People around them were talking about it.

"This is terrible, they've completely gone mad."

"Or is the bishop's family playing dirty tricks?"

Ella looked at Wayne: "Master, is it really like my sister said, that person is insane?"

Wayne smiled.

"Perhaps the goddess gave him some inspiration."

The captain of his guards frowned deeply. "But young master, he stabbed you several times just now. We saw it with our own eyes."

"I know."

Ben's tone was surprisingly calm.

"He stabbed me. But that's what I owe him."

The captain was stunned.

The guards around were also stunned.

The captain continued, "This is a private matter between us brothers, and it has nothing to do with your guards. Have your men leave. If any problems arise, I will personally explain to my father."

The captain opened his mouth, as if to say something, but ultimately remained silent. He was one of Bishop Freddy's men and naturally knew Ben's standing in the bishop's eyes. Since Ben himself wasn't pursuing the matter, there was no need for him, a mere servant, to interfere.

He waved to the guard beside him.

Release them.

The two guards released Cavens' shoulders.

Cavens got up from the ground

He didn't struggle or try to escape; he just stood there, his gaze towards Ben filled with undisguised hatred.

"Ben, stop pretending here."

"Kill me or torture me, hurry up. I only regret one thing: not stabbing you straight in the heart."

Standing there, staring at Cavens's tear- and blood-stained face, he remained silent for a long while before slowly speaking: "...You're right. You really should have stabbed him in the heart."

Cavens was stunned.

He had anticipated many of Ben's reactions. Enrage, retaliation, ordering the guards to drag him away and lock him in the dungeon on the spot—all of these were within his expectations. But he never expected Ben to say, "You're right."

He offered no explanation, nor did he attempt to approach him. He stood there, his tone calm: "You hate me, I know. I know what I've done to you all these years. Every stab you just gave me, I didn't do it unjustly."

Ben continued, "I know I've wronged you a lot over the years, but I'll make it up to you in the future."

Cavens felt nauseous and took a half step back, his eyes filled with undisguised disgust: "Make amends? What will you use to make amends? You think you can erase the past with a few nice words?"

Ben opened his mouth, about to answer, when a commotion arose from the outer edge of the crowd. A dense sound of footsteps approached, and the crowd seemed to be parted by an invisible force, creating a passage.

Freddy, dressed in a deep red bishop's robe, walked calmly out of the crowd, her voice carrying a heavy, oppressive quality.

"What happened?"

Ben spoke up first: "It's nothing, Father. It was just a bit of playful banter between brothers, which went a little too far."

Freddy didn't respond immediately. He glanced at Ben and then turned his gaze to Cavens.

Cavens gritted his teeth and remained silent.

Freddy looked away. "Since it was a misunderstanding, let's leave it at that. We can talk about it when we get home."

Freddy's gaze fell on Wayne, and his expression shifted from the indifference he showed towards his two sons back to his signature gentle smile.

"I'm sorry to have made you laugh, young Wayne. My family affairs are in turmoil, and you've witnessed quite a spectacle."

Wayne returned the greeting politely, saying, "Bishop Freddy, you flatter me. Every family has its own troubles, and it's already a good thing that the conflict between the two young masters was resolved peacefully."

Freddy nodded, not delving deeper into the topic: "Since it's a misunderstanding, let's not keep you any longer, young Wayne. The day after tomorrow is the day of the Goddess's judgment, so I hope you'll prepare well, young Wayne."

"Thank you for your concern, Your Excellency. I will be there on time."

Freddy didn't say anything more, waved slightly to his entourage behind him, and turned to walk towards the church.

On the other side, Ben also noticed Wayne.

In his past life, he had never seen the name Wayne on any of the important lists of the Vatican.

The only time he heard the name was in his father's study, in a secret letter from the capital that mentioned, "The son of the Marquis of Lynch was given away to be raised by others in his early years."

That was all.

In his previous life, this so-called "son of the Marquis of Lynch" had never caused any trouble within the Papacy. So why was this person standing here now? Why was he appearing in Bellinor as the Bishop of Frosttown? And why was he able to get his usually arrogant father, Freddy, to speak in a tone that was both polite and wary?

Ben's throat moved.

Wayne felt that gaze, turned his head, and met Ben's eyes.

He didn't speak, but glanced at Ben, then looked away and tilted his head towards Ella and Emma: "Let's go, let's continue shopping."

Emma quickly caught up, glancing back furtively at Ben, who was still standing there in a daze, and asked Wayne in a low voice, "Master, why is that person staring at you? Did he get his brain damaged just now?"

Wayne did not turn around.

"Maybe."

Ben watched Wayne and the three girls turn and leave, then stood there in silence for a long time.

Ben's head suddenly sank.

It felt like something exploded in my head.

Information about Wayne flooded his mind.

A thought uncontrollably surfaced in my mind.

"...He was reborn too?"

He muttered something to himself.

"...No, that's impossible."

Freddy's voice came from the side: "What's wrong?"

Ben's face had already regained its proper smile: "It's alright, Father. I lost a lot of blood earlier, and I felt a little dizzy, but I'm much better now."

Freddy said to Cavens, "If you murdered your own brother, go to the solitary confinement cell and kneel for five days."

Calvins didn't speak or defend himself; he kept his head down, as if he had tacitly accepted everything.

Ben took a step forward.

"Father."

Freddy's gaze turned to him.

Ben stood there, staring unblinkingly at Freddy: "This whole thing started because of me. If I hadn't bullied him all these years, he wouldn't be in this situation. If anyone's going to be punished, punish me too."

Upon hearing this, all the attendants around him were stunned.

Cavens raised his head, his gaze cold.

After a two-second silence, he spoke.

"No need. I don't need your hypocritical pleading for me. You'd be better off saving that energy for later and not bothering me."

After saying that, he didn't look at Freddy or Ben again, turned around, and walked straight toward the church.

Ben stood there silently, watching Cavens' departing figure, a bitter feeling rising on his lips.

He could only murmur softly.

"Don't worry, little brother, I will atone for your sins."
