Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 309 Taking my younger sister to buy clothes
Before Wayne and Alice could even leave their house, they were stopped in their way by a four-year-old boy.
The little boy was wearing a slightly oversized jacket and clutching a wooden sword in his hand. It was more of a whittled twig with several strips of cloth wrapped around the handle.
He stood in the middle of the porch, legs apart, head tilted back, trying to put on a serious expression.
He raised the wooden sword, its tip pointing at Wayne.
"You're my older brother?"
Wayne glanced down at him.
"Um."
The little boy felt a bit more confident. He took half a step forward and asked with a straight face, "Then tell me, why are you so handsome?"
Wayne paused for a moment.
He had imagined many ways to start the conversation: vying for favor, tattling, asking for candy, and even wondered if this younger brother he had never met would be hostile to him, the "elder brother" who had suddenly returned.
But he never expected that after holding back for so long, the other party would ask such a question.
Alice, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but laugh out loud.
After thinking it over carefully, Wayne gave an equally serious answer: "It's probably... a blessing from the goddess."
After listening, the little boy tilted his head and pondered for a while, then nodded solemnly: "Okay, when I grow up, I want to be a priest too, and I want to receive the goddess's blessing and become as handsome as you."
As soon as he finished speaking, the panel unfolded in front of Wayne.
[Ant - Character Information]
[Identity: Lynch's illegitimate son, four years old.]
[Note: In Ben's previous life, he died of hunger during a cold winter. Ant was six years old at the time.]
Wayne's gaze lingered on the panel for a moment.
In his previous life, this child didn't live past six. He starved to death. An illegitimate son of a marquis, freezing and starving to death. This either means that Lin Qi had completely collapsed in that timeline, or that the entire marquis's family was in a far more fragile situation than he sees now.
He didn't show any unusual expression on his face, but simply took out a gold coin from his pocket, bent down, and handed it to Ant.
Ant's eyes lit up immediately.
"Here you go, brother. Take this and buy yourself something good to eat. Remember, be polite next time you see me, and don't point your sword at people, understand?"
Ant took the gold coin, examined it twice, then nodded vigorously, unable to suppress his smile: "Understood, big brother!"
On the other side, seeing the mischievous Ante, the maid quickly stepped forward and led him back into the house.
Alice stood beside Wayne, watching Ant disappear at the end of the corridor. Her voice held a hint of hesitation: "Brother... isn't one gold coin a bit too much? He's only a four-year-old child. Giving him so much money, he wouldn't know how to spend it."
Wayne turned his head and glanced at her. "Is one gold coin a lot? Is the Marquis's manor always short of funds?"
Alice was taken aback by the question, then nodded slightly: "Well... Father spends too much on social engagements and ostentatious displays. There are many servants in the manor, but the income is always unstable. Although his reputation outside is quite respectable, the family accounts are actually always tight. I manage the daily expenses of the manor, and I have to be very careful with the money every month just to make ends meet."
Wayne paused for a moment: "I remember sending you gold coins regularly before, didn't I? You didn't use that money?"
Alice looked up, her gaze earnest: "That's money I saved for my brother. You need money more than I do, how can I spend yours?"
After hearing this, Wayne gently patted her head and said, "Silly girl, your brother has plenty of money. Buy whatever you want from now on, no need to save."
Alice shrank back slightly as her neck was being rubbed, her ears turning slightly red, but she didn't pull away.
After half an hour.
The brother and sister appeared on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
This is the busiest commercial street in the capital, lined with shops on both sides, their signs one after another, selling jewelry, fabrics, spices and herbs, and magical artifacts, with shouts rising and falling in the air.
There's even a long-standing saying in Wiggins: On Hollywood Boulevard, you can buy anything; there's nothing you can't buy.
Alice stood at the street corner, her gaze sweeping over the gleaming shop windows, the light in her eyes impossible to conceal. But instead of heading towards the expensive shops, she instinctively turned towards a few more unassuming-looking stores.
Wayne didn't follow her. Instead, he stopped and looked past the crowd, his gaze landing on the sign of a very elegantly decorated clothing store across the street. He reached out and took Alice's wrist, pulling her back.
"Let's go that way."
Wayne led her into the store.
When the shop assistant came over, his eyes swept over the two of them, and his professional smile was very warm.
"Welcome, young master and young lady! What would you like to see? We just received a new batch of autumn clothes; the fabrics and cuts are the best in the capital."
Alice's gaze swept around the store, lingering for a moment on a light blue dress before quickly looking away.
She reached out and tugged at Lavin's sleeve, lowering her voice to say, "Brother... the things in this store are too expensive, let's go look at another store."
Wayne ignored her.
He looked in the direction her gaze had lingered, took the light blue dress off the hanger, examined it from head to toe, and then handed it to the shop assistant next to him: "Wrap this up."
Then he walked around the store again, his eyes sweeping over the rows of clothes racks, and picked out five or six more pieces, each of which Alice had lingered on for more than two seconds when she entered the store.
Wayne handed all the clothes to the shop assistant.
"Wrap all of these up."
The shop assistant's smile instantly became several times more genuine. She took the clothes with both hands and nodded repeatedly, "Yes, sir! Please wait a moment, I'll pack it up for you right away!"
Alice stood to the side, twisting the hem of her dress between her fingers, her voice a few decibels lower than before: "Brother... those pieces are too expensive..."
Wayne glanced at the price tag: "The price is so-so. I'll buy it for you if you like it."
Fearing Wayne might change his mind, the shop assistant quickly folded and bagged the clothes. Then, he carefully brought out an exquisitely folded moon-white long dress from under the counter and presented it to the two of them: "Young master, the pieces you just selected are all this season's hot items, but the real signature piece has to be this one. This Moonlit Dress is woven from a mixture of Northern Ice Silkworm Silk and Moonlight Butterfly Scale Powder. The preparation of the materials alone took nearly three hundred hours. Adding the tailoring and magical color-fixing, the entire dress took five hundred hours to make. There's only one like it in the entire capital."
His eyes lit up when he saw his younger sister.
Wayne did not hesitate at all.
"Wrap it up too."
The shop assistant beamed, "Okay!"
Alice quickly spoke up.
"Brother, you really don't need to!"
"Since you're here," Wayne said casually, "you can pick out two items for Emma, Ella, and Vera as well. You can help them choose; your taste is better than mine."
Alice opened her mouth, but finally nodded.
About 15 minutes later, Alice picked out seven or eight more outfits, and the shopping trip was finally over.
When it was time to pay, Wayne placed the stack of clothes on the counter and took out his purse from his pocket: "How much is it in total?"
The shop assistant quickly checked the abacus, looked up, and announced the price with a smile: "Young master, the items you selected will cost a total of 1,200 gold coins."
Just then, a voice suddenly rang out.
"Wait, I want that dress..."
