One Piece: I'm a Hunter on the Grand Line

Chapter 49 Impel Down is a good place

After leaving Spider Mile, Yelena and T. Penn split up.

The latter led her subordinates to escort the kidnapped civilians home, while she was responsible for escorting Bai Xiong back to the naval branch ahead of them.

Two days later, as the warship was sailing towards Nottis Island, a naval officer ran to Yelena's hatch to report:

"My lord, the polar bear has awakened from its coma."

Yelena nodded, then ordered, "Take some food and go check on that guy."

She went down the stairs to the bottom of the warship and arrived at the prison door.

Looking around, the huge prison cell was empty, with only Polar Bear imprisoned inside, while the outside was surrounded by the Navy.

Hearing footsteps, the polar bear struggled to lift its head, and a familiar dark figure came into view.

"Cough...cough cough...You didn't kill me? Where are you going to send me? To those nobles who have a grudge against me?! Or will you execute me publicly on Notis Island? Cough cough!"

Yelena gently shook her head. "Neither. Have you heard of Impel Down?"

Impel Down?!

The polar bear's expression changed slightly. Legend has it that this place is a pirate's hell. It's better to die at sea than to be taken there!

"Don't be fooled by the rumors, Impel Down is a good place."

"The warden is non-toxic and harmless, and we can communicate face-to-face. The warden has a gentle personality and never beats or scolds prisoners."

"And those adorable jailer beasts, all fluffy, love to be close to people like you."

"It's a place teeming with talented people, a paradise for pirates, and a haven for villains."

The polar bear became increasingly confused. "Are you talking about Impel Down?"

He shook his head, glaring at Yelena. "You came all this way to your defeated opponent just to spout this nonsense?"

Through the gap in the fence, Yelena slipped the meat and wine over, saying, "Eat something first, I have some questions for you later."

"Get lost! I don't need your pity!" The polar bear's tone was weak, but his attitude was extremely tough.

The navy personnel present were immediately displeased.

How dare a mere prisoner be so arrogant?

"How dare you speak to the Black-Robed Lord like that, you bastard!"

"Two days ago, if the adults hadn't instructed us to apply medicine and bandage you, do you think you'd be awake now? Quickly say thank you!"

The polar bear was taken aback, reached up and touched the bandage on its neck, its eyes filled with complex emotions. It hadn't expected this guy to have such a human side...

wrong!

His expression suddenly changed. He realized that his injuries were caused by that guy outside the prison gate. What was there to thank?

Yelena waved her hand, her tone softening, "Don't argue, we should treat the injured with the warmth of spring."

The navy members were deeply moved. The man in black robes was not only powerful, but also very kind-hearted. They had misunderstood him before.

"Go, tear off the bandages on the polar bear one by one, and make some salt water to disinfect it. Remember to add plenty of salt."

hiss!

Gasps filled the room as the sailors cried out in their hearts, "Give us back the emotion we felt!"

They weren't wrong about her; she really was death itself!

"..."

The polar bear silently picked up the bowl, no longer daring to utter a word of refusal.

After a hearty meal, he leaned lazily against the wall, shrugged at the person outside the door, and said, "Ask whatever you want."

"Why did the White Bear Pirates disappear from the seas over the past year? Why did you massacre the nobles? And why did you reappear after hiding so well?"

Yelena voiced all her doubts.

"Is that all?" Polar Bear sneered. He thought the other party wanted to know some secret, but it turned out to be just this?

"When I first heard that the new captain of the Nautilus Island branch was personally appointed by Marine Headquarters, I knew that the White Bear Pirates were being targeted by Marineford!"

"I wanted to keep a low profile for a while, but the investors behind the pirate crew wouldn't agree. Those greedy guys, seeing their profits dwindling, keep sending people to urge me to go out to sea and plunder!"

"I ignored them, and they actually sent assassins! They want to replace the captain! Humph, who do they think they are?!"

"After eliminating those sycophants hiding behind the scenes, I don't plan to hide anymore. All these years I've been working for their profit, never truly experiencing the freedom of being a pirate!!"

"I'm heading to the Grand Line! I'm going to find the legendary One Piece!! Cough...cough cough!!"

As he spoke, the polar bear's tone became increasingly agitated.

Whoosh!

He suddenly stood up and rushed to the fence, gripping the metal bars tightly with both hands, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at the people outside.

"It's all your fault! If you hadn't shown up, we would be on the Grand Line by now!"

"You just wait! One day I'll escape, and then I'll tear you to pieces with my own hands!!"

The polar bear tried to tear open the railing in front of him, but due to the presence of the sea stone shackles, he couldn't muster much strength and could only stand there in helpless rage.

After hearing the polar bear's description, Yelena's doubts vanished. It turned out to be a story of raising tigers—no, raising bears—that had become a problem.

She didn't linger and turned to walk outside.

Two days later, the warship docked at the naval branch pier on Notis Island.

Yelena didn't go home immediately; instead, she followed the Navy into the branch.

The colonel has not returned yet, so someone needs to stay here and guard the white bear to prevent the remnants of the pirate crew from coming to rescue them.

As it turns out, Yelena was overthinking it.

A week after news of Polar Bear's capture spread, apart from reporters and nobles who came to order the navy to execute him as soon as possible, no pirates dared to show their faces.

"We're setting sail early tomorrow morning. Would you like to come with me to the Grand Line?"

After using his terrifying face to scare away the nobles blocking the branch, T. Penn approached Yelena and earnestly tried to persuade her.

"Marineford's new recruitment season is approaching. With your skills and talent, you can easily pass the selection process and may even receive special training from higher-ups!"

The person in front of me is ruthless and shows no mercy to pirates.

However, this style of doing things is not criticized in the Navy, and T. Penn believes that many high-ranking officers appreciate her behavior and will provide her with conveniences on her path to promotion.

His students, once they join the navy, are rising stars!

Yelena clicked her tongue, her expression under the hood somewhat helpless. Why did every colonel she knew want to tie her to the ship of justice?

Is the Navy really that short of personnel?

"Thank you for your kind offer, but I would still prefer to be a free bounty hunter."

Hearing the other party's decisive words, T. Peng's face was full of regret and disappointment. What a fine naval prospect, what a pity.

"I respect your choice... Sigh, who knows when we'll meet again after this farewell."

"Don't rush towards pirates just because you're making money. There are many strong people on the high seas. You never know when you might encounter a pirate whose strength is completely disproportionate to his bounty."

"Life is the most important thing, you must take good care of yourself."
