Huayu: I was immediately ensnared by Jing Tian as soon as I entered the industry.

Chapter 93 The True Face of the Hollywood Media; Jing Tian's Worries

Hollywood film news reported on the casting of "Green Book," and many media outlets began to ridicule it.

"Hollywood's top actors Matt Damon and Don Cheadle have joined forces in the new film directed by the Silver Bear-winning director at the Berlin Film Festival."

"Chinese directors are adept at incorporating ethnic symbols, and we may see Matt Damon wearing a cheongsam on screen —"

"Whether it's a short-lived Hollywood gold rush or a pragmatic commercial experiment, we'll have to wait and see."

"."

,

While preparing for the film crew, Wang Xuan also browsed news online.

Hollywood media always have a condescending attitude and are full of stereotypes about Chinese directors.

Harvey, that fat bastard, swaggered in with a cigar dangling from his mouth, looking around Wang Xuan's office.

"Wang, your company is too small; it doesn't even have any decent decorations."

Wang Xuan looked away from the computer screen: "You came all this way just to tell me this?"

"Of course not, I'm here to tell you that all the supporting actors and staff are in place, and you can start filming anytime."

The chubby man chuckled and sat down on the sofa. "This sofa is too hard. Should I get you a red sofa set?"

Upon hearing this, Wang Xuan raised an eyebrow, staring at Harvey with an unfriendly expression: "You didn't interfere with the casting of 'Green Book,' did you?"

"Cassandra was in charge of everything; I didn't have any involvement whatsoever."

The fat man shook his head, his smile somewhat unnatural, thinking: Did Wang Xuan find out that he likes to audition on the sofa?

He skipped that topic and brought up media reports: "Wang, the media has a lot of doubts about you. You have to make this movie well and prove them wrong."

"You don't need to tell me that. Just wait and see."

Wang Xuan spoke with great confidence.

This confidence comes from the courage the script gave him.

On this day when the US is pushing political correctness to the extreme, the plot of "Green Book" is already invincible.

Hollywood, in particular, a Democratic stronghold, is a prime example of political correctness.

Disney's animated film "The Princess and the Frog" features its first Black voice actor for the lead role.

There are also a whole host of films featuring Black protagonists, such as "The Weakness," "Cherish," and "Individuality," which are currently in development.

Carnegie Hall in New York City—this is where filming for "Green Book" began.

Wang Xuan chose this location to film the scene where the two main characters meet for the first time.

"Action!"

On the monitor, Don Shirley, a Black man, sat on a raised platform, looking down at Matt Damon.

The former dressed in extreme luxury, with a gold necklace around his neck, trying to use wealth to offset the discrimination and inferiority brought about by his skin color.

Don Cheadle's acting skills are beyond question; a fleeting hint of inferiority flashes in his eyes.

Matt Damon, who comes from an art-house film background, tries his best to hide his racist sentiments.

The area outside the concert hall was completely blocked, with not only Hollywood media but also reporters from domestic portal websites.

They wanted to get the news: what kind of script did a Silver Bear director from the East have that attracted the attention of two top Hollywood actors?

The reporters from China were all incredibly excited.

..

The first time a Chinese director made a foreign-language film was in 02, with director Chen's "Kill Me Softly".

At the time, state media gave it extremely high praise: a landmark breakthrough for Chinese films going global.

When the movie was released, it turned out to be a pornographic film, completely ruining its prestige.

And what about Wang Xuan?

Judging from the film's title and the two lead actors, this is a genuine art film.

Wang Xuan had reason to suspect that Director Chen had tricked the central media last time, and was now being more cautious; otherwise, he would have given him some news coverage.

"Wang, your script is fantastic. The unfair treatment of Black people should have been brought to the screen long ago."

Don Cheadle gave Wang Xuan a thumbs up.

Matt Damon, standing to the side, gave an awkward laugh. As a traditional white man, he was a beneficiary of the system.

"Haha, but all of that is in the past, and Obama is the best proof of that."

"Yes, a Black person can be president now."

..

After the concert hall scenes were over, the crew moved to New Orleans, which not only had street scenes that fit the 60s, but also a welfare policy, which was the reason for choosing this location for large-scale filming.

New Orleans offers tax breaks and cash rebates for films, with up to 40% of production costs deducted, making it one of the cities with the lowest film production costs in North America.

Domestically, the production team of the TV series "Sun Tzu".

As Zhao Shanshan looked at the information she had gathered, her expression gradually turned grim. She glanced up at Jing Tian on set, realizing it was necessary to let her know.

"Click, this one's passed."

Liu Xingang smiled and praised, "Jing Tian acted very well."

"Thank you, director."

Jing Tian nodded, already numb to the director's praise; he would say the same thing for almost every take.

"Tian Tian, come here, I have something to tell you." Zhao Shanshan beckoned and pulled Jing Tian aside.

"Sister Shanshan, what are you trying to say?"

Zhao Shanshan handed over the information she had gathered: "Take a look for yourself. Harvey Weinstein, who collaborated with Wang Xuan, is..."

Hollywood has a bad reputation —

After learning that Wang Xuan and Harvey were collaborating, she asked someone to find out what was going on.

You wouldn't know unless you looked into it, and once you did, you'd be shocked.

Some media outlets have called Harvey a "Midas touch" and praised his Oscar public relations skills.

He is also regarded by the media as the "godfather of independent films," praising him for selling Miramax to Disney for a high price.

But what circulates most widely are things that are extremely old, such as "Harvey's Girl" and "The Casting Couch".

If Wang Xuan collaborates with someone like that, he'll inevitably become influenced by that person.

"I believe in Brother Xuan, he won't be led astray." Jing Tian handed the phone back.

Despite saying that, she had a hidden worry in her heart.

Ultimately, Wang Xuan is in his early twenties, a time when hormones are raging, and in the world of fame and fortune that is Hollywood, he might really lose control.

"No matter how much faith you have in him, I still advise him to stay away from this person."

Seeing Jing Tian's unwavering resolve, Zhao Shanshan, not wanting to see the young lady suffer emotionally, reminded her again.

"Yes, I know." Jing Tian nodded.

When news of Wang Xuan's film starting production reached China, some media outlets, always eager for a good spectacle, interviewed several prominent Chinese directors.

"Hollywood isn't easy to break into. I tried it myself, but I gave up because I had too little autonomy as a director—I wish him success."

Director Chen said this during a media interview on the set of "The Founding of a Republic".

It's fine if you don't mention his failed attempt to break into Hollywood, but once you do, many people remember that pornographic film and their eyes start to look at him differently.

He usually acts like a cultured person, but he actually filmed this kind of thing.

Meanwhile, at the press conference for "A Simple Noodle Story," a reporter asked Zhang Yimou the same question.

"Young people should have this drive. I hope he can overcome cultural differences and make a good film."
