Wayne walked straight to the door.

A group of people were standing outside the door.

Wilford was at the front, wearing leather armor and an iron helmet. He had drawn his short sword and held it in his hand with the tip pointing downwards, looking somewhat like a town mayor.

He saw Wayne.

A smile immediately appeared on his face.

"Bishop Wayne!"

"Mayor."

Wilford rushed over to Wayne, lowered his voice, and spoke quickly: "A caravan has come to town, led by a woman carrying a black cat. Something about her looks off. She says she's a believer and wants to visit you. I wasn't comfortable with her, so I brought her along. If there's nothing wrong, I'll let her go. If there is, just say the word, and I'll arrest her immediately."

Wayne didn't speak, his gaze fixed on what was behind him.

Hena stood at the bottom of the steps.

She wore a deep purple dress, her three braids draped over her shoulders, and she held a black cat in her arms. The cat's eyes were green, squinting into slits in the sunlight, and it lazily yawned.

A confident smile graced her face.

Wayne glanced at her for two breaths.

Then he laughed.

"No problem, this lady is an old friend of mine."

Wilford paused for a moment.

"An old friend?"

"Yes." Wayne nodded, his tone natural. "I met her in Audrian. She was... a very devout believer."

Wilford opened his mouth, then closed it again.

He turned to look at Hena, then at Wayne.

Are you sure?

"Sure."

Wilford was silent for a few moments, then let out a long breath, as if a heavy burden had been lifted. His shoulders relaxed, his hand on the hilt of his short sword loosened, and the expression on his face changed from wary to embarrassed.

"I see. Then... I was overthinking it."

"You did a great job." Wayne patted him on the shoulder. "Frosttown is blessed to have a mayor like you."

Wilford's lips curled up.

"And these people..."

"Leave it to me."

"Good. Good." Wilford said "good" twice, then turned and walked down the steps. He walked up to Hena, paused for a moment, and finally said nothing, just nodded, then waved to the guards behind him.

"Fall back!"

The others followed behind, and the group quickly dispersed.

Wilford took a few steps, then looked back again.

Wayne stood in the doorway, sunlight streaming in from the church, casting a halo behind him. Hena stood below the steps, holding a cat, looking up at him.

Wilford felt something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

He shook his head and left.

Only Hena, a few paladins, and the women who had followed Shurasha remained at the bottom of the steps.

Hena looked up at Wayne.

Wayne looked at her too.

"Long time no see, Miss."

"It's been a long time, Father."

Hena's voice wasn't loud either, but it carried a natural familiarity, like two old friends who had known each other for many years bumping into each other on the street.

Lance stood behind Hena, his gaze darting back and forth between Wayne and Hena. His expression remained unchanged, but his mind was in turmoil.

haven't seen you for a long time?

Father?

old friend?

Lance's pupils contracted slightly.

He quickly lowered his head, his mind racing.

Hena was a demon, a high-ranking demon possessing Shurasha. He knew this perfectly well, because his freedom had been obtained through a demonic contract.

Wayne knows Hena.

Hena came to Frosttown, saying she wanted to pay homage to Vayne.

What is the relationship between them?

Lance's fingers unconsciously clenched.

He suddenly thought of a possibility: if Wayne and Hena had been in contact all along, then the Vatican sent them out to capture Wayne, and Hena "just happened" to appear at their summons and "just happened" to rescue them from the ambush by the Shurasha gang. Could all of this have been arranged?

A layer of cold sweat broke out on his back.

If that's true, then this Bishop Wayne is terrifying. He not only colludes with demons, but he can also command high-ranking demons to work for him. The seven paladins sent by the Holy See were "recruited" by demons before they even saw their target. They went from hunters to prey, from pursuers to pawns, and Wayne didn't even need to lift a finger.

Lance lowered his head even further.

He dared not think or say anything. All he could do now was stand there and pretend he was just an ordinary servant.

Wayne's gaze shifted from Hena's face to the cat in her arms. The cat was black with glossy fur, its four legs dangling, its body draped over Hena's forearm like a scarf.

Wayne withdrew his gaze and looked back at Hena.

"Miss Hena, what brings you to Frost Town to see me?"

Hena's smile remained unchanged, but her tone became more solemn. She lowered her head slightly, her posture as devout as any believer entering a church.

"I beg for the Goddess's forgiveness and grace."

Wayne looked at her.

"that's all?"

"That's it." Hena raised her head. "I heard about the Father's deeds when I was in the Northern Continent. Healing witches, taking in refugees, and protecting the entire town during the demonic tide. You are a true saint."

She paused, then pulled the cat closer to her chest.

"I came to Frosttown to see you with my own eyes and feel your divine grace. If possible, I hope to pray in your church for a few days to cleanse my sins."

The cat in her arms suddenly meowed.

"Meow~"

The tone was high, carrying a clear sense of dissatisfaction.

Wayne looked at the black cat.

"Miss Lilith, it's been a long time."

The black cat's body suddenly froze.

The cat's four legs, which had been drooping, straightened instantly, its tail bristled, and it bounced up from Hena's arms.

Hena raised her eyebrows slightly.

"Do you know her?"

Wayne's tone was calm.

"I've seen her before when I was in Audrey. She was squatting on the wall opposite the church, and I saw her every day when I went out."

Hena said.

"I mean, how did you know her name?"

Wayne laughed.

"This is all the will of the goddess."

Lilith - Demon of Desire - Current Status

[Status: Highly alert, slightly surprised. She didn't expect you to know her real name. This name has been sealed for hundreds of years, known to no more than ten people, all of whom are high-ranking officials of the Holy See. You, a mere border priest, shouldn't know this name.]

[Note: She smelled the scent of unripe apples on you. You'd even go after unripe apples? You truly are an evil priest. Or is this some kind of tradition of Father Wiggins?]

[Note 2: She intends to kill all bystanders who hear her true name, including you. Not because she's bloodthirsty, but because her true name represents a contract. Theoretically, those who know her true name can form a contract with her, or they can reseal her. She doesn't want to be sealed again. Not even for a year.]

Hena lowered her head, looked at the black cat with its fur standing on end at her feet, and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

"Lilith".

The black cat did not respond.

"Relax," Hena's voice was soft, almost like coaxing a child. "He said the goddess told him. Isn't it normal for the goddess to tell him your real name? You're a demon, and the goddess knows all the demons' names."

Lilith's tail stiffened for a moment.

She hesitated.

Hena makes a good point. It's common knowledge that the goddess knows the names of all demons. It's perfectly plausible that a priest would receive a revelation from the goddess that a cat is possessed by a demon and know the demon's name.

Hena smiled slightly as she watched Lilith deep in thought.

"Father, please don't mind her. Lilith is timid and hasn't seen much of the world."

Lilith snapped her ears back and turned to look at Hena. Her gaze was clear: You're the coward, your whole family are cowards.

Hena pretended not to see it.

Wayne stepped aside from the doorway.

"Please come in."
