Ophina stepped back seven or eight paces.

"Kid, what did you do in the water?"

Wayne twirled his staff in his hand, then pointed the tip at her: "Looks like my water magic is working quite well for you."

Ofina's face darkened.

The next second, Wayne had already raised his staff.

Hundreds of water arrows condensed simultaneously behind him, densely covering the entire space, each one enveloped in a pale blue light, like a flowing wall.

No further words were needed.

With a press of the staff, water arrows poured out.

Ophina bent her knees and launched herself forward. The water arrow exploded on the ground where she had just stood, splashing up a cloud of white mist. Using tree roots for leverage, she weaved through the thick branches without stopping.

Water arrows followed her trajectory, slamming into tree roots, stone pillars, and rock walls, shattering into sprays of water. Ophina tried to retaliate a few times during her dodges, but a second wave of water arrows followed, forcing her to continue dodging.

She was grazed on the heel by a jet of water on the sixth tree root and staggered half a step.

Wayne didn't stop; he kept lowering his staff and unleashing wave after wave of water arrows, shrinking Ophina's space to maneuver smaller and smaller.

Ophina tried to rush out using the opposite direction of the tree roots, but he turned the tip of his staff, and a water arrow from the side hit her shoulder, exploding into a burst of blue light and pushing her into the tree roots.

Wayne did not chase after them.

He glanced at Ophina's figure hidden behind the tree roots, then looked down at the staff he was holding, and suddenly realized an awkward problem—he had barely looked at her face at all during this fight.

Wayne felt like a perverted manipulator of water magic, constantly spraying water all over the girl.

Just then, Ophina emerged from behind the tree roots.

Unsteady on her feet, she steadied herself by holding onto a tree trunk. She looked around and her gaze fell on Wayne, then she blinked.

"Professor Wayne... how did I get here?"

She looked down at her body, her expression shifting from confusion to panic, a blush rising on her cheeks: "I feel like my body is so strange... Teacher, do you have any clothes?"

Wayne didn't move.

Ophina's panicked expression was very convincing, but just a few minutes ago this body was shrouded in black mist and had been attacking his face. He wasn't going to let his guard down so easily.

"Stay where you are and don't move."

He pulled a spare robe from his storage bag and tossed it over.

Ofina's lips curved into a smile.

"You've been fooled. You fool."

She shot out, her five fingers forming a claw, black light condensing into spikes at her fingertips, aiming straight for Wayne's forehead.

The fingertips pierced his forehead.

The sensation was wrong, and Ophina's pupils constricted sharply.

The Wayne before my eyes is turning into water droplets.

"I'm here."

The voice came from behind her.

Before she could turn around, the water jet had already slammed into her back, carrying her and her shadow more than ten meters away, where she crashed into a pile of dead branches and leaves.

Ofina crawled out of the ruins, soaking wet, with strands of hair clinging to her face, and a trickle of blood oozing from the corner of her mouth.

She looked down at herself, and her expression changed.

The power within her was rapidly fading, and most of the black aura that possessed her was washed away by the water, as if a shell had been forcibly peeled off.

Wayne didn't give her time to sort out her feelings.

Water chains sprang from the puddles on the ground, wrapping around her ankles, wrists, waist, and abdomen, tearing her limbs apart and suspending her in mid-air.

Ofina struggled twice, but couldn't move.

She looked up and glared at Wayne: "You!"

Wayne stood a few steps away, watching her suspended position. His gaze lingered for a moment, and his ears burned slightly.

With a flick of his hand, the steam rolled up a long robe, wrapping it around her from bottom to top and covering the parts that shouldn't be exposed.

Ophina, shrouded in her robe, froze for a moment before letting out a cold laugh: "What, afraid to look?"

The panel quietly appeared.

Ophina's expression froze for a moment.

"Kid, how about I let you hit the stake and you let me go? This body is top-notch, you won't regret it."

"Trying to change the subject? Or just stalling for time? When did even the gods become stupid?"

Ophina's laughter finally subsided.

"Kid!"

Wayne stopped looking at her.

He turned and walked toward the sacred tree.

The divine tree lay before him, its trunk so thick it seemed to have no end, its roots entwined around the enormous heart. He could sense that the life force within the divine tree was gradually waning.

Wayne raised his hands and placed them on the surface of the tree trunk.

Water element surged from his palms, seeping into the veins of the tree trunk. He held nothing back, fully unleashing the magic within his body, pouring water element into the tree like a torrent.

The sacred tree did not respond.

Wayne didn't stop; he continued to instill this knowledge.

Water elements seeped into the tree trunk layer by layer, like water being poured into a parched mouth.

A moment later, a deep tremor came from deep within the tree trunk.

A huge eye slowly opened on the tree trunk, its murky pupils turning before finally settling on Wayne.

A woman's voice came from inside the tree trunk: "This...this is...the power of life?"

He then glanced at Wayne.

Wayne took a breath and said, "I know."

He pulled a bottle of potion from his pocket, and without hesitation, tilted his head back and gulped it down. The potency of the medicine burned into his body along his throat, quickly transforming into a powerful surge of magical energy.

Wayne placed his hands back on the tree trunk.

This time, the water element didn't seep in slowly; instead, it poured out of his palm like a burst dam. The entire tree trunk, from roots to crown, began to glow with blue light, and the water element spread along its veins, pouring into every withered branch.

The old tree's body trembled violently, and its huge eye widened, its murky light revealing obvious astonishment.

This power is several times greater than before.

"This water... is no ordinary water. It carries the breath of life within it, pure and gentle, yet astonishingly profound. Young friend, I've never seen water magic like this before in all my years of life."

Water elements continued to flow into Wayne's palm.

"Senior, how are you recovering? Are you able to soothe the divine corpse again?"

The tree spirit felt the restoration of life, she said.
