Wayne stood in the open space in front of the hotel.

He looked down at the people who were tied up.

The panel flashed incessantly before his eyes, and lines of information flowed by like water, presenting the name, identity, past, and sins of each captured member of St. Hilde.

It took him less than 15 minutes.

"Wilford."

"exist."

"Pick out these people and lock them up separately." Wayne read out ten names, the last one landing on Greaves. "List of sins, judgment of the goddess. The rest, keep them locked up for now, awaiting further orders."

Wilford noted them down, then turned and waved to the guards. Ten men were dragged out of the crowd, bound hand and foot, and taken in different directions.

Wayne patted Wilford on the shoulder.

"I need to go back to the church to check on the injured. The rest is up to you."

Wilford straightened his chest and pressed his right fist against his chest.

"Don't worry, sir, I will handle it well."

Wayne nodded and turned to walk out of the crowd.

Babaka stood there, watching Wayne's figure disappear into the crowd, then glanced at Wilford.

"Mayor, do you need our help?"

Wilford waved his hand.

"You should go with the bishop; the church needs more people."

Babaka thought for a moment, nodded, and pulled Jenny along as they chased after Wayne in the direction he had left.

Christina stood still.

Her gaze swept across Wilford's face.

"Mayor, the members of the religious order have already gone back."

Wilford nodded quickly.

"Thank you for your hard work today."

After Wayne left.

The noise from the crowd never stopped.

"I never imagined that St. Hilde would be this kind of person."

"Serves you right."

Damn it.

"Burn them! Burn them!"

Someone shouted.

Wilford turned around and pressed his hands down.

"Gentlemen! Gentlemen!"

The shouting subsided somewhat, but did not stop completely.

"His Excellency the Bishop will handle this matter. Everyone, please disperse. Those who need to go home should go home, and those who need to rest should rest. There will be an announcement from the church tomorrow morning."

The crowd stirred for a while but did not disperse.

Wilford's voice rose another half octave.

"Listen up, everyone. His Holiness the Bishop has said that no one who has committed heinous crimes will escape justice. But this matter must be handled according to procedure; it cannot be done haphazardly. You may feel good about burning people now, but what about those who were wrongly accused? What about those accomplices? What about those whose crimes did not warrant death? Will they be burned as well?"

The crowd fell silent for a moment.

Wilford struck while the iron was hot.

"His Holiness the Bishop said, the innocent will remain innocent, and the guilty will remain guilty. The Goddess keeps a record of everything everyone has done. Those who should be killed will be killed, those who should be imprisoned will be imprisoned, and those who should be released will be released. Nothing will be missed."

He paused.

"But all of this has to be done according to the rules."

Some people in the crowd nodded.

"The mayor is right."

"We must not wrong innocent people."

"We must not let the bad guys get away with it."

Wilford breathed a sigh of relief.

On the other side, on the way down the mountain.

Mimi followed behind Wayne and couldn't help but speak up.

"grown ups."

"Um."

"You... you deliberately spared Andrei's life just now, didn't you?"

Wayne paused for a moment, then continued walking.

Why do you say that?

"Because you could have killed him." Mimi's voice wasn't loud, but it was exceptionally clear in the quiet night. "At the inn entrance, when you broke his Goddess Embrace, when his mind was corrupted by water magic, when his body lost control, you had every opportunity to kill him."

She paused.

"But you didn't."

Wayne didn't say anything.

Mimi glanced at him; his profile was clearly defined in the moonlight, but his emotions were unreadable.

"Sir, you didn't kill him because he was unaware of the situation?"

Wayne smiled.

"Maybe."

The group soon returned to the church.

Push open the church door.

He had just stepped across the threshold.

Two figures rushed out of the corridor.

One is light red, and the other is light blue.

Like two shooting stars, one on the left and one on the right, they crashed into his arms at the same time.

Emma hugged his waist and buried her face in his chest.

"Master! You're finally back!"

Wayne looked at the two little ones and patted their heads.

"Why are you back?"

"It was Sister Emily who brought us back."

Emma looked up, her eyes red-rimmed.

"Master, you haven't come to see me these past few days. We've been waiting on the mountain for so long, it feels like years have passed."

"Only three days."

"Three days feels like such a long time." Emma buried her face in his chest again. "I miss my master."

Ella lifted her head from Wayne's shoulder and looked at him.

"Master, I miss you too."

The panel popped up at this point.

Emma's Current Status

[Status: Extreme longing, resolved. Ever since Emily took her up the mountain yesterday, her emotions have been unstable. It wasn't fear, it wasn't worry, it was simply "longing." She had never been separated from her master for so long. From the day Wayne rescued her from the slave market, she could see her master every single day. She could see him in the morning, at noon, at night, before going to sleep, and the first thing she saw when she woke up was her master. Suddenly one day she couldn't see him anymore, and she felt completely lost.]

[Note: Ella was in slightly better shape than her. It wasn't that she didn't want to, but that she could endure it. Since learning to be grateful to the goddess, she had discovered that she had grown a lot. But the moment she saw Wayne, all her restraint shattered, and the throbbing in her heart intensified.]

Wayne looked away and put his arm around the two sisters' shoulders.

"Let's go inside and talk."

Emma looked up.

"Master, can we sleep in your room tonight?"

"Can."

Emma's lips curled into a smile.

"Master is the best."

Wayne released the two sisters and went inside.

Eight or nine people were lying on the pews in the church's front hall, covered with old blankets that Vera had found in the storeroom.

"grown ups."

"How is the situation?"

Vera dried her hands with a towel and stood up.

"They've all vomited, and most of the potion residue has been cleared. A few were too weak and passed out after vomiting. I fed them the potions you prepared beforehand, and they look better now than when they were first delivered."

Wayne nodded, his gaze sweeping over the faces on the bench.

Then he saw it.

On the innermost bench, a small figure was curled up, her eyes were numb, completely devoid of light.

It's Aya!

The genius girl he met in Mosa Village before.

Vera followed his gaze.

"Sir, do you know this child?"

Emma peeked out from behind Wayne: "Master, she's the little girl we saw in Mosa Village last time."

She paused, her voice muffled.

"Her brother...is dead."

Wayne turned his head.

"What?"

Ella stepped forward to explain.

"Her brother was killed by a fighting priest from St. Hilde. When the priest went to Mosa village to arrest people, Amu stood in front of Aya, preventing them from taking Aya away. The priest then struck him on the head with the hilt of his sword. Once wasn't enough, so he struck him again. Two strikes, and he was gone."

Wayne's heart skipped a beat when he heard this.

He clenched his fists again.

Damn it, those people really deserve to die.
