A few tears welled up in Martha's eyes.

"Father...please spare me...I'll do anything...I'll be your slave...serving tea and water...washing clothes and cooking...I'll do whatever you say..."

Wayne didn't say anything.

Martha thought he was hesitating.

"Look at these old bones of mine... You won't gain anything by killing me... Keeping me alive still has some use..."

The panel popped up at this point.

【Masara - Current Status】

[True Intent: Her plea for mercy is fake. She's waiting for you to lower your guard. Hidden in her sleeve is a poisoned silver needle, its tip coated with "Nightmare Breath," capable of paralyzing the entire body within three breaths and rendering the victim unconscious within six. The poisoned prey won't even have a chance to cry for help.]

[Past record: She's used this trick three times. The first time was against a passing merchant, the second against a missionary from the Church of St. Hilde, and the third against a bounty hunter trying to capture her. Each time, she first feigned weakness, begged for mercy, and shed tears, waiting for her opponent to lower their guard before delivering a fatal needle.]

[Note: She thought you were that kind of saintly priest. In her eyes, all priests are the same, always talking about mercy, forgiveness, and giving chances. She killed that St. Hilde missionary in the same way.]

[Note 2: She didn't know you had the panel. She didn't know you could see the needle in her sleeve. She also didn't know that from the moment she began to "shed tears," her death was already sealed.]

Wayne turned his gaze away from the panel.

He watched as Martha continued to weep bitterly.

"Are you finished speaking?"

Martha paused for a moment.

"Father, I..."

Wayne's hand tightened suddenly.

Click.

The sound of bones breaking rang out.

Martha's eyes were wide open, and a last trace of confusion remained in her cloudy yellow pupils.

She didn't know why.

The person who was "hesitating" just a second ago.

The next second, he delivered the fatal blow.

She opened her mouth as if to say something, but only a muffled breath escaped her throat.

Wayne released his grip.

"The goddess just said you deserve to die."

Martha remained completely still.

Emma peeked out from behind Wayne, her gaze falling on the limp body on the ground.

"Master, is she dead?"

"He's dead."

Emma looked down again.

This time she looked at it more carefully.

Ella spoke up first.

"The master only killed those who deserved to die."

"Yes, you're right, sister!"

Emma's face was pressed against Ella's shoulder.

"Sister, am I really useless? When she controlled you all just now, I couldn't do anything. I couldn't even move my hands, I couldn't even use magic. I could only watch."

Ella gently patted her back.

"It's not your fault. She's a fourth-tier witch. You're only a first-tier one."

"Then, when will I be able to reach the fourth tier?"

Ella paused for a moment.

"soon."

Lillian came up from behind.

Her hand was wrapped in bandages; it was from a cut caused by rubble during the battle with the Rock Demon. The bleeding had stopped, but a faint red rim was still seeping through the bandages.

Her face was expressionless; she simply looked down at Martha for a long while.

"I never expected there would be a fourth-tier witch here."

Wayne pulled a handkerchief from his sleeve and wiped the dust off his hands.

"What a pity."

"What's a pity?"

"Unfortunately, she chose a dead end."

Wayne folded the handkerchief and tucked it into his sleeve.

"I originally planned to leave immediately after Lillian killed the Rock Demon and completed the mission. But she insisted on seeing me off."

Lillian was surprised.

"Mr. Wayne, you knew all along that there was something else in the cave, didn't you?"

"I know a little bit."

"How much is 'a little bit'?"

"Enough."

Lillian turned her gaze to Wayne.

"Next, we..."

"etc."

Wayne interrupted her.

He turned around and walked towards the mine.

Less than two minutes.

Wayne emerged from the cave entrance.

He now had something extra in his hand.

A blade of grass.

It is entirely white, with translucent leaves and clearly visible veins, like a work of art sculpted from ice. At the top of the stem grows a rice-grain-sized fruit, also white, emitting a faint chill.

The chill spread from the blades of grass, condensing into tiny ice crystals in the air, which then fluttered down.

Lillian's eyes widened suddenly.

"Frost, Frostmoon Grass?!"

Wayne held the Frostmoon Grass up to his eyes and looked at it. The chill on the leaves condensed into a thin layer of white frost on his fingertips.

"This herb will be useful for Ella's promotion."

Lillian's gaze was fixed on the Frostmoon Grass. Her mouth opened and closed several times before she finally managed to squeeze out, "A fourth-tier medicinal herb... I've never seen one like it in my entire life!"

Ella walked up to Wayne.

Wayne handed the Frostmoon Grass to her.

"This herb is incredibly effective for the advancement of ice-type witches. When we get back, I'll refine it into a potion for you."

Ella raised her hand and touched it.

"Master, is this... for me?"

"Um."

Emma hopped over from behind, peeked at Frostmoon Grass, then at Ella, and grabbed Ella's sleeve with both hands.

"Is my sister getting a promotion?"

"It's still early." Wayne put the Frostmoon Grass into his sleeve. "This one isn't enough; we need to add a few other herbs. We'll talk about it when we get back."

He turned around and glanced at the three of them.

"As for you, I will try to find suitable potions for you when I have the chance."

Lillian's eyes lit up.

"Mr. Wayne, are you telling the truth?"

"When have I ever lied to you?"

Lillian's lips curled into a grin.

Emma ran back and grabbed Wayne's sleeve, shaking it.

"Master, I want one too! I want one too!"

"You'll get your share."

In the open space in front of the mine, Lillian raised her hand, and a ball of flame flew from her palm, landing on Marshall's corpse.

A raging fire broke out.

Lillian put her hands down.

"Let's go."

The four people turned around and walked back the way they came.

The woods were much quieter now.

The tree people have disappeared.

They didn't just hide; they really disappeared. The spot where the tree people used to stand was now just a series of fresh pits, with broken branches and crushed bark scattered around them, as if something had passed by and uprooted them as they entered the cave.

Lillian glanced at the pits.

"The tree people have all run away."

"Um."

The four people walked out of the woods and onto the ridge of the field.

Mosa Village is just ahead.

A person was standing under the old tree at the entrance of the village.

Old Lute.

He leaned on his cane, craning his neck to look this way, his hand resting on his brow. When he saw Wayne walk down from the edge of the field, he straightened up abruptly and slammed his cane on the ground.

"Your Majesty Bishop!"

Wayne stepped forward.

"Village Chief Lute."

Old Lute's gaze swept over him, then looked at the three people behind him. Their clothes were dusty and their faces were sweaty, but no one was injured.

"Your Excellency, that rock demon..."

"He's dead."

Old Lute immediately knelt down.

"Your Excellency Bishop...you are the benefactor of our Mosa village..." he said, his voice trembling with tears.

The villagers came out of their houses one after another and stood by the roadside. Men, women, the elderly, and children all knelt down, just like the old village chief.

"Thank you, Your Excellency!"

"It was His Excellency the Bishop who saved Mosa Village!"

"Long live the Bishop!"

……

Soon, Amu squeezed out from behind the crowd.

He ran to old Root's side and helped the old village chief up. Then he looked up at Wayne.

"Your Excellency, are you alright?"

"fine."

A smile bloomed on Amu's face.

"I knew His Excellency the Bishop would be alright!"

Wayne looked at Amu.

"Don't you have a sick younger sister? I'll treat her since I'm on my way here."

Amu was instantly overjoyed.

"Really? Your Excellency!"

"Um."

"Great! My sister is saved!"
