Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 397 Re-entering a deep sleep

Wayne frowned.

Agatha's words surprised Wayne. When he woke up and saw that he had shrunk, his first thought was that it was the effect of the mist's rules. This made sense; after all, even the city lord could be stuffed into someone else's identity, so what was changing someone's body?

But now Agatha says no.

In other words, his shrinking has nothing to do with the rules of the City of Eternal Sleep. The mist merely dragged him into the city, gave him the identity of the eighth child, and that's all. So what's going on with his current twelve or thirteen-year-old body?

It couldn't be that the fog had some other side effect. Or perhaps something happened while he was unconscious that he was completely unaware of?

No answer found.

Wayne simply stopped thinking about it.

Since even Agatha Christie, who has lived here for ten years, can't explain it, there's no point in continuing to dwell on it. There are more important questions to ask right now.

"Senior, do you know what blood sacrifice is?"

Agatha paused, her hand holding the teacup still.

She looked at Wayne with a hint of surprise in her eyes.

"You've become a trial participant?"

Wayne nodded.

"Kid, do you know what a blood sacrifice is?"

"I don't know."

Agatha was about to continue speaking when she suddenly stopped, her hand gripping the edge of the table, and she began to feel dizzy.

"...Damn it, here we go again."

She raised her head and, forcing herself to stay awake, spoke.

"Kid, I don't have much time left before I wake up, listen carefully."

Wayne put down his teacup and sat up straight.

"When night falls, those who are awake become prey. You must hide yourself well. Don't turn on the lights, don't open the doors, and don't let anything find you. If you really can't get out of there, remember to run to the sewers in the south of the city. There are hiding places there, and that's where you can survive."

She paused, her breathing becoming increasingly rapid.

"Also, don't believe anyone who claims to be a messenger of God. Don't believe a single one."

After saying this, her body went limp and she fell backward.

Wayne caught her.

Wayne could probably guess this situation.

The panel mentioned that she is a semi-sleeper, waking up every now and then and then falling back into sleep. It seems that her time to sleep has come.

Wayne thought for a moment, then activated the water element within his body, wanting to see if his water magic would work.

The moment the water magic touched her.

Agatha was completely tense.

Immediately afterwards, two unnatural blushes appeared on her cheeks, and her breathing became short and rapid.

Wien sensed something was wrong and immediately withdrew his magic.

However, it was all too late.

Agatha slowly opened her eyes, and her gaze had completely changed.

That confusion lasted for about three seconds, then she looked down at her disheveled clothes and then at Wayne's hand on her waist.

Her face flushed bright red.

"Hachi! What...what did you do to me?"

She shoved Wayne away abruptly, taking half a foot back. She braced herself on the floor with one hand and clutched her collar with the other, her chest heaving violently.

"No... how could I... just now..."

She shook her head vigorously, as if trying to piece together the jumbled fragments of memory in her mind. But the more she tried, the redder her face became.

"Should we...?"

She didn't dare say the second half of the sentence.

Agatha looked down at her disheveled clothes, then looked up at Wayne. Her face was a mixture of shame and indignation, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Then her gaze fell on the teacup on the table.

The next second, the teacup flew towards Wayne.

"I'm your stepmother...you beast!"

Wayne dodged to the side, the teacup grazing his ear and smashing against the wall behind him, shards of porcelain scattering all over the floor.

"Senior, please let me explain..."

"Explain what? I clearly felt it just now..." Agatha couldn't continue, her face flushed even more, her fingers trembling, "How dare you... how dare you do this to your father's woman..."

Wayne opened his mouth, but was momentarily speechless.

This is truly inexplicable.

After all, this Agatha is not that Agatha.

Just as Wayne was racking his brains for the right words.

The door was pushed open.

The city lord stood at the entrance.

Wayne's heart sank.

That's it, now it's even harder to explain.

The scene was suspicious no matter how you looked at it. The city lord's wife was leaning against the corner of the wall, her clothes disheveled and her face flushed. He, the "eighth son," stood beside her, and a broken teacup lay on the ground. Anyone who saw this scene would not have a good first reaction.

Just as he was about to bite the bullet and speak, Cheng took the initiative.

"Look at you, talking nonsense again." He grabbed her shoulder, his tone tinged with helplessness. "Where did this wine come from? You must have secretly hidden it behind my back again. It was the same last time; you got drunk and hugged a pillar, yelling that I was a heartless man. And this time you're taking it out on Xiao Ba."

As he spoke, he helped Agatha up from the ground, his movements practiced and skillful, clearly not the first time he had done something like this.

"Come on, let me take you to rest."

"A good night's sleep will do the trick."

Agatha was half-carried, half-lifted out the door. She glanced back at Wayne, her eyes filled with suspicion and confusion, but the city lord's blatant lies were so natural that she didn't know who to believe for a moment.

The door closed.

Wayne stood there, motionless for a long time.

After everything was taken care of.

The city lord found Wayne again.

He changed into a clean robe, and the scrapes on his knees were treated. He looked much more presentable than when he was crawling on his knees.

He stopped in front of Wayne and looked down at his youngest son, who only reached his chest.

"Come with me."

The two entered a study.

The city lord sat down but did not speak immediately.

He rubbed his chin and moved his cheeks around a couple of times, his expression as if he were savoring something. After rubbing for a while, he finally turned his head and looked at Wayne with a serious expression.

"Speaking of which, did something happen before I fully woke up?"

Wayne remained calm: "What do you mean?"

The city lord rubbed his fingers around his chin twice, his brows furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly.

"I always feel a soreness in the corners of my mouth, like I've chewed on something. You know what that means?"

Wayne was silent for a moment.

It's no wonder it's sour after eating such a big ball.

"It's probably because you're sleeping in the wrong position and pressing on your stomach."

"Really?" The city lord moved his cheeks a couple more times, still somewhat doubtful, but ultimately didn't press the matter further.

He rubbed his neck, leaned back in his chair, and his entire demeanor suddenly changed, transforming from a bewildered, cheap father into a survivor who had endured ten years in this city.

The city lord saw his expression and waved his hand.

"Don't be nervous, this is my awakening time. I heard everything that happened in your tea room."

The city lord shifted to a more comfortable position in his chair, crossed his legs, and gestured with his chin toward Wayne.

"My name is Raine. This isn't an identity this crappy city gave me; it's my real name. I was born in Ironforge two hundred years ago. My father was a blacksmith, my mother a mage, and I was the second of three brothers."

"When I was twenty-three, I went south with a mercenary group. When we passed through this city, we thought we'd stop in to rest. I fell asleep and when I woke up, I was the city lord. I had a wife, a son, a daughter, and even my beard had turned white."

He chuckled self-deprecatingly.

"In the first year, I tried to run away every day, but I couldn't. Later, I found that I could wake up every now and then, and when I was awake, someone would come to me and ask me to sign documents, approve land deeds, and judge cases. How could I know any of these things? I just gritted my teeth and did it, and after a while, I got used to it."

He took his feet off his knees, leaned forward slightly, and looked at Wayne.

"And you? What's your name?"
