just doing a job for money, and if we can't do it, we'll just give you your money back. Do you think we'd risk our lives for two thousand gold coins?"
Mimi looked at him.
"It's not up to me to decide."
"Then who decides?"
"Bishop Wayne."
Jenny opened his mouth, then closed it again.
He knew, of course, that Wayne was in charge. But the problem was that Wayne ignored him. Since he was locked up last night, Wayne had only come once, and even then, he just stood at the door, glanced at him, and left.
He didn't even say a word.
Mimi turned and walked away with the empty tray.
Jenny shouted from behind.
"Mimi! Mimi, don't go! Please help us talk to them again! If they stay locked up any longer, they'll really grow mold! Mimi..."
Mimi didn't stop walking.
She walked through the corridor and turned into the backyard.
the other side.
The church doors were open.
Thomason was standing at the door when he saw Wilford leading a group of people toward him, so he quickly turned around and ran inside.
"My lord! My lord!"
Wayne had just finished eating and was wiping his mouth in the front hall.
"What is it?"
"The mayor is here!"
Wayne draped the towels over the rack.
"one person?"
"No," Thomason gasped. "He brought a lot of people. There was also a woman, wearing a purple dress, holding a cat."
Wayne paused for a moment.
The panel popped up.
[Hena - Current Itinerary]
[Status: Arrived in Frosttown, on the way to the church. Accompanying persons: Lilith (possessed by the black cat), Wilford, Lancelot, Gregory, and several paladins.]
[Note: Lilith is dismissive of you. She saw you before in Audrian; back then you were just an ordinary priest, at most using some potions to treat people's illnesses. She doesn't think this time will be any different. She didn't come with any expectations.]
[Note 2: Hena inwardly scoffed at Wilford. A mere mortal mayor, wielding a short sword and leading a few dozen guards, thought he could stop a demon? Ridiculous. But she didn't act, not out of fear, but because it was unnecessary. Her goal was the church, not murder. Besides, Wilford was still useful.]
[Note 3: Hena was certain Lilith would become obsessed. Not "maybe," but "definitely." She had witnessed the power of water magic, which Lilith hadn't. She even felt that Lilith's reaction would be more exaggerated than she anticipated. Perhaps there would be even better effects, like... well, we'll see.]
After looking at the panel, Wayne remained silent for a couple of moments.
He turned around and walked toward the church's foyer.
"Sir, should we close the door?" Thomason called from behind.
"Need not."
"Shall I go and call Miss Ella and Miss Emma?"
"No need."
Thomason stood there, scratching his head.
He didn't know why Wayne was so calm, but since the people in charge weren't in a hurry, why should a mere doorman like him be anxious?
Wayne walked toward the church foyer.
Footsteps came from outside the door.
The sound of many people's footsteps.
