Dawn of Life

Chapter 21 The Situation is Grim

Lin Yue placed the water glass on the bedside table, turned to look at Liu Cuiying, and said earnestly, "Mom, Gao Ming and I just got divorced, and Xiaoyu can't accept it yet. Besides, a child's genes come half from his mother and half from his father. If you speak ill of Gao Ming in front of Xiaoyu, you are denying half of his genes and saying he's bad. His current behavior is a self-protective instinct, not simply defending Gao Ming."

After she finished speaking, Liu Cuiying's expression improved slightly.

Lin Yue continued, "Mom, I know you're still angry with Gao Ming because you feel sorry for me. But let bygones be bygones. If seeing Gao Ming's messages really bothers you, just block him. But no matter what, he's still Xiaoyu's father, that's an unchangeable fact. Don't speak ill of him in front of Xiaoyu in the future."

Liu Cuiying didn't say anything. Lin Haifeng walked over and said, "Alright, daughter, you must be tired after a long day at work. Go wash up and go to bed."

Lin Yue felt genuinely exhausted. She knew Liu Cuiying's personality; she overthinked things and was prone to getting stuck on minor issues. This matter had been resolved, but she didn't know how much Liu Cuiying had taken to heart tonight, or whether similar conflicts would arise again in the future.

Perhaps this is just her life, with endless problems to solve. But she believes everything will turn out for the better; at least for now, Gao Ming is increasingly no longer capable of stirring any ripples in her heart. To her, Gao Ming now has only one identity: the father of her son.

Work also seems to be progressing in a positive direction. Since the conflict between Shengxing and Liuzheng over recruitment, the two have appeared to be getting along quite well lately. Most importantly, Liuzheng has not only refrained from arguing with Shengxing, but he's also rarely seen at the company.

According to Su Ling, the performance of the business teams that Liu Zheng is in charge of is not very good, especially the marketing center currently under Shi Potian's jurisdiction, which is mainly responsible for channel sales of the company's directly operated stores and controls half of the company's major customer resources. Recently, Liu Zheng has been personally leading the team to visit clients.

Judging from the current situation, Shengxing has gradually penetrated into various management departments of the company, including finance, investment and financing, human resources and administration, legal affairs, and even the product team that was reporting to Liu Zheng just a few days ago has been directly transferred to Shengxing.

However, Shengxing hasn't made any moves in marketing centers or online operations teams that directly face the market and users. It's probably because they're afraid of causing a ripple effect and need more time to plan ahead.

Because of the recent frequent organizational restructuring, some team adjustments were not formalized with official documents. Instead, Lin Yue simply sent a notification in the management team's group chat to synchronize information, and the adjustments were completed immediately.

Therefore, much information remains only at the management level. Those below them only know their direct supervisor, but they have no idea who their department head or the head of the larger team is. When emails require copying the department head, they can only contact Lin Yue privately to confirm before sending them.

Sometimes, the same person would ask her the same question several times in one day. Lin Yue said irritably, "Didn't you just ask me?" The other person was also helpless and said that they had indeed encountered situations where the recipients of emails sent in the morning were different from those sent in the afternoon.

Lin Yue felt equally helpless in the face of the current situation. Unable to manage upwards, she could only appease downwards. She couldn't change the bosses' decisions, so she could only let them have a soft landing.

So when employees come to her to talk about the difficulties they face at work, she tries all sorts of ways to analyze how the external market is sluggish, how bright the company's prospects are, and how the bosses are working together to find solutions and prepare to overtake the competition.

Sometimes she is even infected by her own passionate and inspiring words. This is the helplessness of her position. Her own heart is scattered, but she still has to work hard to unite the team.

Shengxing was certainly aware of the current situation, and he asked Lin Yue for a solution. Lin Yue knew this was a way for the boss to shift the pressure; he knew the crux of the problem, but he still needed someone to share the burden with him.

So Lin Yue earnestly analyzed the situation for him: "The current market environment is not good, and the employees are quite anxious. If we can win a business battle, we can quickly solve the problem. For example, General Manager Liu can lead everyone to improve the performance of the marketing center, or General Manager Sheng can lead everyone to open offline branches."

Sheng Xing listened thoughtfully, while Lin Yue observed his micro-expressions. She was actually testing the waters; what she wanted to convey was that the issue of employee morale ultimately boiled down to top-down strategic and management problems. Of course, she didn't mention management issues at all, because that was currently a red line.

She paused, then continued, "In terms of what the HR department can do right now, the 'Competency Model' project will be completed in half a month. By then, the issues of salary discrepancies and mismatch between people and jobs will be resolved. We can't change the external environment, but at least we can address internal fairness."

"In addition, we are currently promoting the training program mentioned last time. When employees are anxious, it can help them look inward and start from their own growth, which can also change the current team atmosphere."

After saying these words, Sheng Xing's expression clearly relaxed a lot.

Lin Yue knew that when reporting to the boss in the workplace, you couldn't just talk about objective problems; you had to talk about what you could do in that environment.

Sheng Xing nodded and said, "Both of these projects are very important right now, so keep a close eye on them." After saying that, he sent her out.

The "Competency Model" project is progressing relatively smoothly, mainly because Shengxing is making all the decisions at the review panel meetings, and Liu Zheng doesn't speak much. He also didn't participate in several meetings with members of the Shengxing team, citing that he was too busy.

However, Lin Yue always felt uneasy, as if things were going too smoothly and that they were accumulating energy, waiting for an even bigger setback to erupt.

As for the training program, it's not going too smoothly so far, mainly because Zhang Wei isn't good at cross-departmental collaboration and project follow-up.

Of course, that wasn't the reason the marketing center couldn't push things forward. Yuehua, the HRBP for the marketing center, had repeatedly come to Lin Yue, saying, "Sister Lin, Zhang Wei clearly lacks project management and execution skills. Should I take over the marketing center myself?"

Lin Yue gave her a knowing look and said, "Don't rush, let the bullets fly for a while longer."

Yuehua was always a clever girl, so she quickly understood Lin Yue's meaning. After that, she completely ignored it and just watched Zhang Wei repeatedly run into obstacles when he tried to find Shi Potian.
