Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 448 The Elf's Thanks

The tree spirit's canopy swayed slightly, and the withered yellow leaves rustled off, but new buds were sprouting from the branches.

"Children, come out."

Wayne looked up.

From deep within the enormous crown above the dome came a rustling sound, like leaves rustling in the wind.

Immediately afterwards, a group of palm-sized sprites flew down from the dome one after another.

They landed on the branches of the old tree, circled around it several times, and the lead elf pounced on the trunk.

"Su, are you alright?"

The tree spirit's voice softened: "I'm much better now. Children, it was this young friend who saved me."

The elves all turned to look at Wayne.

Their size was similar to the elven mentors that Vayne had seen with the princess before, about the size of a palm, and their bodies were a faint emerald green.

Reverence for nature is in the nature of all elves, so their attire was similar to the elves Wayne had seen before: two leaves draped over their bodies, one in front and one in back, both simply concealed by thin vines. However, viewed from the side, it presented a completely different scene…

The leading tree spirit flapped its wings and flew over, hovering in front of Wayne, and gave a proper bow.

"Thank you for saving Sue."

"It was just a small favor."

She turned around and spoke to her companions behind her, then flew back to Wayne, where more than a dozen elves carried three large gourds and flew over.

"This is a gift of gratitude from the forest spirits, a secret elven brew. Please accept it."

Wayne took one of the gourd-shaped bottles; it felt slightly heavy in his hand. He uncorked it and took a sniff; a sweet, milky fragrance wafted out, carrying the scents of herbs and flowers.

The panel popped up.

【Elf's Secret Brew: Ingredient Analysis】

[Ingredients: Same as the exclusive formulas of Lina, Lia, and Lisie from Frost Town; all-natural and additive-free.]

[Note: This item can only be crafted when a new elf is born. These three bottles were created over nearly a century due to the influence of their physical attributes.]

[Note 2: It has a powerful wound-healing effect, a sweet and delicious taste. One sip can make you forget all your troubles.]

Wayne raised an eyebrow after reading the panel.

Lina, Lia, and Lisie's exclusive formula.

Wouldn't that mean...?

He didn't refuse and put the three bottles of the secret brew into his storage bag: "Thank you, I'll accept them."

Seeing that he accepted the gift, the tree spirits circled him a few times. Some landed on his shoulders, while others hovered in front of him, chattering their thanks. Some of the bolder ones landed on the back of his hand and bowed in greeting.

However, to be honest, they really liked Wayne's appearance; Wayne's looks perfectly matched the elves' aesthetic standards.

Just then, an untimely voice cut in from the side.

"Heh... I never expected that this old tree would hide you in the dome."

Ophina was still hanging in mid-air. She turned her head and stared at the group of tree spirits, her voice laced with a cold laugh: "If I had known this would happen, I should have killed all of you little things back then."

The tree spirits were so frightened by the sound that they shrank behind the branches of the old tree, leaving only a few pairs of eyes peeking out as they watched her warily.

The canopy of the sacred tree lowered slightly: "Anubidi, with the old tree here, you can't touch them."

Her canopy swayed slightly, and the leaves rustled softly, as if soothing the little creatures huddled behind the leaves, trembling.

"Children, ignore her. He is now completely under her control, and let us begin the next song of eternal sleep."

The lead forest elf turned around and looked at the other elves: "Yes, as long as we reseal the god's corpse, we can continue to live peacefully here."

The other tree spirits nodded in agreement.

Immediately afterwards, the tree spirits flew back to the top of the tree trunk, forming a concentric circle and hovering face to face.

There was no accompaniment, no instruments, just pure sound. The voices of dozens of elves overlapped and converged into a line beneath the dome.

May the evening breeze carry away the whispers of the long night.

May the morning dew wash away the traces of deep sleep.

Go back, go back.

Return to the land of rest...

The singing wasn't loud, but the effect was very noticeable.

The heartbeat of the divine corpse began to change. The originally deep and powerful thumping gradually slowed down, as if someone had pressed down on a taut string, letting it relax. The heartbeat became deeper and longer, with each interval lasting longer than the last.

Wayne didn't stop.

He placed his hands on the tree trunk, and water elements continued to pour in, washing away the riotous spirit of the divine corpse along with the singing.

A few more tender buds have appeared on the sacred tree.

However, at this moment, Ophina was furious.

"Idiots! A bunch of idiots!"

"You think sealing away the divine corpse will guarantee your peaceful survival? Dream on! Don't you realize that even if I don't control this divine corpse today, someone else will take it from me sooner or later? Especially those things in the Abyss; they've been eyeing this divine corpse for a long time. Once they get their hands on it, do you think you can live peacefully here?"

"At that time, everyone on the ground will be buried with you, and none of you will escape."

Wayne didn't stop. He glanced at Ofina and said, "And what makes you any better, Anubidi?"

Ophina opened her mouth, but couldn't say anything.

"Don't try to scare me with the abyss." Wayne withdrew his gaze. "Do you think you're better than demons? You think you can keep them alive? I don't need to remind you what you just did. You prematurely awakened the god's corpse, released the Devil Fruit, and used the entire city as a sacrifice. You, Anubidi, are not even as good as a demon from the abyss."

Anubidi stared at Wayne.

"You sharp-tongued brat, do you really think you've won?"

Before she finished speaking, a black shadow burst forth from Ophina's forehead, moving with incredible speed, like an arrow shot from a bow, aimed straight at Wayne's brow.

Before Wayne could react, the black image seeped into his consciousness like water.

He sensed an intrusion.

Anubidi's will entered Wayne's consciousness space and looked around. His voice was filled with undisguised joy: "What a perfect body. More than a hundred times better than the one that trash Morris found."

He strode through the mist, searching for traces of Wayne's spiritual entity. His plan was simple: kill Wayne on a conscious level and completely take over the body.

But he went up one floor after another.

The fog swirls and churns, with no end in sight.

Anubidi stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowing. "Where are they? How is this possible..."

A laugh came from the depths of the mist.

Anubidi suddenly turned around.

The mist was lifted, and a massive figure slowly emerged from it. So tall was its entirety obscured, it stood like a wall between heaven and earth, its mere presence exuding an oppressive, suffocating aura.

Wayne lowered his head: "Were you looking for me?"

Anubidi took a step back, his voice trembling: "Impossible! This is impossible! How could your spiritual body be so large!"

Wayne didn't reply, as if he were looking at a reptile.

Anubidi wanted to run away.

He turned to try and escape the space, but fog surrounded him from all sides, and the fog was filled with Wayne's presence. He was like an insect trapped in a jar, with nowhere to run.

Wayne reached out and grabbed him.
