Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 428 Returning to the Upper Class

Wayne waited until Theon finished crying before speaking.

"However, this disease is not, as everyone says, an absolutely incurable terminal illness."

Upon hearing that there was a chance for things to turn around, Theon immediately looked up.

Wayne began to explain the treatment to Theon.

"There are ways to heal the soul. In the eastern country of Ymisera, there lives an elf race whose ancestral tree can condense a kind of water of life, which has a very strong purifying effect on the defilement of the soul. If you can obtain the water of life from there, Linda's illness can be cured."

He paused after he finished speaking.

"But let me be clear from the start, Ymirsera is very far from here, and the elves aren't very friendly to outsiders. Even if you do get there, whether you can obtain the Water of Life is uncertain."

Theon listened without hesitation.

"Wow!"

Wayne looked at him like he was an idiot.

"You're going? How are you going to get out?"

Theon hesitated for a moment, then swallowed his words. Indeed, he couldn't even leave this city, let alone go to Ymirsela.

Wayne took out a stack of potions from his magic storage bag. The bottles and jars filled half the table, some transparent, some light blue, and some milky white, all tightly sealed with corks.

He placed the medicine bottle on the table: "This should last you for a while. The rate at which the lesions worsen will slow down, and the pain will lessen considerably. Just change the dressing once a day; I've written the instructions and dosage on the bottle."

Theon looked at the row of medicine bottles in front of him.

"Sir... how much for this medicine?"

"Make a note of this, consider it a favor you owe me."

Theon gritted his teeth and clasped his hands in a deep fist salute: "I will remember your great kindness, sir."

Wayne waved his hand: "Alright, don't be so polite with me. Don't worry about the treatment yet. I've already felt the goddess's guidance, and I believe we'll all be able to get out soon."

Theon was slightly taken aback: "Sir, you mean leaving the City of Eternal Sleep?"

"Um."

Theon's eyes lit up for a moment, then dimmed again. He had been in this city too long, seen too many people enter with hope only to be swallowed by darkness. He no longer dared to easily believe the word "get out."

But he didn't argue, he just whispered, "If we can really get out... then Linda will be saved."

Seeing his expression, Wayne didn't try to persuade him any further, but instead stretched and asked, "What time is it now?"

Theon looked up at the candlelight on the eaves: "According to the time displayed here, it's almost dawn."

Wayne clapped his hands.

"Okay, then I should probably head back now."

I'll come down again tonight.

Theon was taken aback: "Is the master going upstairs?"

"Hmm." Wayne walked to the tent entrance. "But before that, I need you to do me a favor."

Theon immediately stood up straight, his tone respectful.

"Please speak."

"Help me find out about someone."

"Who?"

"Tessa."

Wayne glanced back at him: "She's being hunted by the Divine Servant Team and has hidden deep in the mines. Find out her whereabouts and movements for me, the more details the better. What's her situation, where she's hiding, who she's been in contact with recently—tell me everything you can."

Theon didn't ask any further questions and nodded in agreement: "Don't worry, sir, I will use the Black Hand's channels to find out. As long as she is still in the mine, there will definitely be news."

Wayne nodded and was about to leave the tent when he suddenly stopped, as if remembering something, and asked, "By the way, do you know the city lord up there? And... what is your relationship with him?"

Theon remained silent for a moment.

"Are you asking about that city lord?"

"Um."

“We do maintain contact with him,” Theon said carefully, “but that man is very mysterious. He chose to become a semi-sleeper, not because he was bound by the rules, but because he wanted to stay in the city lord’s mansion.”

Wayne narrowed his eyes slightly.

Theon continued, "My father told me that ten years ago, a riot broke out among high-ranking demons in the upper levels. The riot almost breached the underground city's blockade. It was the city lord who brought a group of mysterious people and suppressed the riot. The relatively stable situation in the upper levels at night was maintained thanks to him."

Wayne was slightly surprised after hearing this.

It seems he still knows too little about Rennes.

A young man from three hundred years in the future voluntarily stayed in this graveyard of gods for more than ten years, secretly maintaining the balance of the upper levels, and was also able to use a group of mysterious people to suppress the riots of high-level demons.

This person is definitely more than just a blacksmith's son.

"Okay, I understand." Wayne clasped his hands in a fist salute to Theon. "Then I'll be going now. Tessa has sent word to me at the Traveler's Lodge."

"Don't worry, sir, I will do it as soon as possible."

Wayne left the camp and walked uphill along the path he had come from.

When I returned to the top, the people in the underground city were already starting to get up. Some people were squatting and brushing their teeth in front of the shacks, and several vendors were setting up their wooden boards by the square, preparing to display their goods.

He walked through the crowd, returned to the hotel, and pushed open the door to his room.

Emily is still asleep.

She kicked the blanket aside, sprawling out on the bed with the blanket only reaching her waist. To make matters worse, she wasn't wearing any clothes, and her delicate skin glowed with a soft luster in the dim light.

That's when the sounds of breakfast vendors came from outside.

"Bread, delicious bread."

On the other hand, what Wayne was thinking was:

Hmm... steamed buns... okay!

He covered Emily with the blanket.

Logically speaking, he shouldn't be blushing. What kind of situation hasn't he seen? Just during his time at the Marquis's mansion, he's dealt with countless unexpected situations. Besides, he and Emily know each other inside and out.

In the end, he could only attribute it to the fact that it had shrunk.

However, speaking of which, he had vaguely noticed a change in the past two days: he seemed to have grown a little taller.

It's not an illusion.

The old pajamas he wore on the first day, which originally dragged on to his ankles, were now slightly pulled up. The sleeves were also shorter, revealing more of his wrists. It seemed that his physical growth and the unlocking of his strength were progressing in sync.

His strength has now recovered to the early stage of the fourth tier, and his body has grown from the appearance of a twelve or thirteen-year-old to that of a thirteen or fourteen-year-old. If this trend continues, once his strength is fully restored, his body should also return to its original adult form.

He put down his teacup and was about to sit down at the table to wait a while when he heard a sound of someone turning over in bed.

"Um……"

Emily rolled over, squinted at the table, and said in a still-sleepy, hoarse voice, "Sir...you're back?"

She yawned, propped herself up on her arms and sat up. The blanket slipped off her shoulders, but she didn't care. She sat naked on the bed, staring intently at Wayne, her gaze gradually becoming more focused from her initial dazed state.
