Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 412 Battle with Hogan
The three of them walked back the way they came.
Emily walked beside Wayne, her pace slow. She had only recently regained consciousness, and her body still carried the weakness of long-suppressed emotions. But she didn't stop to rest; she simply followed quietly.
Halfway there, Wayne gave a general account of his experiences over the past few days. He didn't go into too much detail, but he covered everything that needed to be mentioned: the fog of rules at the city gate, waking up to find himself shrunken, the situation with Reika and the city lord's mansion, the rules of the blood sacrifice, the clues given by Raine, and the points and trial system in the dungeon.
Emily listened and remained silent for a while.
"So, does this mean we've all been trapped in the dream of a dead god, and only by finding the right opportunity can we be freed?"
"That's roughly the idea." Wayne nodded. "I was lucky enough to retain my complete memories and strength. You were awakened by me ahead of time and have recovered most of your strength."
"What about the others? Rachel and the others, and Ophina, whom you mentioned, she seems to be conscious on her own without needing to be awakened?"
"Ofina's situation is rather unique, so I can't say for sure." Wayne paused. "As for Rachel, Ashley, Colin, and Ruo, I haven't been able to find out anything about them yet. They might still be asleep, or they might have been assigned to other areas. We'll have to search for them slowly."
After hearing this, Emily didn't ask any further questions.
Wayne suddenly added.
"By the way, Agatha Christie is also in this city."
Emily stopped abruptly.
"Who?"
"Agatha, a former elder of your order."
"You mean her? What's she doing here?"
"She is now..." Wayne hesitated for a moment, "...working as the city lord's wife in the city lord's mansion."
Emily was shocked.
"She became the city lord's wife? She got married?"
"She's practically a city lord's wife. She doesn't sit in this position consciously; she's a semi-asleep being, forced into it by the rules. Also, she came here to suppress the witch's curse."
"A semi-sleeper?" Emily repeated the word. "So, is she... awake or asleep?"
"Her condition is a bit unstable. She wakes up every now and then, then falls back into a trance. I left her messages about you and Lillian, and she was relieved to hear that you were both safe."
She whispered, "If Lillian knew, she'd be ecstatic."
"Hmm, let's talk about it when we get outside."
The three of them were stopped not far away.
There were seven or eight people blocking their way, completely obstructing the alleyway entrance. The leader was a man in his thirties, who was a size larger than the burly man who had bullied Bill.
He wore a black headscarf and had a short-handled battle axe on his belt. The axe blade was full of nicks and slits, so it was clearly not just for decoration.
Heros, standing behind him with half his face still swollen, reddened at the sight of Wayne: "Big brother! It's him!"
The burly man didn't speak. He slowly sized up Wayne, his gaze lingering on Wayne's cloak for a moment, before speaking casually, "You're the kid who beat up my brother?"
"it's me."
"Do you know the rules?"
"What are the rules?"
The burly man chuckled but didn't answer directly.
The panel popped up at that moment.
[Hogan - Biography]
[Identity: Leader of the Iron Fist Gang, ranked eighth on the dungeon leaderboard. Current combat strength: Mid-Tier 3 Warrior, considered quite formidable in the top ten.]
[Current Status: He originally planned to go there himself to see who was foolish enough to harm his people. After seeing you, he changed his mind.]
[Note: His Iron Fist Gang has been around for many years, but all the capable fighters have left, leaving only mediocre members. He's short-handed, so rather than killing them, he'd rather recruit them.]
[Note: He came with the intention of "recruiting" you, provided you can prove you have some skills.]
After reviewing the panel, Wayne felt more confident.
Hogan pulled a dark iron plate from his pocket, twirled it twice in his hand, and casually tossed it over. The plate struck the ground in front of Wayne's feet with a crisp sound.
"I'll give you two choices." Hogan pulled up a stool, sat down, and crossed his legs. "First, pick up the sign, kneel down, kowtow, call me 'Big Brother,' and follow me from now on. Today's matter will be wiped clean."
pin."
"And the second one?"
"Secondly," Hogan chuckled, his gaze sweeping over Wayne, "I'll send you into the mine tunnels so you'll know who you can mess with and who you can't in this underground city."
Wayne glanced down at the dark iron plaque in front of him, then looked up at Hogan.
"Don't pick up the first one, don't choose the second one."
Hogan's smile faded slightly.
"So what do you mean?"
"I choose option three." Wayne pulled his cloak hood back, revealing his youthful face. "If you beat me, I'll admit defeat today. If I beat you, you and your men get lost and don't cause Bill any more trouble."
The alleyway fell silent for a moment.
The Iron Fist gang members exchanged bewildered glances, then burst into laughter. Heros laughed so hard he clutched his stomach, nearly splitting his swollen face open again.
"Is this kid out of his mind?"
"Who does he think he is, daring to talk to the boss like that?"
Hogan didn't laugh.
He squinted at Wayne, stared at him for a long time, and then slowly stood up from the bench.
"Okay. I'll fight you."
He cracked his neck a couple of times, his knuckles popping: "If you lose, I won't just send you into the mine, I'll break both your legs before sending you in."
The moment he finished speaking, Hogan moved.
He was a head and a half taller than Wayne and weighed at least three times as much, but his charge was incredibly fast. He covered seven or eight meters in three steps, and his right fist, accompanied by the whooshing sound of wind, went straight for Wayne's face.
Wayne dodged the punch by tilting his head, but the force of the punch grazed his ear and shattered a section of the standing pillar behind him.
Hogan gave him no chance to catch his breath, his left fist sweeping across immediately. Wayne ducked and crouched down, the fist passing over his head. He lunged forward, closing in on Hogan, his right elbow striking Hogan's ribs.
A muffled thud.
Hogan took a half step back, his brow furrowing.
The force of that elbow strike far exceeded the strength of a twelve or thirteen-year-old child; he even felt as if a crack had been broken in his ribs.
"Interesting." Hogan licked his teeth and shook his arm. "No wonder you were able to take down Heros; something's off about your strength."
After he finished speaking, he charged forward again. This time, it wasn't a test; his punches were noticeably faster, one after another, accompanied by a continuous whooshing sound. Wayne moved nimbly, dodging left and right, occasionally raising his arm to block, the impact numbing his tiger's mouth.
Hogan grew increasingly alarmed as the game progressed.
He initially thought this was some young master who had run away from a family, carrying some kind of enhancement treasure, and that he would be exposed after a few rounds. But after several rounds of fighting, the opponent's rhythm not only didn't break down, but became smoother and smoother. His defense was impenetrable, and his counterattacks were precise and skillful, without a single unnecessary movement.
This is not the kind of fighting style a kid should be able to pull off.
This is an experienced player.
Hogan slammed his fist into the ground, sending debris flying and forcing Wayne back from his close-range attack. He then retreated three steps, creating some distance, and took a couple of breaths.
He stared at Wayne, his expression completely changed: "What exactly is the origin of your physical body?"
He was at least a sixth-tier king-level warrior outside, and even though this dilapidated city had reduced him to the mid-third tier, his eyesight and combat experience were still intact. But this kid in front of him was on par with him in terms of physical strength alone, and even slightly superior.
You have to understand that his muscles are the result of decades of real fighting, while this kid looks so young?
